Uh, no. Goth is a MUSIC based subculture and a literal music genre, poser. If you listen to "mostly metal", then no, you are not a Goth. Metal isn't Goth.
"Why do you listen to metal?" It's not only because I like it, it is a genre of music that I can strongly relate to & why I consider it my very own sacred haven from all the horrible BS in life. The music, the riffs, the lore, & the diversity of creative lyrical themes whether it's about Darkness, War, Destruction, Dragons, Monsters, Demons, Skeletons, Dark Fantasy, Horror, Chaos, & all that other scary stuff. Everything about Metal just feels extremely transdimensional, orgasmic, & just incredibly amazing. After a while listening to my all time favorite bands like Disturbed, Mushroomhead, Korn, etc, I've decided to expand my tastes in Metal & started to dig deeper into pretty amazing bands such as Iced Earth, Within Temptation, Lannon, Fear of Domination, Hostile Breed, Dååth, & various others from genres like Thrash Metal, Nu Metal, Industrial Metal, Melodic Death Metal, Progressive Metal, Gothic Metal, Symphonic Metal, etc, etc. I listen to Metal because it helps me stay positive, it prevents my anxiety & depression, & it prevents me from overthinking about the horrible things in life & in all honesty I can be a very sensitive person & it's embarrassing to admit it. I used to get yelled at, bullied, picked on, mocked, emotionally & verbally humiliated all because I'm not like everybody else & that is something I should NEVER feel ashamed of. Literally everybody else only listens to Pop & Country because they have absolutely no musical standards whatsoever or maybe because it's "popular". I don't mind listening to other genres of music that are outside of Metal such as Dark Ambient, Classical Music, Eurodance, & Cybergothic music. I don't hate people for liking Pop & Country, I just hate the music in general because it's boring & it constantly sings about the same old repetitive lyrical themes whether it be a "love song" or a song about partying. It makes me sick having to hear those same old topics & always gets aired on the radio 24/7 nonstop. That's why I love Metal music because it has a vast variety of creative lyrical themes & such. Though I'll admit that I used to like Rap music when I was a little kid until when I've turned 11 & started checking out Rock & Metal music, then that's when my taste in music started to evolve & just thank God I stopped listening to Rap because that crap went farther down to the garbage disposal. Being a die-hard Metal fan has me special, unique, & proud, I even wanted to start my own Metal band because it's what I love doing & I feel heavily inspired by that. Despite all those loud harsh aggressive vocals, heavy riffs, & super brutally dark lyrical content, I am literally one of the very NICEST people on the planet & I guarantee you'd definitely like me as a good friend. My love & therapy for Metal music also shows that I'm not alone! I have few close best friends who share the same tastes of Metal & have shared their same experiences as I do. I could've never been that much happier in my lifetime because if Metal music didn't exist then my life would be in a different yet destructive path of misery.
I listen to metal because there's nothing else like it and it's most intellectual genre that can explore more themes unlike genres of music that mostly singing about sex and superficiality

Honestly the reason I listen to metal is more of an ease of depression... when some heavy ass Riff comes on I just can't help but feel a since of purpose and acceptance I suppose... probably not the best answer but a true one
there are simply 2 reasons why boring people don't like metal....... 1. they automatically associate metalheads with skulls, blood and other horror stuff, which is definitely not the case of every metal subgenre, so they just hate it, because they don't know enough about it, they also think that every single metalhead is a rebellious hellraiser and troublemaker, which is also bullshit...... 2. some people just don't like the music itself, cause it's too extreme for their own music taste...... I mean, if someone actually likes "music" like Justin Bieber, it is really hard to imagine that particular person liking rock music in general, nor the most quality and extreme version of it......
-not liking metal doesn't make you boring -people have different tastes in music -there are tons of wonderful and skilled musicians within different genres C'mon dude
It depends the type of metal we are listening to. I stick to heavy metal, thrush metal, nu metal, power metal. I love Metallica and Iron Maiden- i was growing up on them. I hate Black metal or death metal. But I also listen to differeng types of music.
@@clownworldhereticmyron1018 offcourse there are skillful musicians in other genres...... but it's mostly rock genres..... outside of rock music, it's probably only jazz and classical music where you find talented players and songwriters..... I myself love progressive music in general, not just metal...... probably my most fav music after metal...... especially those classic bands from the 70's

basically sums up most of electronic music for me. If the lyrics sound good and add to the musical composition of the track, its great. If your lyrics sound terrible and are the main focus of the composition, then im turned off.
