I love the korg digital engines of the wavestate and the modwave as vsts but not as hardware. I certainly look forward to trying this as a VST. Although it seems like a lot of overlap with a mod wave native which handles analog fairly well on its own.
This gives me KORG RADIAS vibes… each PATCH has 4 layers, sequencers, arpeggiator, multiple motion sequencer per layer….Berlin school, ambient sounds….
I don’t really care what’s under the hood as long as it sounds good and there are good feeling controls. And having an editor is just a plus as long as it isn’t a requirement to make music. This one sounds good to me and have plenty to dig deep down in and learn. Of course a bigger screen would have been nice but it is there if you want it via a laptop or computer.
Owned a Minilogue XD and didn't like the limited envelope so sold it to get a Wavestate but don't like the fact it doesn't have real oscillators. This is actually what I've wanted all along...
All the negative vst comments then someone like me who actually doesn’t want to sit beyond a computer or pack a laptop setup everywhere and this a dream man love it
@@BeepsAndBeats well unless they make an easier way to put any vst you want on a physical synth to use as a tangible interface that isn’t just a midi controller daw setup then it kinda is what it is
People who moan “oh another a VST in a box” sound like absolute muppets. They must be the same kind of people who respond “you must be fun at parties”, like they’re incapable of producing an original thought. They just repeat other people’s ideas word for word. 😂
@@notsure1135 Describing the physical keyboard as merely a “box” is clearly a very reductive statement. The machine is more than the sum of its parts. I suppose musicians who perform live are more likely to understand and appreciate the value and benefits of a self-contained, ready-to-use instrument. BTW I won’t be buying this one, but for other reasons.
Sounds pretty cool to me. Love that Korg still has that "Korg" sweet spot sound after all of these years. I have a 01/Wfd from the 90's and even though the MultiPoly is decades newer I can still hear it's Korg roots. Funny thing is the 01/W also has "Waveshaping" as a feature in it. Waveshaping was and is different than the Wavestation and Wavestate "Wave Sequencing". More subtle of evolving textures and harmonics. Might have to to get one of these.
I think it is amazing. Love what you did with the modulation capabilities, and especially those modifier operators. Also I absolutely love the multi-timbrality, the filter configurations, the fact there is an external editor and you can upload your own wavetables. I think it is very fresh and it looks great too. Well done. The only thing is missing the aftertouch. It's the same complaint I have with my GAIA 2. PS. While I am here, if I could make a request. I would love something like a Triton / M1/O1 in this form factor, plus some modern twists with the mod matrix and filter architecture you have here. The ultimate rompler for the future!! I am certain it would sell like hotcakes! Don't forget the aftertouch! :-) Great job Korg!! ❤
Check out the MIDI Pal, amongst other useful things it can fire off notes to alternate MIDI channels, round robin style. Also good for converting older multi timbral synths to poly after touch (you just copy the same sound to different channels).
I understand the absence of aftertouch to keep the price down, but not including an expression pedal input seems like a major oversight. This thing begs to be played with a quality MIDI controller. Release this with a 4-octave keyboard and an expression pedal input, and you have a Nord Lead killer. Failing that, a 5-octave “multi/poly SE” with poly AT (Keystage keybed wink wink) and more pedal inputs (at least 3, including damper) would be an amazing instrument.
All I hoped for was a 4 layer modwave (My favourite synth in a collection of 20+ vintage, analog, and hiend digital) - and now it's here!! BUT YOU LEFT OUT THE SAMPLES?!? The combination of VA, wavetable and sampler is what really makes the modwave stand out Hope you put it in the multi/poly mkII (coming out in 11 months or something?).
Wavestate, Opsix, Modwave, and Multi/Poly all need a bigger screen with touch input to help with the menu diving. They had no trouble putting those in Tritons, M50, and Nautilus, plus the technology is cheaper these days. Korg sucks as far as interfaces when they have paradoxically done some of them well as well.
Brilliant demo Luke but who are the numpties asking for 3 octave keyboards? I know space can be a premium in some homes and studios but a 61 note premium semi-wighted keyboard with after touch should be a minmum on all new keyboards. Or is this an upselling technique where there will be a five octave release a la Wavestate SE?
At least they have upped the build quality. Had both the Wavestate and Opsix and loved them. Pity they haven't improved the screen size as deffo needs a touchscreen instead of all the buttons.
9:35 it's 5 a.m. and I'm getting interested. It looks well worth of asking price, 900 euros. If only it had two more assignable ouputs (none of manufacturers does or will do this anyway). Oh, only damper pedal input?

Luke, another awesome Korg is another awesome video, thank you. I wanted to ask if you can manipulate the presets without messing up the original settings. I’ve done this on my Nautilus by turning the knobs And not making a user category. It always seemed to stay the same before and reset when I turn it back on the next time I play. and one day I turned it back on and the Combinations of some of the programs that I tweaked around with were messed up. The book says you can tweak them knobs and return them to the center position, and turn it off without saving anything and they will be the factory reset again? That’s the reason I’m asking because I’m looking at This New one you’re playing and I want it. But, I need a clear definition of how the global mode and or how this one works so I do not mess up the original factory settings. I don’t know if Korgs Global modes exist on all the synths or just the workstations? Thanks so much for the demo and the awesome Sounding synthesizer!
