- Korg announced their Microkorg 2, a successor to their longest running production synth ever. I really like what I hear and see. Great user interface, with colourful, fun and clear parameters. I'm looking forward to dive deeper into this.

for some reason you always find 8 bit sounds in whatever instrument you put your hands on
life's simple pleasures
Dang that UI looks really responsive! I love how each parameter has a unique extra display in addition to the virtual knob display.
Thanks for the video Cuckoo :) The GUI is designed by Blinksonic, a graphic designer and best-known Reaktor 6 ensemble developer :)
Do you mean UI on the synth Screen ?
Oh nice! What a great collab!
@@NatLifeSounds yeah the GUI on the screen how the animations are formed, how it's animated if tweak a knob, etc. :) My wrote an article about it :)
They’ve really done a stellar job on the UI. I think that’s a major selling point that will attract many customers, newbies and all. It makes the synth so much more approachable!
I really don't care about screens.. anyone buying synths purely based on the screen UI are doing it wrong.
best microkorg 2 demo i've seen yet! now i want one!
9:51 Here we go… I reached the “Cuckoo point” now…
This is when he succeeded to bring me into a deep calm, lovely peaceful enjoying feeling where I’m in love the machine, his voice and what he’s doing.
Only this man has this super power to hypnotize myself like that. So cool
❤️🙏🏼
Every time! 😂
You are the Bob Ross of Synthesizer art.
Your vids are easy like late evening Indica !
Can’t wait to get this ! lost the original when moving house I have so many memories playing the original in 2008 with my old band
Nice, the screen’s visuals are more fun and satisfying than I expected. This is a fantastic overview of what it might feel like to use this synth.
Of all the new Korg stuff coming out this year, I'm leaning toward this thing the most.
Its classic a microkorg. (Never liked the writing on the 1st as it reminds me of a casio not like casio is bad or anything)
This is a synth I think I'd really enjoy. Especially with that looper built in, I could jam / practice / meditate on the couch with only one device. I don't really need it for production, but it'd be a lot of fun to use when I'm not at my music desk.
I'm 100% getting this
I am so excited to see this Cuckoo thank you for being you, we all appreciate these videos you do, it’s a special synthesiser can’t wait to listen 🎧
It's the UI that does it for me. It's inviting and promotes exploration in that fun colorful way. When the UI is too dense and monochrome, it can be very exhausting after a few hours.
Thanks
FIRST LOL 😆The sound you landed on from 10:45 is such a lovely vibe! The blaccc edition of the MK2 looks excellent, too. We hope this one will be in our studio someday.
P.S. We of course wish this could run plugins! But the stock effects are still superb.
Well we can’t wait for y’all to run your plugins through it 🔥
Thanks man! I'm sure it'll be in your studio soon enough!
Still not available 5 months later!! KORG what are you doing??!
Yeah, it was probably announced a little bit too early, long before everything was ironed out and ready for production. It'll come when it's ready!
I’m still waiting as well 💀
@@DiegoBenitez-q1d release date?
Around the 9.50 mark, we need this to be a full track. What a dreamy jam
The display looks awesome especially coming from logue series tiny monochromatic displays. Nice on the fly sound design and awesome playing!
Oh this is really really neat. MicroKorg was my first synth…
Really great performance here too. Great melodies.
Cuckoo is the Bob Ross of synthesizer demos
I was thinking about an opsix, but definitely going to wait for this synth.
Looks good as well always liked the slicer fx on the micro korg
Wow! This new Microkorg sounds so good!
So far I really like all about this new Microkorg, I hope it has the step lfos like on the Hydrasynth explorer.
Looks really easy to get around on this thing, not to mention it sound pretty good too. Love to know more about the looper.
I better start saving up.
Looks really nice.
Hope it can give out some meat and bone shaking basses.
Just love the colour dispay and high res graphics.
Cuckoo...
You is LEGEND innit!!!!
That melody @12:00 ❤️🌠🔥🔥🔥🚨🚒
How fast are the Lfo‘s? On the old microKORG they was up to 100hz.
Would love a desktop model of this like the Hydrasynth!!!
Great showcase Cuckoo...thoroughly enjoyed this!!!
👍
Can't wait to get one. Do you know if motion record (knob move record) is supported?
The granular(?) vocal stuff sounds really awesome!!
If you don't mind screens this is a good one. Great interface, powerful synth.
This sounds absolutely amazing really excellent demo, thanks Cuckoo! 🤘👽🛸
I'm excited for this one - thanks for the demo! Does the vocal harmonizer mode only shift the pitch of the audio to those preset + or - intervals shown on the UI at 2:20, or can the pitch-shifting be controlled solely by the notes you play on the keybed?
I have to explore this, but it seems the new vocoder stuff can pitch track your voice and somehow land on notes that way. Not entire sure how it works at this point.
If i could offer one thing to Cuckoo, it would but the Silent Note. Just simply, on occasion, to instead of playing a sounded note, play a Silent Note. There is something very profound and beautiful when added to such talent that he already has.
To me this 1 sounds better than King Korg. Also it looks fun and I know you can play piano so if you are happy that the smal keys are wider I should def be OK with these keys.
I also prefer the sound of Microkorg 2, over King Korg Neo. I really like what they did here.
And I just learnt the original MicroKorg after 20 years.
Ha ha. The more synths you know, the easier it will be to learn another. So well spent time 👍
@@truecuckoo Where to buy this Microkorg 2?