Frikkin' EXACTLY! I see vocals as another instrument. Although, sometimes the lyrics are truly epic, too, especially if it's the intro of the song. Example: _"I think that someone is trying to kill me! Infecting my blood and destroying my mind!"_ Just potent as hell, the way it's placed in the song. But usually, I don't pay attention to lyrics.
if you are interested, check out the 1970's "films d'auteur" movement in cinema. there are some things that are really out there. i actually have a printed script of a movie from that time period called "doux glissements du plaisir". i read it but i felt like i was reading pure surrealism. namely, the main actress covers herself in raw egg, script notes include the metaphorical message of her being impregnated by the dichotomy between nature wild and free and nature captive. i'm not making this up either. it gets weird from that point on. it's either mental masturbation or an excess of psychedelic drugs. i'm not sure which.
I listen to metal because its a badass way of expressing my emotions and sometimes I just wanna scream my anger out and metal satisfies me. Its more meaningful than any other genre and omg those sick ass riffs!!!! Make me have an eargasm!!! XD
When I was the only kid in my college class who listened to metal... "Dio can you hear me? I am lost and so alone... I am asking for you guidance... Won't you come down from your throne?"
Heavy metal isn't for everyone because it is esentially a wall of sound, You get bombarded with so many sounds at once it's difficult to tell whats going on therefore it just comes out as noise to the "normal" listener. But if you can hear the bigger picture and how it all comes together Heavy Metal is mindblowing. Not to mention how diverse it is. It varies from epic 8 minute orchestral pieces about fighting dragons to an absolute sonic assault that hits like a 10 ton truck and it can even be pirate themed (No Grave But The Sea HYPE). As for me, i listen to Heavy Metal because it's the first music genre that actually made an impact on me. One of my fondest memories is stealing my brothers Whoracle, putting it in the CD player and getting literally stunned by Jotun, spending the entire album sitting on my bed and staring at the wall with a dumbfounded look on my face.
A person who can tell whats going on with those fucking good riffs and solos are more intelligent than a person who's listening to new pop music and new "mumble" shitty rap. The metal is an emotion and musicality source( same for blues, rock, hard rock and old school pop, rap and disco), that's why im listening to METAL.
Whenever i get that question i always turn it around on them and it ALWAYS goes like this: "Why do you like metal music?" "Why do you like the music you listen to?" "I just do" "Exactly -.-"
"Why do you listen to metal? you cant even understand it? its so satanic and violent?" ????um????why????do????you????care???? As long as i can understand it, that's all that matters. Metal doesn't talk about Satan 24/7 Metal lyrics can consist of helping others, philosophy, religion, logical information, feelings and emotions. Who could not resist Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Dio, Pantera, Gorgoroth, Mayhem, Avenged Sevenfold, Slipknot, Slayer, Cannibal Corpse and Metallica and much more. DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON ROCK, GRUNGE AND CORE GENRES.

"Why do you listen to metal?" Because metal give me wings when I dream, give me strength when I feel weak. It's the catharsis when I need it, and it's the only thing is always there to help you.

I tend to ask the same question despite being into metal myself, it’s just different than pop or rap which offers a more conventionally enjoyable sound. Also different people like metal for different reasons and it’s interesting to hear
I listen to Metal because I think it's just what appeals to me, but specifically I love the willingness to push boundaries, the "don't care what others think" attitude, the community being accepting and friendly, being to able to identify with the bands and artists, the extremity of the music and the fact that we've managed to keep it alive since its beginnings despite being heavily ignored by mainstream culture.
I listen to heavy metal music, because I love the aggression in it and it gives me a chance to really vent my unnecessary aggression. The different vocal styles are just fun to check out. Also, I love the lyrical themes.
jeff collett in my opinion it's generally regarded as punk rock, but depending on the dress style you wear you can definitely show that you're a metal head
I get this question a lot too. I always have, but ESPECIALLY now. I'm pushing 40 and I guess I look a little like a "soccer mom" to some people. I don't mean to, I just wear what feels right to me. But I've always listened to metal and rock, ever since I was a teen (when I definitely didn't look like a soccer mom). Just because my style or looks have changed over the years doesn't mean my taste in music has. But it sure does surprise a lot of people when they find out!
I listen to metal because its fuckin art, other genres like pop or trap or that kind of shit are made to sell, but metal isnt... METAL IS AUTENTIC! And beacuse is so fuckin cool!
