Plastic man is one of the most powerful characters but people overlook it cause of his goofy personality. He's literally immortal
Yes but he has no destruction capabilities. He's only op on defense/resistances.
@@damsen978he can't turn sharp and do some stabbing?
He's made of plastic, so no. You can have a sharp form but the material isn't dense enough to cut. @@MaddMo0n
@@damsen978he can tho
@@damsen978he can control his molecules
Don't forget Jake from Adventure Time either, he could literally be changed into a suit, and also had an episode where he made an entire world inside of himself by stretching. He also got stretched to his limit in one episode where he was stretched out thin. An interesting character to research if you do a second video on this.
It's a cg video
fr @@piput8533
@@piput8533he still included some animation like elastic girl

You do know 3D animation is still CGI, right?
Stretch powers check so many boxes. Practical, Offensive, Defensive, Preventative, and Humorous…it really is the everything power.
Well said 👏
Not the best defensive power but still pretty decent
@@piusdoe8984no
I thought that said penetrative. Yeah imma head out
@@y.reviewsthis made me die of either cringe or being shipped with the main girls /:|
Luffy really puts the whole ‘stretchy powers are too hard’ argument into a box
It warms my heart to see luffy front and center
You are the Bob Ross of movie reviews
I'll take it. 🎨
I seriously remember all the One Peice fans fighting me tooth and nail saying they couldnt do Luffy's powers live action.
It's a shame you didnt cover Parasyte Part 1 and 2 because they influenced how the OP crew animated his powers. Seriously, Parastye 1 and 2 perfected live action body stretching.
They did a live action parasyte movie? Neva knew
@@muhammedhabib2286 They did TWO becasue they didnt want to cut anything. And they mixed CG with puppetry so that the morphing and stuff looks really fucking good. It's def one of the best anime adaptations ever.
In the Steven Universe franchise the character Spinel has Stretch Powers as well, which goes well with her whole Rubber-Hose animated thing, she can extend, compress, expand, twist & warp her body in all sorts of ways, sizes & shapes, even without any battle experience she was able to give our heroes a challenge, plus when she used a Syth based weapon she was truly a force to be reconed with, Spinel was a good example of how Stretch powers can be used well in combat(and to have a good time with friends).
What I love about one piece’s live action is how they didn’t hold back with the bizarre parts of the one piece world at all. You’d imagine of all shows, the one that focuses around a goofy rubber man would be the hardest to adapt to live action, and that they’d try to make it too serious, but mans just ballooned up and it worked
Same kind of thing for the den den mushi. They’re just straight up fugly snails and it’s charming
There is also Fantastic four 1994 unreleased movie. X-men had senator Robert Kelly turned into some stretchy watery creature by Magneto. There's also Flubber and the mask.
That X-Men scene is a good pull. Should've had that in there.
What I find so funny is that almost all of these characters have practically the exact same powers but use them different because they're goofy and extremely dependant on creativity. Plastic man is one of the most powerful characters in all of dc when he actually gets serious and because all of these people are so similar they could all technically be much more powerful than they seem to be in their respective media. I love it
Definitely a key difference of Luffy's powers is the use of tension and momentum. This gives it more of a focus on power while the others (minus Kamala) are more focused on creativity.
(Great video, lots of great examples)
The secret life of Walter Mitty is an amazing movie. I highly recommend it. It's got a lot more soul than the clip would suggest.
Agreed.
Elastigirl also turned into a boat lol
I really, really love these videos going over every example of a certain power. Great stuff!
🙏
Great job on the video!! From the chill vibes to the informative history on things I’ve never thought of, always glad to see a new upload
Always appreciated Toasty Carp.
i know its 2d animation but mezo shouji from mha has one of the coolest versions of stretchy powers. f.y.i he has a power that allows him to stretch and add more appendages to his body they can be eyes, ears, and hands. and his hands can have webbing that help sheild himself or others.
Kinda. There are a fair number of constraints and limitations, like it only seems feasible with his arms, and he's not quite as versatile as plastic man or Luffy. Speaking of which, I wouldn't be surprised if Horikoshi makes a Luffy inspired character.
I'm proud to say, I've watched every single movie shown in this video
Who could have guessed that sticking to the source material, would turn out to be the secret to making a live action adaptation of an anime be a world wide hit.
On a non-sarcastic note, it's the windup and momentum that really make stretchy powers work in animation and cgi IMO. Noodles was actually some of my favorite visuals, though not when he supersized his hand. It's the implication that it's gaining mass, yet he moves it with the same dexterity as if it had very little mass. I'm surprised Tom Hardy's Venom didn't make the list.
Damn you're right. That would've been a good one.
One piece
How could you miss Jake the magic dog from Adventure Time? He's very relevant.
How could I forget Jake the Dog.

Can’t believe you didn’t mention spinel from steven universe, I thought their use of stretchy powers was really creative and all the animations were fantastic
Good call. Regret missing it.
