    I see the similarities in playing guitar chords when you augment and diminish notes with finger alterations and string variation. This seems it could be written on guitar or an actual keyboard with practice. Cheers for that. It's inspired me to play with darker more dissonant chord structures.

    Hi, correct me if I'm wrong but you are writing chords, not a melody? a melody is a single line of notes, chord progressions are what you have done in this video along with bassnotes. Great video either way.

      @bennyceca 4 роки тому +2

      yes, that's a chorded riff, but the top line of that can be the melody, usually is.

      Both can be used, im not only using pluck sounds as chord stabs, but darker pad sounds as bit longer chord stabs with bit of noise & stereo widening, & on top of that i layer a random but in key sounding pluck arp with delay on my latest track, and together it sound great in the bridge transition part of the song or perhaps anywhere it fits! Its all about experimentation, & sometimes happy accidents! 👍

    On the last bar, try upping the bass notes to an E#, right below the F# playing on the 7th bar. I think it will make it feel more romantic like perfect blue.

  • @drongorius
    @drongorius 7 років тому +4

    Isn't easier to ,play it first on a actual piano ,so you would know exactly what notes you want there to be placed ? I playing the piano and now i am interesting to electronic music because daws now days are evolved to awesomeness. I will take the curses .

    • @Iceman219
      @Iceman219 7 років тому +1

      sure, there's no right and wrong way to do it

    • @HernanHH95
      @HernanHH95 7 років тому +1

      Drongorius You'll have a pain quantisizing the notes as the daws do not record your midi notes at the exact time that you play. It bother the heck out of me because I play the notes and not draw them out.

    • @T4Cification
      @T4Cification 7 років тому

      You increase the record quantize settings to say 1/16 or 1/32 that way it will record what you play...if you have record quantize set to low or high depending how you view it...say 1/4 or 1/8 yeah sure it will move your 1/16 notes to the nearest 1/8. I use Logic and works fine

    • @T4Cification
      @T4Cification 7 років тому +1

      Playing piano isn't really important, but an understanding of scales, harmony and the various modes will help rather than just moving midi notes about until something sounds good. But all these guys have their methods to their madness, eg moving common notes of 2 chords so they line up...creative habits

      Sonic Academy oh I see, it's a paid course...well, too bad I don't have money to spend sorry, and I have enough knowledge to keep going in my productions and learn here and there watching others working but I wouldn't pay for a tutorial even if in this case it's from Bjorn Akesson with all the respect I have for him and all the talent he has.

    • @HOllyW0uld
      @HOllyW0uld 8 років тому +1

      +DJ V.a.r. Dude why wouldn't you? for $14 a month it's a steal. There's a massive archive of tutorials, sound packs, interviews, etc... it's literally sacrificing 1 night of eating out a month to get this info. Or you can stick to digging through half -assed tutorials on you tube.

    • @djvar94
      @djvar94 8 років тому

      HOllyW0uld I'm sorry but no, I already have enough knowledge to do it myself, mine was more a curiosity to see their workflow and get inspiration from it but I don't really need all that badly I'm already pretty experienced enough and already got signed on a pretty good label such as Fuzion Four Records but anyway, if a day I feel like spending some money for this I would go for a service like Allan Morrow's one that lets me even ask questions and maybe even go staying with him at his studio and discuss about things which would be way more inspiring and helpful for some little things than just a series of videos (y) but again I don't really need all this so badly I can do it myself already

    It's one way of doing it and a skill as much as actually playing these on a piano...deadmaus works this way...doesn't seem to actually play in much of his chord progressions...just uses a well worked system of his like here to move midi info about until it sounds ok