Of course! I think some people have herd mentality where if you diverge from the perceived music of black culture, you must be betraying your race somehow because you like 'white people music'. That's dumb anyway considering rock/metal originates with black people and most of the founders of metal were inspired by black musicians.
Some are, but if you're talking about the roots of metal it comes from rock which comes from blues. It's just that metal diverged and expanded it's sound to incorporate other elements but that still the base. Doesn't matter though does it at the end of the day. If you like it who cares what other people think.
If someone ever asked me "why do you listen to metal" I would tell them "because I like to listen to metal" then they would probably ask something moronic like "well what is it you like about metal" then I would have to say "well I often like the writing music" and beyond that I would just tell them "welp that's about it". That is such a dumbass question for a hiring manager to ask.....
I think the way the question is asked really makes or breaks it. While most of the time it's asked condescendingly to criticize someone's taste, a non-metal fan who enjoys music could ask it to gain insight on why people like it and if they would. It's really a question fit more for a full conversation, and it can be applied to any genre. It just sucks that most people use it to try and make people feel bad about their interests.
I listen to heavy metal music because I was bullied on school, I was completely alone and my father didn't cared to give me some advices about how to handle my problems, so I would listen to Heavy Metal and I wouldn't feel alone anymore
Why I listen to metal? To have an alternative, to all that Hit List/Billboard top 100/whatever the shit it is called, nowadays... I like the feel. It's harder to keep up, now, since I'm more into goth music, now, but, once in a while, I'd come back to rock out to some death metal drums, lol.
Completely agree with you. I could list thousands of songs here to justify to people why I listen to Heavy Metal - if I could be bothered. My wife and my daughter also love Metal because they have grown to enjoy it too, through me. I don't twist my face inside out when people rave on and on about pop, rap, jazz, country bla bla bla. Live and let live I say. Keep up the good work werewolf, you seem a decent chap.
Metal takes REAL talent to create and play. Unlike 99.9% of the bland talentless poop that the mainstream sucks up on a daily basis. That's why I listen to metal. And it sounds right.

It's not only because I like it, it is a genre of music that I can strongly relate to & why I consider it my very own sacred haven from all the horrible BS in life.
I listen to metal because there's nothing else like it and it's most intellectual genre that can explore more themes unlike genres of music
that mostly singing about sex and superficiality
I always get told that I look like I don't listen to metal. Nobody ever believes me just because I don't look like the stereotypical metal chick. It ticks me off but at the same time I always like the surprise I get when they find out I actually do listen to metal. 😂
Same here, I look more like a skinhead
I also get "well how would we know that you listen to metal if you dont look like the typical metalhead chick" it pisses me off. its like Sorry that I like to dress nice and wear pretty makeup.
Meaghan Solinger poser lol jk
Meaghan Solinger hey i felt that pressure by many people and im black and they thought i was some hood boy from the ghetto but i was a metalhead and they never liked it but i always like metal cause its beautiful
Gellert Marvolo I'm sorry to hear about getting judged on the color of your skin and the fact you don't look like the stereotypical metalhead. people are just downright rude. :(
Honestly the reason I listen to metal is more of an ease of depression... when some heavy ass Riff comes on I just can't help but feel a since of purpose and acceptance I suppose... probably not the best answer but a true one
Metal is medicinal for me..It helps slow my metabolism down
I listen to Metal because I love the speed, the intensity, and the vibration of the music.
there are simply 2 reasons why boring people don't like metal.......
1. they automatically associate metalheads with skulls, blood and other horror stuff, which is definitely not the case of every metal subgenre, so they just hate it, because they don't know enough about it, they also think that every single metalhead is a rebellious hellraiser and troublemaker, which is also bullshit......
2. some people just don't like the music itself, cause it's too extreme for their own music taste...... I mean, if someone actually likes "music" like Justin Bieber, it is really hard to imagine that particular person liking rock music in general, nor the most quality and extreme version of it......
-not liking metal doesn't make you boring
-people have different tastes in music
-there are tons of wonderful and skilled musicians within different genres
C'mon dude
doodily doo not in pop and rap
It depends the type of metal we are listening to. I stick to heavy metal, thrush metal, nu metal, power metal. I love Metallica and Iron Maiden- i was growing up on them. I hate Black metal or death metal. But I also listen to differeng types of music.
@@clownworldhereticmyron1018 offcourse there are skillful musicians in other genres...... but it's mostly rock genres..... outside of rock music, it's probably only jazz and classical music where you find talented players and songwriters..... I'm not saying if you don't like metal, you are automatically boring..... I myself love progressive music in general, not just metal...... probably my most fav music after metal...... especially those classic bands from the 70's
@@ultron374 there are a few good bands in every metal genre, you just have to dig deeper than what's offered to you by commercial bands...... even Glam Metal or Black Metal have a few good bands......