@@ChristianoRodríguez-h3k Korg will make sure it’s out in the stores once it’s available later this year. This is very early peek.
@@truecuckoo So you did not buy it your one ?
@@ChristianoRodríguez-h3k No. It will be available later this year. Currently there are only 5-6 units in the world. And they are all prototypes with firmware in development.
Good stuff as always.
I really love it. I had the first one and then I sold it to buy the one with the speaker Funny thing though I liked the speaker I actually missed the ugly color ha ha
But this one looks beautiful and the bonus extra voices and looper are a cool edition. I read you can record audio in too which could be fun
Thanks for your easy going style and loved some of the patches you put together on the fly !
Hey Cuckoo! Is that big Program Select knob metal? Or is it plastic? How about the Pitch/Mod wheels?
I don't remember 100%, but of the 3 prototypes on display, I believe this one is the "MicroKorg 2 MBK" version, which I seem to remember had a solid machined metal knob. The standard version I think had a plastic knob with a metallic top plate. But I honestly don't remember 100%.
When? When can we pre-order?
Ehiiiii, saludos 👋🏼😜
Me ganó la suscripción con sh-4d y no podía ser menos con MICROKORG ll.
Apuntado en la lista de deseos para este año. Gracias 👍🏼..
Hi. What would this be like for Bass sounds ? Seems to have a good modern engine, especially for metallic bass sounds... psytrance?
Hydrasynth explorer or wait for this??
Will current custom patches work on this you think?
Wondering the same thing!
Nerve r liked the sound of the 1st micro korg unlike the warmth of the minilogue, but this with a looper! Is good
Can sameone bring back Yamaha dx100 format Please. I am talkbox player and I love the small format and 49 keys. but I need modern sounds like rhodes , piano synths etc in format like YAMAHA DX100 .
So, here´s the proof...the new Microkorg 2 can also sound like Cuckoo!
Guys, I can't decide for myself. Which one should I get? MicroKORG S or this? 😅
At least wait until it’s out so you can get a good feel for it in stores.
@@truecuckoo make sense. btw, I really love love your video.
I LOVE CUCKOO!
SHOOK!! ❤️💖
Nothing beats the look of the original
sick chops btw ❤
Ooo the animations intro! Where can I see more animation of yours dude?
Thanks for noticing mate! I have my old account with some music videos. But I forgot the password like 10 years ago or so 😅 ua-cam.com/users/palegolas Then I have an animated short, and a music video on my Cuckoo channel.
the classic microkorg keys were great IMHO so if it's better than those it is highly playable. I would honestly love a 61 microkey instrument workstation kinda like the microstation from back in the day. Full size 61 is great at home but i feel the space concerns of touring or even basic open mic and small shows makes it so difficult for keyboardists. We pick between a small efficient analog synth maybe or the smallest laptop or looping device, yet almost nothing is standalone or easy to set up live. My fear with this new microkorg is that they have lost the nice sound of the old filter, even a digital beast has its own great sound on the original which i'm not hearing on new demos very very sadly. anyway that's my thoughts on the new microkorg, perhaps it has a sweet spot yet to be demnontrated online but i think it is still too limited to fill a workstation or laptop's soundset, and ends up feeling like an expensive inefficient new mininova or something and lost the old feel.
A pleasure to run into you in DTLA and buy you a coke, sir.
I NEEED IT!!!!!!!!!!!
Is it usb powered?
Not sure about usb but allegedly it can run on batteries like the og
Man… give me a desktop version of this without any keyboard needed.
screen protectors like cell phones are gonna be a must for this bad boy
Yummy UI. This is the era of “everything gets visualized UI on an oled screen now” - and Im totes DTF with it.
It sounds harsher than the original mk1, to me.🤨
It's definitely a more modern sound, but I wanna take it for a long deep dive, and learn everything. I have a feeling you can go in many directions with this sound engine. The Filter Drive and EQ feedback will be worth exploring for steering it into a less harsh sound.
If only I didn’t have fat fingers 🫣
Ez
This sounds great! But, smallish gripe, it looks like a kitchen appliance. It doesn’t look cool or inspiring in any way
Quite the opposite
I mean, look at the Hydrasynth Explorer or the Arturia Minifreak. They look like magic. It makes you want to play and engage with it
The original and the XL/XL+ look awesome. As do most other Korg synths. This is a unique and unfortunate failure of design on their part
This thing, yeah, no artist ever came anywhere close to the design table here. Hopefully they make some adjustments before the production units ship
I’ve got the hydrasynth explorer and whilst this may not look or play as well I’m definitly considering buying this the are some really nice sounds in here and it doesn’t look bad at all
I like its look.
I wish they made a new MicroKORG XL. It's easier, and faster, to find sounds with two dials than with one dial and buttons.
And the sounds on the MicroKORG XL+ suck, compared to the sounds on the original MicroKORG XL.
Also, did they do away with the vocoder? If so, nobody's going to buy this. (like Apple doing away with headphone jacks)
Vocoder is still on board! I’m awaiting the release to see where they finally end up!
sounds pleasant but not very ballsy
These Mickey Mouse keybeds should really be banned. Make a synth worthy of respect. Not for Oompa Loompas!
sounds like a nasty old vst
Love the sound, UI and nearly all the layout. But those genre-specific categories on the Program Selection ABCD+ labels need to go. Extremely annoying to pigeonhole banks until the end of time.
