Works hard, knows his stuff, and has a nice subtle dry sense of humor which is a good compliment to the wackiness that embodies a lot of Cleetus. Thanks for all you guys do and how you do it. Those waveform data logs did the trick .If Leroy feels a little rough again I bet you will check them before breaking out the wrench’s .You could here It in the exhaust .The last dyno pull sounded very smooth and even.

I had something similar on my turd. The #4 cam signal was sloppy causing it to miss hard up top. I mine was a different issue (since the sensor was good, it was a dirty signal) but was giving same results. Glad you fixed it. I don't get much time to mess with mine any more since the baby came; it took me about a year to figure it out.
That ground wire not being hooked up probably shorted the cam sensor out!! Also was the alternator losing power. Looked like it was jumping around in power!?
I doubt that. Dunno about GM, but at least on 2 wire Ford sensors, they are basically a magnetic pickup and the ECU does the mangling of the signals to get the information it wants, so probably wouldn't kill it, but a lack of a ground could make it 'float' in such a way that the ECU can't see it. Now powered sensors, depending on what they are, eh, maybe, but again, it's normally a floating thing that just puts the signal out of range of what the ECU can see.
I remember when my MAF sensor was giving me a problem, I was going nuts trying to figure it out. Glad you were able to figure everything out! James is definitely a great asset to have to the team!!! Hopefully you'll be at SCT New York. Im going to try to have my car ready by then!

yep me too. I'm surprised the Holley didn't shut down engine and throw a code. I no megasquirt 3 would never let that happen. (got be hard on engine) Looking at log/tach the rpm signal dropping off you can see its rpm/cam sync pickup related.
That is rather surprising/disappointing that Holley doesn't have any codes, fucking lucky there was an event log otherwise it would have been hunt and peck until you stumble on it.
they have it turned down a bit while troubleshooting. Last video they swapped for 4 lb waste gate springs. I think they said it held at 2.8 lbs of boost.
I agree with you Boosted. You can have a motor that makes a huge number of horses but unless you can use them for what you want they are useless. I personally think Leroy would run a lot faster than he does now with bigger slicks on him but them you get into drivetrain problems like scattered gearboxes and snapped axles.

When i LS6 swapped my 78 trans am, i couldnt get it running. After further diagnostics, the new crank sensor i bought from summit was bad. Replaced it with a 15 year old sensor and bam, cranked right up
I feel like at some point we need an official introduction with James and what his roles are and will be with the channel and shop. Plus I'd love to know more about the shop dynamics, and what everyone brings to the table
Yeah, Cam or Crank sensor sounds plausible. If the fault keeps coming back, just check the sensor clearance. Should be about 1/32nd of an inch. And also check the pins inside the plug, they tend to lose tension when they are unplugged too often - that will cause intermittent faults under high vibration.
My son and I probably passed you in Charlotte today, we were flying home from Dayton to Charlotte to Orlando. Wasn't paying too much attention due to being in a lot of pain with the prosthetic leg..
Hope you and Leroy can make it to Street Car Takover here in Spokane, WA I'm sure that Leroy will love the cooler temps that we have here in the evenings and night (between 55 & 70 depending on how hot it is during the day).

Glad you found the problem! I had the exact same issue with my 01 Camaro. Took forever to pin it down.

Dyno numbers are just that numbers. Wat it runs at track is wat matters. I'm pretty sure he does run more boost at the track.