"How do you even understand the lyrics?"
"I don't care about lyrics."
I'm telling Dave Mustaine what you said!
basically sums up most of electronic music for me.
Example:
_"I think that someone is trying to kill me! Infecting my blood and destroying my mind!"_
Just potent as hell, the way it's placed in the song.
But usually, I don't pay attention to lyrics.
The French Snuff film thing was weirdly specific, is there something you're not telling us?
if you are interested, check out the 1970's "films d'auteur" movement in cinema. there are some things that are really out there. i actually have a printed script of a movie from that time period called "doux glissements du plaisir". i read it but i felt like i was reading pure surrealism. namely, the main actress covers herself in raw egg, script notes include the metaphorical message of her being impregnated by the dichotomy between nature wild and free and nature captive. i'm not making this up either. it gets weird from that point on. it's either mental masturbation or an excess of psychedelic drugs. i'm not sure which.
no, He said it as an example of what he could've said in a situation like that..
Cian, BLack Metal werewolf said it sarcastically
"Why do you listen to Heavy Metal"?
That's What you do with it. You listen to it. That is the purpose of it. That's why it was created.
2:35 That's the combination I never thought I'd hear in my life
I listen to metal because its a badass way of expressing my emotions and sometimes I just wanna scream my anger out and metal satisfies me.
I listen to metal because there's so much talent, patience (in learning an instrument) and over all love involved in the community.
Metal gives me this kind of a powerful and divine feeling. I also listen to it while i am in the gym.
Heavy metal isn't for everyone because it is esentially a wall of sound,
You get bombarded with so many sounds at once it's difficult to tell whats going on therefore it just comes out as noise to the "normal" listener.
I've been dancing to metal since i was 15... I am now 41, and still going. Metal it the best music for dance!
Whenever i get that question i always turn it around on them and it ALWAYS goes like this:
"Why do you like metal music?"
"Why do you like the music you listen to?"
"I just do"
"Exactly -.-"
Metal Music makes you happy and makes you head bang and makes you hyped up a lot
"Why do you listen to metal? you cant even understand it? its so satanic and violent?"
????um????why????do????you????care????
As long as i can understand it, that's all that matters.
Metal doesn't talk about Satan 24/7
Metal lyrics can consist of helping others, philosophy, religion, logical information, feelings and emotions.
Jini Moniz Abated Mass Of Flesh is a Christian death metal band
What's wrong with rock and grunge?
Some people are just closed minded. I am a BTS fan, but I also like to explore different genres of music. To me music shouldn’t have any borders or restrictions. I learned a lot from your channel. Thanks 😊
I listen to what I listen to because I like it
Because I like energy, passion, creativity, escapism, honesty, adrenalin, atmosphere, indulgence
METAL!!!!!
Intensity
Complex
Loud
Exciting
Different
Stands out
Can be peaceful
Good stories
Good poetry
Still use instruments
I appreciate instruments
More than just singing
Growls
Sream
Nothing like it
I will still dance and shake my ass to metal if someone tests me on this theory that you can't TRUST ME!!!
I love metal because I love the lyrics, the music and the variety it gives. It is also great therapy for the soul.
Can you make a video about why you should listen to Metal?
Story of my life. I've always been the weird kid in school and I always had to explain myself and my interests and hobbies no matter what it was. It is quite obnoxious!
my grand mother literally went to Hellfest with me
Metal meemaw!!
@@hilkokriel5659 she actually isn't a metalhead !
"Why do you listen to metal?"
Because metal give me wings when I dream, give me strength when I feel weak. It's the catharsis when I need it, and it's the only thing is always there to help you.
i listen to metal/deathcore cause i just wearing black & love how a crowd of random people can sing songs together during a band performance
I've been listening to metal as far back as I can remember. My dad brought me up with it. It's just something that has always been there. Metalhead forever \m/
"I be polite, because I'm canadian" I - 😂😂💀
When people say to me “You Listen To Metal, Why? It’s stupid!” I say “Because i Can!”
Why do you like metal?
Cuz it's for the sexy people...
For the breakdowns and growls 🤘🏻
Random Person: "Why do you listen to Metal?"
Me: "I just do./or/Why do you care?/or/Everyone likes different music, it doesn't make them taboo./or/What does it matter to you? It's not like I'm forcing you to listen to it."/or/"I just like the sound of the music."
