NICE. At 3:21 - Those MAC brand solenoids are THE BEST that money can buy for boost control solenoids, they are super responsive, don't leak and they simply just do the job required without fail.
Your issue with the engine cutting seems to be like it's in a Valet mode, so you probably have a setting in the computer that cuts the ignition on some condition like overboost or low fuel pressure. The flames out the exhaust are a big clue.
Go back to basics mate, start by checking for any setting in the ECU that would cut fuel or ignition, and then pull out the spark plugs and check your engine compression and stick a borescope down the holes to check for a melted piston. Then pull the injectors out and see if they are flowing correctly, not damaged or blocked. Check fuel pressure at the end of the injector rails.
You could also have a bad earth or a bad joint on any of the coilpacks or injectors.
The flames pouring out the exhaust leads me to believe that you've got an injector thats being sluggish or stuck open. With the amount of ethanol you've been running through that thing, it is entirely possible that at some stage in the past you've had some rubber that was not 100% compatible with ethanol and some has dissolved into your fuel system and get stuck in the injector pintle.
I wish I was there, I would love to help you work on this car. If you paid for me to fly over from Australia and paid my wages i'd totally be on board with you and wrench away until you get that car running at Warp 10.

I know it's stressful dealing with these issues but you have to look at how reliable Leroy has been over the course of the build literally one of the most reliable cars at that horsepower level I have ever seen

dick van niggz you can overbuild any engine (obviously not ANY engine) and have it be super reliable. Jeremy is a super respectful tuner because he doesn't tune shit so you are going to blow it up in the near future

GixxerDad 600 so true. He needs to run a filter on his turbskies tho to ensure that Leroy will continue to be reliable. Think of all the bugs getting sucked into the turbos on a single pass, just look at your vehicles after doing 65mph on the highway/freeway how many dead bugs you can collect on your front grill/hood/windshield, not to mention anything else in the air. David Freidburger from Roadkill tested it on his show called Engine Masters and the most restrictive filter only took away 4HP and they just turned the boost up 1 or 2 PSI to accommodate for it. They also had a filterless that was basically a metal mesh screen in the shape of a filter made for the track, for people maxing their boost out and the filters are restricting them. It's just to keep the big stuff out. They also have oiled filters that are so minorly restrictive it just makes sense to put them on your turbos. Why would you want to ruin your engine just to look cool, totally not worth it especially as reliable as Leroy has been so far, he's been a great project.
STRONG HIGHBRID I don't know a lot of people have different thoughts on how necessary they are when you're only making 8 second passes at a time if it was being Street driven I'd say it would be mandatory however there are people with over 10 year old turbos that never ran filters that are just fine those bugs are chopped up and disintegrated from heat before they ever reach anything important and if there is any micro sized pieces left I'm sure they don't cause any issue.. if they do it's a first I'm hearing of it on a drag car he's got some of the best in the industry working with him he definitely knows whats up

Nate McElroy hes been having issues with his dyno reading torque lately...its waaaayyy more than 295 lbs/ft...no question....and yeah...680rwhp at basically waste gate pressure is awesome...I wonder with the new turbos turned up all the way...what he will put down HP wise...1300? 1400? Now I wanna know...hahaha
Nate McElroy the dyno is not reading tq correctly is all, he's been having that issue sometimes it doesn't register tq at all.
Okay makes sense, was definitely weird to see, literally rewind pause an double checked bc it didn't make sense an not knowing that about the dyno made it even worse now that I do know lol but yeah I definitely agree over 650 at jus a few pounds is ballin. Put 15-20 an see a massive difference anything past 20 will b a pants pooing difference I can't wait to see the results

I think the co2 should be mounted vertical to avoid liquid co2 running up the lines and freezing the regulator..
Also, I have a 508 whp Honda Civic that I have about $8000 into (that may not seem like much, but it's a 97 and I am 35 with a wife and three kids with a house), and there are always issues with something. Leroy has been very good to you in the reliability department.

I have heard it from a couple of people that run those aftermarket holley LS efi systems that they will get intermittent odd spark scatter problems at higher RPMs. It's something worth looking into. I dont personally have any experience with the system but I have heard others bitching about it. Good luck finding the bugs. Maybe somewhere on a LS forum or something, someone has figured out a fix for the issue.
bobwatters I thought he said it moved up in rpm after he swapped to the ls1 coils. I guess intermittent wasnt the best word. It's more like everything works well and then it gets the spark scatter and keeps doing it. It sounds to scattered to be a rev limiter acting up at the wrong rpm but then again after the coil swap it did kind of sound like he hit the limiter. I don't know enough about the holley system

I have been a mechanic for over 25 years and if you noticed the big puff of black smoke when it broke up on the last pull that is a clear sign of too much fuel which makes sense for the candles that were burning after the hit before. This could be from a few different things though but just to be sure I would throw a new set of 02 sensors in so that you know that you are getting a good signal. The puff of smoke seemed to be just on the driver side in the video and that makes me think that it is not a cam sensor signal issue because it would effect each bank equally but there could have been smoke from both sides that the camera didn't catch. I saw that you commented that you tracked down the problem but didn't report what it was so hopefully tomorrows upload will cover that. Hell yeah.

so something you guys may not have thought of but there is a sending unit from your cam or from the crank that is basically telling your coil packs when to fire you can have some dirt on them or just the high revs and basically shaking them loose causing some misfires

Hey guys...check all your grounds from MSD, coils, battery to fame ground, ECU (especially), EVERYTHING...take them off, scrub them with emery cloth till both sides (frame and eyelet) are shiny, then put them back and cover with dielectric grease. i bet you 2 mountain dews that's the problem! if electricity doesn't have an easy path, it will find another way, and that usually makes weird things happen!