Nobody cares..
think it was mostly about live action only with one piece they showed the anime parts
@@y.reviewsbtw i used to have a crush on spinel until i stopped watching steven universe, WHICH IS WHAT I DID!? But yeah, i boycott anything steven universe related… do not listen to user-mz1fe
Love Luffy!
Didn’t know there are so many stretch power out there ❤
Damn... you are a genius ! I did enjoy. So I am subscribing 😎
my homepage knows what i like, that's probably the first time i saw a new video on my homepage
Stretchy characters must be so fun to animate 😂
Great video with great editing! Dont forgot yhe stretch Armstrong show. Which had 3 unique stretch powers
So happy you mentioned Secret life of Walter Mitty. One of the best.
We need more evolution of powers type videos, it will us creatives to inspire and create
Your reviews are so freaking authetic dude, keep up the work!
Trying my best 👍
One Piece didn't get the inspiration from all the other media, all the other media got inspiration from One Piece. They are all One Piece References. Live action just adapted all the same stuff that happened in anime and manga which came way before flash and other live action tv series/ movies
If that's true then all the better. Not trying to make it a competition, just figured it was fun to point out similarities.
Nice video❤
I remember from Teen Titans that there was a character named Madame Rouge, she also had stretchy powers along with the ability to shape shift into other people. Somehow she was even able to change her voice to sound like others as well.
She's not well known but she's just as affective as other powerful characters.
One piece just goes to show how an adaptation SHOULD be as true to the source material as possible. I hate hearing people say "If you wanted the original, play/watch the original."
I believe you forgot Stretch Monster. Stretch Armstrong and Stretch Monster came out in the mid to late 1970s ish.
Elastigirl and Ms Marvel are the only females with stretchy powers (in this list at least). I wonder why…
I Love The Female Characters With Stretchy Powers
This channel is SEVERELY underrated
🙏
I love your video essays, however, I think live action Kamala Kahn falls somewhere under forcefield powers. She has similar powers to green lantern.
I would love if you explored the CGI of flight in movies. Hell make it a series. Love ya man.
Flight might be on the way.
@@y.reviews Awesome. Can't wait to see it.
@@y.reviews You forgot about Jim Carrey's The Mask and the Filipino superhero called Lastikman both have stretchy abilities that includes Jennifer Ganger from Doctor Who.
If you do another one of these I think Upgrade from Ben 10 would be a cool one to look into!
plastic man’s power isn’t really STRETCHING, it’s more of an ability to change his molecular structure to ANYTHING he wants, he can even increase his mass to become stronger and he’s damn near immortal, the only” weakness” he has is the temperature, if it’s too hot he melts if it’s too cold he freezes and you’re able to break him into small pieces, but it won’t last long because he’ll come back like nothing happened
Great and creative ideas in this vid!👍
I too was looking forward to seeing Luffys Gattling power more than any other move and yeah, they didn't disappoint AT ALL❤😊❤, it's also my favorite part of the show, I looped that part probably 10, if not more, times over lol... It also helps that the actor screams "GUM GUM...... GATLIIIIIIIIIIING!!!!" like a BOSS! ❤❤😮😊😮❤❤
I personally like the Battle Axe just a bit more, but only because it showcased how absolutely destructive his power can be.
@@markamanic tbh yeah, the Battle AXE scene is defs my number 2 scene of the movie :-) once again, the actors intense scream brings that move to life and gives it a ton of weight behind the attack, perfectly executed so I agree with u, except that Gattling is number 1 for me personally :-)
The trick to a proper adaptation is follow the source material and change little to nothing only adding to it's already greatness e.g The last of us series, one piece, House of the dragon etc. The fans fell in love with those materials because of what they are.
some changes can be for the better though and also some adaptations just dont work, and they may not be small ones that dont work either. The trick is definitely following source material but maybe putting a slightly different spin to it, if you just copy and paste things get boring. Like live action disney movies, at least for me.
One Piece wasn't completely source accurate
Gonna be honest I think I would watch a stretch Armstrong action movie
Luffy's attacks in the live action are definitley based on the things they look like because they probably used it as a base for their live action CGI, but in the anime, it is it's own thing, especially now in the gear 5.
If they ever get to gear 5 in the love action, I wonder how they'll handle it
@@lightwisp2135 imagine them using 2d animation in pure Space Jam style...
you should consider Rita Farr from Doom Patrol for a part 2, she shows how stretch powers are a curse more than anything
Should've included her for sure.
For Kamala in the comics its a mix of her inhuman genes and the terrigen mist activating her powers. in the MCU version she is a "mutant" where the bangle gives her the mysticle light powers
gatling wasnt a refrence in the live action one piece its a move he does in the manga and anime dont know why you didnt show that while you were showing gum gum pistol gum gum whip gum gum rocket
No one cares that you know everything about a fictional cartoon character
So entertaining
The Krakens in the Dreamworks film Ruby Gillman Teenage Kraken also have stretch powers, which kind of makes sense seeing as how they are very octopus/squid-like in nature.
