Why didn't you glue on a piece of Formica Laminate on top for a smooth durable work surface???
John Heisz - I Build It 11
Very good. I like how smooth your lift mechanism is.
I just finished the router table and lift, It's perfect for my shop. I used 3/4 plywood for the top to add a miter track. I noticed tightening the wing nuts on the fence lifted it back slightly so it was a bit our of square, i just added some masking tape along the top inside part of the fence to make it square. The plans were awesome and easy to follow, just take your time and do each part well. I highly recommend making John's belt and disc sander first, or buying one. Helps when making the round top inserts, the wheel handle, etc.
Your videos are very well made that keeps me want to come back and watch more love the design
Wow! This looks amazing and seems to be the perfect solution for a bench top router table. Your ingenuity will never seize to amaze me!
You're so incredibly clever. I really envy you, but you share your plans and techniques with us, enabling us to build things we never thought we could. Thanks, John!
I'm just finishing this build up. The plans are excellent. I wish I could build everything from plans like this. Real satisfying process. It's a perfect, solid housing for the router lift. Ended up going with 32 inch wide top to fit incra miter track, Used 3/4 Arouca plywood for box, 3/4 mdf for top and fence because that's what I had. The table is level and solid and the lift goes high enough above 3/4 top to remove bits.
Beautiful build
Nice machine. Congratulations John.
Wish that I had waited to make the bench top router table that I built a while back. This one is way better! Maybe I can use some of your ideas to tweak mine. Great stuff as usual................... :)
Very nice, John. I really like this table and lift design. I have a very similar fence, and found dust collection works much better for me when the sliding fences are back beveled 45 degrees on the ends closest to the bit. It seems to help direct the chips into the collection box a little easier rather than them bounce off the blunt square ends. Especially on bits with a heavier profile. IMHO, of course.
Nicely done. Looking forward to making one myself.
As always, nice work, John. On the build and the video!
Well done John.
Really enjoy watching your videos and your approach to creating your projects.
All the best to you, Barry.
Well done. Thanks for the video.
John, even tho I am a novice woodworker, I purchased your plans and have decided to try to build this router table. I will let you and those following your channel how it come out. Wish me luck....Great videos, keep em coming.......Don
Donnie Gaskill how'd you go with the build?
I haven't started yet. Grandkids and grandkid things to do first. But I will let you all know how it goes when I do get to start on it.

As always you have built a nice piece of kit there John. Keep them coming
Awesome, love the lift.
Thanks John,! I like it so much you've inspired me to build a bench top (so I have something to put it on). 😂
I like this stuff. This is very useful. Thank you, John Heisz.
Good stuff!
Great project at a fraction of the cost of a factory made one, plus the satisfaction of being able to stand back and say, I built that (with the help of ibuildit).
Great idea John. Yeah, as an electrician I try to avoid metal boxes , just for the fact that you don't have to ground plastic, (one less step).
Great work!
John. This video could not have come at a better time.I'm actually getting ready to build a bench top router table of my own.So many ideas that I have gotten from yours.Hum.Now I need to rethink my design. Thanks for a great video and new ideas.
Incredible as always
I really enjoy watching your videos, they are very satisfying!
John, that is fantastic!
Love it John - one of your best projects IMO. Would you consider bundling the table build and lift plans together for maybe $15-17? It’s not the bundle discount as much as the hassle buying them individually.
Very nice John, in due time I’ll be purchasing the plans and building one myself!
Well done!.Thank you.
Really awesome John! 👍👊
Headed 2 Orange Depot ty for the video !

Hi john, I currenlty only have a DCA AMP02-6 Palm router, Can i use that for this?
Muy buenos videos
Nice one
This just may be me, but I would not point the brad nailer at the family jewels when nailing boards. Only because I wouldn’t want to explain how I got “nailed” to the ER doctor. 😱😂
Great video, as always!
Beetle Bailey 😂
I love your wire strap
excelente amigo!
Isso vai me economizar uma grana kkk Projeto muito bem elaborado!
Great Build excellent video and audio description New Subscriber
Está excelente la maquina .Pero como se hace la parte del elevador de la Ruteadora Gracias
Well done John! I assume by removing your router from your table saw, would make some much needed workshop space available.
Holy hell, John's using wood glue. Like, yellow wood glue?!
Hey John, I'm on the fence whether to build a router table on my tablesaw right side table or desktop router table. What made you decide to build a desktop table and get rid of the tablesaw router setup? Just portability? Or was there some issues with router on tablesaw?
Very. Good. Odea
I just recently rewatch The router build they put in the wing of the table saw. You mentioned using you're old cabinet style router table that you built a long time ago when you had space. Is this one going to replace that one? Thanks for the cool content.
I want one!
To bad those cylindrical routers are so uncommon in the Netherlands, makes mounting them so much more easy.
John, why do you have to adjust the fences @0:29 if the router bit has a bearing? Dust collection?
I'm guessing he did it just to demonstrate that the fence can be adjusted for different bit sizes. On the other hand, it never hurts (no pun intended) to utilize additional safety precautions whenever possible. The average speed of most full-size routers is around 26,000 rpm's; 433 rotations per second. If something were to happen; e.g. the bit comes loose and fly's out, the bearing comes off, or an accidental slip or mishandling of the work piece, the close proximity of the fence could prevent a serious injury.
4:43 blew my mind. :)
John your videos have one problem
There so good I’ve already watched all of them
it's a goddamn masterpiece!
Great 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
John, I'm sure you have covered it on one of the channels in the past but how many plans do you sell on average for a project like your lift or router table?
Cool
Heisz Night in Canada!
Hey John, guess I won't see you at the Hamilton Woodworking show. Get in there and do some seminars!
hassleoffa is he going there
