been following the leeroy build for about a year now and havnt said anything. love following the build. the footage is awesome compared to anyone else on youtube. killing the game. being able to actually do the work, and take the time to get footage together on top of the build and make it to the event on time with a mostly prepaired vehicle ready to race. big props. if you're reading this then good luck at ls fest. im sure leeroy is going to slay it

Cleetus is definitely one of, if not the best car UA-cam channel out there! Almost every video is quality contenteven if they are short at times but he dont have to post everyday if theres nothing to show it seems, none of this talking 90% of the video with random highway pull clips that we've already seen thrown in there. Granted I still will watch those channels like Mike's which is the biggest one I can think of, which his grandpa content has been good, so I'll give him that. Don't get me wrong I understand his grind and hes making a very good living doing kind of a mininalistist amount of work, but I respect Cleetus much more! From the Instagram lives to the UA-cam lives and actually posting up Instagram stories and what not instead of trying to cash in on every bit of time spent creating content. I enjoy both channels, but Cleetus feels like he is enjoying making the video as much as hes enjoying getting paid doing so. Hats off to you Garrett! Keep up with the great videos man!
Im gonna say this my grandfather worked for Holley in the early 60s to 93 and redesigned the carburetor for them and tested them making over 50% more power after he put his hand on them and they nick named him Mr. Holley

I went to Warren Central Highschool that is behind you guys and shopped at that same Roses and grocery store to the right of you. My Grand father worked at the Corvette plant and my brother worked at Beach Bend a couple years ago. Have fun and be safe guys. Let her rip tater chip!!!
My car T2.0L makes 260hp at the crank on 20psi, LSX 427 / 7.0L makes 1,260hp at the wheel on 22psi. i'd say that ends the debate ,there's no replacement for displacement! And this 7.0L weighs about 100lbs less then a 2jz 3.0L.
Are you sure it weighs that much less? They are both iron block
the 2jz weighs 600lbs because inline engines need to be rigid because of how long the are , a stock aluminum LS1 is 425lbs and a iron block can weigh between 80lbs to 100lbs more so best case it's 75lbs lighter. Once you add a turbo setup its a break even on weight but being able to run dramatically lower psi is worth it for so many reasons like keeping intake temps under control and not being so laggy because a smaller engine trying to spool up the same turbo to a higher psi is just going to take longer etc. The 2j is a good engine but its kinda pointless because of its size/weight/cost, now if it weighed 325lbs like a honda engine it would make a lot of sense, but 600lbs for a 3.0L is ridiculous because people stopped building big blocks because they weighed 600lbs
@@eaglefat9398 I see your point. That must mean that because the 2jz weighs so much that's why it can handle relatively high amounts of torque and horsepower before something goes wrong because of its weight to displacement ratio.
FYI my turbo civic made 500whp on 6266 on gate pressure with no timing. And 700whp at 23 psi. 4 cylinders especially Honda’s are more efficient.

You know 7.2s are not happening anytime soon right? Hes doing good at LS fest though. He's qualified # 2 as of last night with a 8.27 @ 175mph. Ray's in first place with his Camaro 7.98 @ 185mph. Not bad for first time out but it takes little time to get it rolling again. I think he gets back into the 7s over the weekend but not anywhere near 7.20s sorry

Obviously it will take some time to get used to the new motor and cleanly laying it down on the track. @@bizzybcarm.d.7828 I never hated on him once. It's not about hating on him at least not from me anyway. Its about knowing how be the gap is between even a 7.6 and a 7.2. It may not sound like much but it is. I'm no where near knowing everything and will. No one will. What I do know is how hard it is to run 7.20 and faster. Owned a car that's runs than that fast and did it years ago. Crewed with people running in the 6s one of which being Anthony Disomma. One of the best engine builders you could have. Was the builder for the Bruder's who are one of the kings of X275 and his motor is in the Vixen no prep car. I'm not just some guy that talks shit on the internet. I actually done it. Many changes would have to be made to get there. After 7.50s the chassis needs many more bars added and some of which should already be there from what I have seen. Look all the tuning and testing will not get that car in the 7.2s. It will take more power then that. When he starts trapping 195mph+ then maybe. I could be wrong but I don't think he gets there with the current trans either. You can think I'm a hater all you want but your wrong. I'm just a guy that knows more then the advantage but definitely don't know everything. I get it he's your favorite. Just because he's popular doesn't mean the same rules don't apply. Everything catches up with you in the end

I never said he can't run that fast either. Just what it would take is a lot more work. More cage work more hp that's not on tap etc. I'm looking forward to seeing how fast he goes with the current setup. Autometer part number 9117 should take care of that tach signal problem. It just connects in line with the B+ feed to the ignition coils and puts out its own pulse signal. I needed it for any rpm-referencing stuff on my 3800 but LS's can be a little funky with tach signals too as I understand it.

Painters tape from 3M to protect the finish. It doesn't leave any residue.

It's funny how many people think these engines are built like a loosely thrown together oem engine. NOPE! TIGHT TOLERANCES PEOPLE!
The tolerances are the same the parts are the difference.

@@liljjbo17 tolerances are different on race engines. Theres many advantages to it. It's not recommended to use heavy oil though. A smaller gap spread the load over a wider area for instance. I could go on but hopefully you get the point now. They are different especially if you want the motor to last longer.
Not tighter at all. Race motors are actually set up looser especially in the crank and pistons. The main difference is that the crank is perfectly straight, the block and heads perfectly flat cylinder bores are perfectly round. Each intake runner flows the exact same amount. Rings on the piston have bigger gaps because they get hotter and expand more. This is especially true with NOS equipped motors and ones with forced induction like Leroy. Also rings are much thinner to cut down on friction also. Piston clearances are greater because forged pistons expand more when heated. The only parts that are actually tighter are the valve guides to makes sure the valves seal as close to 100% as possible.

you needed more power you added some weight to old Leroy
With the power he is making the stronger the chassis is, the more power that gets to the ground. This weight only helps doesn't hurt in anyway. Like added just a 8pt cage to a car even with the extra weight you will go a few tenths faster specially in a stick car with DRs or slicks.

What I like about Cletus is there’s no bullshit clickbait. Also. Instead of having a note on the steering wheel about the intercooler, for about 20 bucks you can put a temp controlled controller. Set it to come on at 90 or so degrees and only come on with the key on. That way you don’t need to remember to cut it on. Just another thing to forget.

2:29 Contrary to popular belief, Leroy was NOT driving himself onto the dyno. What we saw was James pushing Leroy with his dad strength. Cleetus added the sound in so that our minds weren't blown by James's incredible dad strength.