I tend to ask the same question despite being into metal myself, it’s just different than pop or rap which offers a more conventionally enjoyable sound. Also different people like metal for different reasons and it’s interesting to hear
You can't dance? do the toxic waltz man! 😂😂
I listen to Metal because I think it's just what appeals to me, but specifically I love the willingness to push boundaries, the "don't care what others think" attitude, the community being accepting and friendly, being to able to identify with the bands and artists, the extremity of the music and the fact that we've managed to keep it alive since its beginnings despite being heavily ignored by mainstream culture.
the third person : " I like rap & I like Nascar""
Isn't this a oxymoron?
Astraea Reminiec probably not in Florida.
I listen to heavy metal music, because I love the aggression in it and it gives me a chance to really vent my unnecessary aggression. The different vocal styles are just fun to check out. Also, I love the lyrical themes.
when i get those questions, i just ignore them. I mean wtf... why do you like something? Because you like it...
"Why do you listen to metal?"
"Because I fuckin can."
Person: "Why do you listen to metal?"
Me:"Why do you listen to pop?"
Me: "Cuz wood is boring"
Me: "Why dont you?"
Heh
Corey Taylor reference
Don't even worry about it man I know exactly how you feel when people criticize judge people for what they like
This might be a weird question but do you think a Mohawk can be seen as a heavy metal haircut?
jeff collett in my opinion it's generally regarded as punk rock, but depending on the dress style you wear you can definitely show that you're a metal head
More punk. But it doesn't matter, do what you like. Music isn't how you dress or how you have your hair, but it's just what you enjoy and listen to.
jeff collett ehh, udk..its more punk rock than anything
If Joakim Brodén from Sabaton rocks one, why can't you? :]
jeff collett no it's more of punk rock
"Why do you like metal?"
"You're asking a question that requires a lot more explanation than your brain is willing to grasp."
This video has 665 comments. I'm only posting this to get it to 666.
I think I can speak for everyone when I say it pumps you up and you lift to it.
I like death metal
Timothy Sit cool
yeah
Timothy Sit I like Power, Thrash and Symphonic Metal
Me too!
I listen to metal because there are only 2 types of music
-metal (which i choose)
-bullshit
ogmocz what a stupid thing to say have you never looked into jazz, blues and psychedelic music
Misanthropic God Band or Elvis Presley
ogmocz Michael Jackson was kinda Good
Am I the only one that got this was just humour? The rest of you guys need to take it easy.
punk. punk. PUNK!
Luckily I love talking about myself so I love this question
I listen to metal because its fuckin art, other genres like pop or trap or that kind of shit are made to sell, but metal isnt... METAL IS AUTENTIC!
And beacuse is so fuckin cool!
meh
This channel is too freaking interesting
can black people not headbang?
i listen to metal because it sounds good, they are not just about sex and drugs, metal has an actual meaning
pop music is so monotonus and can consist of like 2 words and just feels boring
Of course! I think some people have herd mentality where if you diverge from the perceived music of black culture, you must be betraying your race somehow because you like 'white people music'. That's dumb anyway considering rock/metal originates with black people and most of the founders of metal were inspired by black musicians.
MidnightIsolde but some are inspired by viking culture as well?
Savage Master is from my city, excellent band. Very proud they're on MM14.
Dude, this is the first video I've seen of you and I love this topic. I'm so glad you made a video on it
Why I listen to metal? To have an alternative, to all that Hit List/Billboard top 100/whatever the shit it is called, nowadays... I like the feel. It's harder to keep up, now, since I'm more into goth music, now, but, once in a while, I'd come back to rock out to some death metal drums, lol.
it saved my life it's also therapeutic and it calms me down especially all of the british metal bands good stuff thats for sure love metal
I love the mind blistering brutality combined with intricate melodies, that is why melodic black metal is my fav
I listen to metal cause it's my favorite style of music. \m/
"At that moment I realized that I was gonna be working with a bunch of hillbillies" best part
I absolutely love metal. It relaxes me and I love the guitar riffs and I find it healing.
Because, Metal is life! a better one than this.
Most people say it’s loud and just noise. I enjoy it.
Metal takes REAL talent to create and play. Unlike 99.9% of the bland talentless poop that the mainstream sucks up on a daily basis. That's why I listen to metal. And it sounds right.
i feel like i have many reasons why i like heavy metal music.
explaining anything about metal too a non metal head is like trying to to talk to a brick wall
