Alita isn't an AI. She's a cyborg. Problem is that the only thing that's actually organic about her is her brain which if you read the Mars Chronicle manga, is actually quite impressive is even capable of developing as much as it did.
Easily one of my fav channels. Y reviews all day everyday

just curios on the montage at the end, Belle and Robocop? Belle was an avatar in 3d world. and Robocop more cyborg, like brain or head on a machine.

Meh... Pretty good video

Your video just makes the day
AI =/= Robots.
Unfortunately the video shows what I consider a huge failure of pop culture and the lack of out of the box thinking:
Ai = robots with feelings.
When in fact it's so much more and has and will have more impact on our lives in almost every aspect. Regardless of a robotic body.
We're basically culturally not really prepared for what's to come.
This gigantic intelligence that will probably soon overtake us in every aspect could make so many interesting stories and hypotheticals.
Just looking a few years into the future brings fundamental questions:
What about us not being the dominant species anymore?
Ai being able to create better art, music, movies?
Being faster, stronger, solving more complex puzzles and taking over most aspects of our lives?
Being better at taking care of us than we ever could.
What remains for us?
Laziness or will we thrive in other aspects?
But all we get is: Ai is robots and they deserve our empathy.
The only film I think that showed the most realistic depiction of AI was "her".
No robot, just a voice, but the social implications are way more intriguing.
Also that tech is basically already there. So we'll soon see first hand what it will bring for us.
Okay, essay over 😁
P.s. this is btw not a dunk on your video! It's a great video! 👏
You just had to work with what Hollywood provided.
Thanks for the thoughtful response! I agree completely that there's a lot more to AI than we all think and it's equal parts exciting and scary to think about. Her is a great example of Hollywood thinking outside the box and I'd like to see more of that than the standard robot flick. Maybe I'm wrong on this, but the examples in this video are robots capable of independent thought and emotion, choosing their own path, and becoming more than just a machine. In that way, are they not considered AI?
Or if you meant that AI doesn't necessarily HAVE to mean robots then yes I totally agree. But again like you said, not a lot of examples otherwise in mainstream movies.
The Creator had an amazingly evocative aesthetic, but was still an incredibly vapid work - almost like it was written by A.I. as a propaganda piece which was programmed to arbitrarily mashup disperate elements of Neill Blomkamp's "District 9", "Chappie" & "Elysium" with Michael Ritchie's "The Golden Child" - but with no regard for athropological versimilitude or narrative cohesion.
Agreed. Loved the visuals. Story was lacking.
"Budet of only 80 million" he says.
Using Wikipedia numbers: Godzilla Minus One was 10 million. RRR was 30 million. John Wick 20 million. Joker 55 million.
