    Loving this stove right now, no power tonight after that storm, crappy little inverter running off car battery to power the essentials aka the internet and cellphone.

    I saw a really nice hack.take a small piece of paper put in the grill before you load the pellets. so they don't go flying everywhere. It keeps them contained then you light them no mess. Goodluck

      Or fill your burn basket up before you slide it in stove, then dump in your pellets.

    Thank you so much for sharing! I have been trying to brainstorm what to use as the pipe since the instructions say you need to minimize the bends, but maybe I just have to do what I can and not worry so much if I have bends.

    • @TentFever
      @TentFever Рік тому

      Bends only matter on the flue end, as long as the 4in intake isn’t crushed or kinked it will draw fine. The bottom of the pellet hopper allows room air to also get in.

  • @TentFever
    @TentFever Рік тому +4

    Connecting outside air doesn’t create negative pressure in the house what does cause it is using inside air as the intake air sucking your house air out to burn which in turn causes leaky doors and windows to even draft harder as the house draws air from anywhere it can from the house. Using outside air will prevent even stop puffing and full flue reversals.

    • @TentFever
      @TentFever Рік тому +1

      Opening a window for the first 10 fifteen minutes of starting the fire makes for faster harder draw sooner. This holds true for all stoves and fireplaces.

    We really like your videos about your Liberator Gen 2 Rocket Heater, it is really something, and your tips about operating/enhancing it's performance are great. I would be interested in building a scaled down (maybe 1/2 or 1/3 sized) version to use for heating a small space...a large camper trailer, an old school bus conversion, in an ice fishing shack and in a canvas hunting tent. To get the relative parts dimensions for something like, that I'd need to have the measurements of a full-sized unit so I could scale everything down relatively and accurately. Could you post or draw out and write in the dimensions of all of the pieces for us? I see making a small heater that could be portable and used as I mentioned as something very useful for outdoor and camping use. Thank you.

      rocketheater.com/. I bought mine from here and they have already developed a smaller version that you can take to an ice shack or a school bus or somewhere it's portable and it's smaller and it works very very good so all you have to do is contact them and say hey I want a smaller version of it and buy it from them I of course did not make this.

    11:40: What the small square tube under the big circular side tube is needed for? Does it bring the air to the middle section? If yes, then why not to place the circular tube straight at the middle?

    Hmm, would it make sense to take a big stock pot filled with sand and set it on top of the stove to add some thermal mass? It wouldn't be MUCH but every little bit would help

      I have a cast iron Dutch oven (type with 3 legs) with 1 old ceramic fire brick & filled to the top with small to medium sized river rock.
      After awhile the lid is too hot to touch. It definitely holds heat longer than the steel stove. It keeps releasing heat so I'm sure I get a bit of mass effect.
      Even a large cast iron skillet would help give it that cast iron box stove effect. I bet they could make Gen3 with a cast iron top. I'd buy the upgraded top!

    with the cold air intake piped, does that mean you do not need the electric fan to push the heat from the stove around the room?

    Thank you Steve, hey I have a question, we just got ours installed yesterday, it burns wood great, but we tried the pellet hopper today, can't seem to keep it lit, it burns out after about 5 or 10 minutes. Any ideas? We tried opening a door right by the heater, still burning out so its not fresh air problem. Maybe cheap pellets? Is there a certain brand of pellets that you like to use?

    • @tinbender998
      @tinbender998  5 місяців тому +1

      YesI like to use purecell. Premium fur pellets..... Make sure you're burn basket is exactly underneath that feed pipe... And make sure that your pipe is exactly 19 and 1/4 in. Or like mine 19 and 3/8 I went as far as it would go that only leaves a 1/8 of an inch for the set screw to hold on... Mine works perfectly I haven't had any trouble for over a year now... Yes in the beginning I remember doing that so get yourself a nice stiff wire that you can poke your pellets LOL

      4in cap,4 in star collar,8ft flex dryer hose, 4 in take off with a damper. But the most important thing you need to do is make sure that your pipe going down to your burn basket is exactly 19 and 3/8 in at leaves you 1/8 of an inch for your set screw that seems to be perfect and it burns flawlessly for me

      When the pellets run out after 12 hours there is a bit of creosote on the end of pipe. I have had a small fire that's why I clean it now. Smoke in the house is annoying 😂

  • @mikenagy938
    @mikenagy938 Рік тому +2

    It just seems a little inefficient to me to have to learn this stuff all over when it was common knowledge forty years ago. You are creating a POSITIVE pressure on your house if indeed the intake is from outside. If you are taking the fresh air from a colder basement you are just sucking that air from around windows or doors down there and defeat the purpose. I don't like this rocket stove, that hopper is right in the way to put a fan where the heat is, they made no provision for a slower burn overnight. Who wants to wake up to a cold house after the fire goes out? What is the advantage of burning pellets anyway, unless you live where there are no trees? Common wood stoves today will burn with allmost no smoke, hold a fire overnight, and seem to me need less fussing.

    • @tinbender998

      Yes you're absolutely right lack of education on my part and at the time we had the money to spend and we thought it would be nice to do pellets for once hard to find anybody to bring me some really good wood but I definitely agree with you and the wood stove.
