    I started producing back in 2007 and spent years in trance only to become jaded and really disliking the direction of the genre. I spent the past year or two rediscovering the reason I fell in love with the genre to begin with. Gatecrasher era was my entry point and the uplifting era of the mid to late 00s kept be inspired, but after the turn of the decade, the scene changed. Now it's about who's the loudest and hardest, and the journey and wonder are lost.
    Watching this video makes me really happy since you're confirming a few things I noticed that classic trance does differently (no hard build, usually just going from break to peak with a transition). In other cases, this idea of break into peak was entirely scrapped and progression took over (see Art of Trance - Mongoose (Tektonik Remix)). Tracks were widely varied in terms of theme and idea presentation. Of course, some stuff sounds similar since most artists were using the JP8000 or JP8080 around the turn of the millenia, but I feel it was too a lesser extent than now (ironically we have almost limitless hardware and software options, but most trance producers still stick to Sylenth1, Nexus, and Virus).
    Anyway, I digress, nice video and glad to see it in my DAW of choice. Hopefully like minded producers can bring the genre back. I used to listen for hours and hours, and I can't even make it through the Beatport top 10 for trance without getting ear fatigue.

      Really nice to see you enjoyed the video and yes trance is not to everyones taste in the modern era. Although sub genres of trance are still legitimately trance, the original of trance has got lost amongst a lot of trance but I believe this is down to hardware and software advancements as well and sub genre advancements. The same could be said for house music, pop music etc but everything does return to its origins at sometime and the beauty is reborn. :) At least we still can enjoy the original of trance at any time we want to.

      @@demishellen there's also the matter of electronic music production becoming much more accessible than before. It brings in a lot of fresh ideas, but can also muddy the waters with sub par quality music. Amateur producers aren't thinking about dynamics when they're just trying to sound like Sean Tyas.

      See that's what made me a trance head in the first place. There was sooo much emotion in late 90's- early 2000's trance, especially the vocal tracks. I'd really like to see that make a comeback.

    • @de-b1221
      @de-b1221 2 роки тому

      Trance music is built on a repetitive nature in order to put the listener into a trance by focusing on the rhythm first, it's only then when the listener is focused on the rhythm you then start adding variations, chord progressions and melodies to the track to then add movement and harmony.