I'd give the wire harness from the ecu to the coil packs a check. Make sure there is no corrosion on any connectors as that could easily cause ignition issues.
Sounds like you have arc'ng from a plug wire. In my c5 i had a similar sounding issue and i found it at night time while looking under the hood. I see in your post you found the problem. Hope to see what it is soon.

2 things come to mind. First would be vibration at the high RPM causing a loose wire to go intermittent. Second would be a crank position sensor that is flunking at high RPM. I would think the latter would throw a code though?
Could be so simple as a bad groud. Remember start with the simple things first.

Keep it simple stupid. No I am not calling Cleetus stupid but you would be amazed at how many weird problems are caused by simple things. Like some have suggested a bad ground, bad or undersized power wire, faulty battery connection, Maybe the battery charger thrown some alternating current into the electrical system, What I am trying to say is don't go crazy tracing down weird things without checking out the basics first.

My car did something similar, all though its not a fast car by any means, but it turned out to be the fuel injectors and wasn't that expensive to fix. It was pretty simple as well, I hope this helps you out a bit.

Well when the leroy project started and he invested in the holly dominator, he did start taking classes on it from holly, so im sure he at least has the basics down.

had a weird one where the vibration in the engine block affected the crank pickup in such a way that it would cut signal at an exact point in the rpm range... felt exactly like a rev limiter... new sensor took care of it eventually, but what a mission it was , it was literally the last thing in the list to replace... as it usually are...

Watch those push lock connections on the gates. They will more than likely melt. Seen it many times before. Clean set up, but unless specifically made for that I would isolate them.

Check your throttle position on your logs, check for any fluctuation at wide open throttle, which may cause your issue

I’m not too sure about Ls motors but on my sr20 I had the same type of issues high in the rev range and it was the earth wire in the back on the head was loose and that is all it was. Hope this helps and HELL YEAH BROTHER!!

Plugs can be an issue at high boost levels . If your running silly high boost levels it can literally blow out the spark, plug gapping and correct grade and temperature of plugs changes with increasing boost parameters

So, I know this isn't the problem, but was the CO2 tank that was shipped to you shipped empty? Normally they are so that they can be shipped. If so 1) you need to purge the tank each time before you put it on the system, and 2) you really want to get that filled.

Glad to hear you found out what it was. I'm betting it was some sort of lose wire or something along those lines.
I will say a little prayer for Leroy... Wish you guys luck in diagnosing your issue hopefully it's nothing major...
thats the trouble of upgrading a car so far past what all the other parts were meant for, you add something that adds so much power all the other parts start to fail and like almost every single thing ends up needing to be replaced or upgraded for it to be reliably fast
I was going to suggest checking the reluctor wheel so make sure it hasnt shifted. I know TSP tacks their wheels, but that doesnt mean a tack couldnt have broken. But since you have it sourced, ill leave it be. Good job.
Maybe just new unmelted wires and some fresh plugs. Plugs might be slightly foweled from the break ups and when you changed wires they were starting to clean up? Second to last run sounded a lot better. Hope you get it done and it's something simple. Love your vids. Best of luck.

Could be the muffler bearings, but also check you turn signal fluid. I saw some on the track.
Cleetus, have leroy look into some multi fire plug wires, they are almost unbelievably efficient. Just trust me and look into them, I think you'll want to pick a set up. We run them on our 950hp NA dirt late model engines.
Try tighten up the plug gap say .020 to .025. And check all grounds and power wiring.

It's switch to plasma coils and plugs. They're more reliable little more pricey but you get much better arc from the plugs
gosh dang, cleetus makes me want to become an American! his enjoyment in life is contagious. I watched a Joe rogan podcast with ted nugent, him and cleetus would make a great video series. noting more American then guns cars and clean living.
Check your grounds. Also check your ecu for blown capacitors. I had the same issue and the ecu was bad.
If you've added the velocity stacks , you need to change the mixture to match

If I may suggest, look into the crank sensor and or knock sensor.
Have you looked into the cam and crank sync. I had a buddies that would break up just like that on the top end. And I was looking at the cam and crank sync and it would break up and do exactly what Leroy is doing to you. The sensors get weak/going out and have trouble reading at higher RPM range. That's where I would be looking at next..just a thought.
Try replacing the ground wire for the ignition it’s almost always a ground that messes things up I had a bad ground coming off my battery I replaced that and everything was fine trust me try that that could be it

I would look at crank speed and camshaft position sensors, or any other sensor the ECU uses to determine spark and ignition timing. I have a gut feeling the ECU is being given erratic sensor inputs..
