@@istvantoth7431 What would you want? Behringer is already replicating classic analogs (for cheap), and I'd imagine it being really hard to come up with something totally new too. @@amrenmurray mini keys like on my NI M32 controller I can definitely get behind, but like on my JD-Xi and previous versions of the Minilab and Akai minis, hell no

I had a major accident on the way to the music store to get my first synth - the new microKORG back then. I survived and as a revenge I acquired more than 30 synths by now.
I actually think this is pretty cool. Played one at perfect circuit one day and forgot that was even released now. Also, they have patches based off KK Slider from Animal Crossing and Dire Dire Docks from Mario 64 on this synth, which is pretty cool that korg acknowledges the gamers in their fanbase (considering they had david wise from rareware show off a korg wavestate patch inspired by starfox adventures on their channel).
I've got one. Have to agree with some of the negatives, especially the silly trophies, but I really like the sound and the simplicity of this. The screen is ace and the arp.
I bought the Microkorg 2 and love it!!!!! It's so fun to play and jam on. It's so simple since it's all clearly laid out on the screen, the menu diving is minimal, and color coding / visuals make it so easy to sound design (I've had a digitone for years and basically gave up trying to sound design on that thing). IMO the whole point of hardware synths is that they are more fun to play than a DAW. Also, with enough FX pedals, you can't tell one synth apart from another anyway. I think this thing should be compared more to like the original Teenage Engineering OP-1. Not the best sound, but fun and portable-ish.
Omg I neeeeeeeeed one. I am in love with the tiny little screen! I actually quite like the vocoder sounds. All in all, it sounds pretty good in the jams. But no, actually, I think it could be easily replaced with a plug-in. It sounds ok, but it's not amazing. Could be fun for compact live sets I guess. If I find one second hand, I'm gonna have to buy it though. Damn, that hasn't happened in ages. Thanks Florian. I love it when you make me want stuff.
I watched about 10 episodes of Bad Gear just before going to sleep last night. Unsurprisingly had a really frustrating dream of trying to link up a bunch of synths and it just wasn’t coming together, with you doing some sort of voice over talking about the synths and the Bad Gear theme playing. 😂😂
I got the OG the month it came out as my first hard synth and made quite a bit of music with it over the course of twenty years before I eventually sold it because there's only so many ways you can change the sounds on it. The 2nd one fixes that and then some. It doesn't take long before you've got a preset sounding completely original. The genre wheel is just as weird now as it was back in 2002, but I think they kept it around as a throwback to the quirky charm of the original. But there's also worse ways to navigate sound banks too! And I love the improvements made to the vocoder! Half the reason I got the OG was for the vocoder so this is a big deal for me. It cannot be stated enough how much better this one is. The perfectly capable looper is an unexpected but very welcomed addition to the live performance capabilities of this beast. There's not that many synths out there with loopers. The Yamaha Reface CS comes to mind and I'd definitely rather have the microKorg 2 instead. As far as the filter goes, it's got the sort of squelch that acid house is known for. I'm pairing it with the Behringer RD-6 and TD-3 for that reason. I'll gladly admit that I got this mk2 purely out of personal bias. I don't know if I would recommend this synth to everyone. There's some really strong competition in this price range.
I snagged a microkorg xl+ for 150 bucks and it's been awesome. I had to take it apart and resolder the output and clean some nasty liquids but the thing can jam for sure.
Never gelled with the OG - but I got this, and it's working for me! I still don't like the keys, but they don't make me recoil from the synth the way the Mk 1's do. I know plenty of folks didn't mind them, but it wound up being a non-starter.
As a mostly non-synth guy, this is one of the only hardware synths that interests me enough to consider buying it. It's affordable, it does a lot of stuff, yet remains simple. The visual respresentation of parameters on screen is really nice. Definitely something I could see myself buying on sale.
Early this year, i thought the Microkorg II would be my #1 synth for the year, but I was wrong. The Behringer SY-1 was what did it for me! It goes perfectly with my Roland RD-6 and the PhraseLab with the "HAL 9000 Eye" watching and waiting for it's opportunity to launch me into judgement with my creator.
