I’m sorry but every time I watch somebody with these stoves they’re always trying to do something different to it In my opinion the stove needs some real improvements One would be raising it up and put in a large ash pan under it so you can actually burn for a week without having to change it
With all these improvements people are making the manufactor should put them all together for a redesign and make a ultimate stove. ;- ) Or make your own. ;- )
Yep, I love mine too! Was super nervous at first I’d made a mistake when it kept clogging and belching smoke. Good to know we are both getting almost the same burn rate.
You slow the air down to far and you run the risk of the pellets back burning back up into the hopper. Slowing a rocket stove by nature is a no no anyway. They are to be ran full wide open thus the term rocket stove. Do not starve a rocket stove of air flow.
Thank you you are absolutely right I have been running into some problems and I'm looking into some solutions I will show you the solutions as soon as I have it set up thank you again
Yam can. I’m not certain anyone has mentioned it. Try cutting a triangle shape into the yam can. You want the point towards the closed end. That way as you pull the can out a larger triangle is exposed. This should give you a little better/finer control. Merry Christmas!
On my homemade version of the gravity fed pellet stove, I use a sheet of aluminum between the hopper and the heat riser so the pellets didn't get too hot. Aluminum disapates heat better then metal. I usually pulled about a cup of ashes for each 40lb. bag of pellets burned. I made a grate under the burner so the ashes could fall thru into an ash pan. That way I could go a for a few days before cleaning the ashes out.
Ok. You can order and cut the steel. Powder coat it. Install the ceramic liners. Weld it all up. At the end, you will have spent a lot of time. Or, you can pay the expert fabricators to do it for you, and offer free support. That's why it has the price tag it has. If you think a 300 buck heater will be 99% efficient burning pellets...it won't.
@@Tonyncher you are incorrect. They don't just buy parts. They do custom machining, welding, cutting, powder coating and painting. Last I checked, labor, UL and EPA listing was actually worth something.
This is going to be a mixed up answer it's five something a bag up here in Omak Washington but down in Moses Lake and they're nearly 10 bucks a bag so depending on where you live well, wood is just getting very expensive even having people deliver it to your house and you never know what you're going to get so depending on what brand you get anyways I'm sorry I couldn't be much help
So tell me how do you turn trees in the woods into pellets? Do you have to buy your pellets? What happens when the grid goes down? What alternative fuels can be used to run this stove? Would shredded plastic work?
So I am going to make a video today about chunking up my cordwood and I can use that in an emergency if the grid goes down. I always will have cordwood on my property whether I get it or I buy it.
How much does it cost you to heat for a day or week? I was looking at getting something less work to heat my home, but I just wondered if it would be worth it for me. how long does a bag last for you? what size is the bag and how much do they cost? Thanks for the info!
Well for each area the bags cost very in my area my bags of pellets cost $5 something a bag. And I get about 13 and 1/2 hours burn time and that's full on. At night time we just let it go out and we have a furnace backup.

LOL I upgraded to 4-in duct and it works way better

The cost for one of these is outrageous! Will make one myself for under 300 bucks. Several plans on how to make on line.

@@timothyblazer1749 I have looked at all the parts needed, ceramic liners and all, and this could be made for only $500, so yes, they are scalping.

Very helpful video, tnx. How much does a bag of pellets cost these days?

Damn, I think they are about 4 bux a bag here in Maine, I got paranoid and bought 10 ton. You know they aren’t getting cheaper.
@@nghermit4922 $5.80 a bag

Each bag of pellets are 50 lb and the hopper holds the whole thing

Have you observed any creosote build up on your stove pipe and chimney pipe from burning pellets?
Absolutely zero I clean out white fly ash everyone ton of pellets, but I have never ever had any creosote buildup in my chimney
Fireplacedoorsonline.com is where i got my 5 &13/16×5 &13/16 square pyroceramic glass $35.
For good combustion, the door should be closed.
Exactly! The air for combustion should be sucked down the intake pipe from the top. That bag of pellets should last for several days.
He used pyro ceramic glass to visually see the flame. So, it is.
What is a "cookie-sheet?"
It's exactly what it says it is you put cookie dough on it and you put it in the oven at 325° and you make cookies
I bet you paid about $2,500.00 or more for it
