I purchased a brand new Traxxas Rustler yesterday. The car comes equipped with an improved Magnum 272R transmission. I'm not sure how it compares but it appears to have some of the same elements including aluminum motor mount, internal metal gears, sealed differential, improved wheelie bar mount. Thanks for the video. Nice to see these needed improvements being rolled into these cars while maintaining a low price point.
Magnum is better I've got 2 rustlers one with each transmission, proline want go straight,diff needs to be locked, magnum went 85mph on 4s it's capable of 6s both have same electronics
I put high temperature grease in my stock rustler transmission. Everything is 100% upgraded with the vxl motor. I’m testing to see how well it works with real high temperature grease. I noticed the grease they use is junk. So maybe it’ll work out better 🤔
Is there a stronger differential available? We have a handful of the slash 2wd that we upgraded to brushless using Castle motors and now we're breaking differential gears left and right.
Hey can I ask you a question, my rustler vxl brushless, I added this transmission but it wasn’t getting speed like it did before so I looked at the transmission to see the pads have worn out, I later ordered them by those metal round things covering the pads and spur gear is bent for some reason I was wondering how can I get that fixed or just by that part?
I did the same maybe I'm running the wrong gear but tightened the clutch and the car doesn't bite even with slicks on it and has no top end with 10/56 gearing lol
do you know of a transmission other than the 272R transmission that has the ability to drop the diff out the bottom instead of taking the entire trans appart like on the stock tranny?
Hello, replace with a new lock nut. I had that happen to lock nut on the left front. It went bad and kept coming loose. Replaced it and it has been great.

I replaced the roll pin for a piece of allen wrench. Never had any problems.
Still a nice upgrade though. 😎👍🏻

My Pro line transmission should arrive tomarrow. After servicing my Slash Ultimate, I think I can handle this change out.
I just recently got one… do you have to had any fluid to it for it to run or can it run out the box as is? Asking cause I don’t want to break anything

I use mod 1 spur and pinion 17 tooth pinion 37 tooth spur on 3s does 55 on 4S does 65

Ohh you can turn it to a 48p trans with Traxxas part 9494 i did it to mine just as good as the new traxxas 272R
Yes, I hear you however using a 32 pitch gear is advantageous because it was less damage from small tiny pebbles and dirt.
I use a clutch Eliminator
I don't use Grease I use a silicone ear plug
Could I use the heat resistant blue differential Greece like they use in old Volkswagen wheel bearings

Pins use a drill bit cut it up to length

Hello, replace with a new lock nut. I had that happen to lock nut on the left front. It went bad and kept coming loose. Replaced it and it has been great.