Gotta watch that one.
Ezekiel wasn't the only stretcher in the boys. Re'member' that other guy? Yeah, THAT guy. I think he deserved a mention at least 😅
You should make a video about super strength
💗💜💙💚I Love Stretchy Powers💛🧡❤💗
Batman once mentioned That if Plastic man wasn't on their side, The Justice league would have been doomed
YAAAAY!
20:22 this is a reference from dhalsim super 3 and critical super 3
9:28 Doctor Doom: And I took that personally
bro that is the power i want so bad
Was hoping to see more of The Mask in this. Jim Carrey is basically a looney tunes character
Hey just asking, but what do you think about kamen rider W lunar?
surprised elasti-girl from Doom Patrol wasn't here
I wish you included Cab Calloway's rotoscope-clown character, Koko, from the Betty Boop cartoon.
That's a deep cut. Could've been in here.
If you do make a second video on this, might I suggest including Mommy Long Legs from Poppy Playtime Ch2. It's basically that universe's version of Stretch Armstrong. I love how they mix spider esque movements with stretchiness. It makes it super creepy looking
I have yet to play Poppy's Playtime (it's in my queue) but I agree, a horror entry would be interesting.
You forgot the television film Generation X aired on Fox on February 20, 1996.
whats the clip at 2:02 from?
What's the background music you use? I'm trying to study and it sounds nice
Which part? If it's the intro, look up Rose by Lukrembo. He has a bunch of good stuff.
Luffy's attack feels as if his opponents were hit by a big giant tractor wheel, instead of just a mere rubber or slime
Spoiler Alert:
Liberty from the new Paw Patrol movie got stretching super powers.
Who remembers Skin from the Generation X movie (Marvel comics)? He is a mutant with stretchy skin.
I Would Like To Make My Own Character With Elastic Powers
💜💜💜 *Stretchy-Girl* 💜💜💜
She's A SuperHeroine Created By Me
She Has Super Stretchy Powers
She Is Inspired By Ms. Marvel, Elastigirl, Mister Fantastic And Kim Possible *(She Has Long Orange🧡 Hair)*
They did Kamala’s powers so dirty in the MCU. From my perspective the whole point of her stretchy powers was that they were kinda awkward aesthetically as opposed to Mr. Fantastic’s more tactical use or Plasticman’s comedic style. That gets lost when they give her hard light powers instead.
Lastikman is a Filipino version of Plasticman, and there is a movie from 2003 which has pretty much the same quality as its 2022 tv show lmao (imo)
Elastigirl is my favorite elastic character
13:30 groooooooooot👏👏👏👏👏
Don't forget "parimatch esport - bro fist" 😂😂
And with all the inspiration from all these characters, there is a whole comunity focused on these unique powers! Exressing them with a whole list of OCs from people, Its just that not that much people make part of it, and thats good tho.
Wow, 3 Mr. Fantastics on the list, yet the original live action Mr. Fantastic from Roger Corman's Fantastic Four (1994) didn't make it. 😔
Btw, that is my favourite Fantastic Four movie. Sure the effects are really bad, even for 1994, but at least Dr. Doom looks like he's ripped straight from the comic pages and it has the best story of all the FF movies.
great video. I found however the bg music too loud.
Thanks for letting me know. Always trying to improve my audio with each new upload.
theres one more character in the boys with "stretching" abilities
Wdym moments from other things inspired the OPLA? Most of his moves are from the manga/anime. I do hope they go crazy in season 2 and show the various devil fruits way more.
YES.....
Incredibles 2 blew me away with Elastigirl. They opened my eyes to the power/versatility of stretch powers just like one piece anime did.
Pixar/disneys very high quality has been standard for so long that it goes over ppls heads how incredible these scenes are.
Yeah they took the stretch idea to the next level with that one.
My man didnt talk about jake from adventure time😢. Great video tho
Regret leaving him out :(
is someone going to tell him that it's rather the shows that were inspired by one piece and not one piece which came out more than 20 years ago?
Personally this is one of my least favorite super powers, but nice video 👏
Appreciate that 👏
I hope the make movie about Plastic man in James Gun verse
Okay, when Insomniac making The Incredibles game starring Elastigirl as the main character?
2:10 AAAYOOO
Plastic man is the original jake from adventure time
14:03 lmao
2015 f4 is underrated
LONG LONG MAAAAAAN!
EVOULUTION OF CGI INTELLIGENCE PLEASE
You know, I think there is another person from the boys who can stretch.
Who's the best stretchy person
What about in IT: Chapter 2 when Pennywise made his face stretch wide?
How did you not mention The Mask in his own section?
You missed one. There is an other person in The Boys who is able to stretch. I think he is called d*ck man?
wait so did the stretchy kid in sky high drown in that toilet?
Ya shoulda started with plastic man, since he basically came first but, I checked out when you skipped Mr. Fantastic...
