It's amazing how something that is completely second nature can feel so WRONG and alien. I've got hundreds and hundreds of days under my belt and 3 turns of switch riding is enough to make me feel like a complete beginner.
This is me. Yep. Definitely. But this year i'm about to change it. I never gave it too much effort, and I regret that now. Time to change it up. Already on my longboard here in the streets i'm practicing switch, just to get my brain to 180 and make it realize we're really doing this :-D
I’ve rode for so long now and I’ve never tapped into learning switch technique. This last month I started and it gave me the drive to be addicted to going boarding all over again lol. It’s like starting all over! This is great information. Thanks for posting . I’ll be using it on the hill. 🤙🏼
@@iamtherobber3444 agree, a few small tips, like the 'knee tap'. It's been so long since i've learnt snowboarding (and had tips from somebody), i kinda forgot those things because they're so naturaly. But yeah; gotta put in the hours as well... no way around it..

My recommendation: Ride every second run in switch. After some days you don't even feel the difference anymore. Helps a lot with 180 and improvrs your balance in general
@@jeopadierkneipeer1853 Great tip! Sounds pretty brutal, to do it every other run, but if it ends up that you don't feel the difference between regular and switch, i'm all for it
Just found this channel today. I'm currently teaching my 4 year old to ride. I've been riding since around 1992. I've learned a lot in just a few videos here and look forward to getting on the slopes with my son this weekend. This video series is so good for a rider who knows what to do but not why you do it. Thanks a lot Nev! You're awesome.
You guys have the best snowboarding content on UA-cam! Great camera work, concise but meaningful tips, and quick learners for subjects! Definitely showing my kids your videos before we train them up on the slopes! (From Northern California/ Tahoe)
Holy moly, soooooo much improvement over what, like 8-10 minutes! I have the same problem as Austin. Feel super uncomfortable riding switch, like I'm gonna fall 24/7. This is something I need to try.
These videos are brilliant. I've just come back from a holiday and I felt really rusty and it took me much longer to get into my groove. I feel I've likely developed some bad habits. These videos are great at giving pointers and making me think about the basics again. I'll hopefully get away again in a few weeks to put these tips into practice.
Hey Snowboard Addiction. That was awesome. I am from Brazil, due to covid I wasn't able to snowboard since I learned the basics in 2018 and I'm crazy to do it again. Would be mind-blowing to do a class with you, I watch the channel frequently, hopefully it will improve my riding. I'm doing whatever I can to snowboard in march (vacation). Cheers!
Hi a question, so I am 175 cm tall. I weigh around 80-82kgs I like to ride advanced with doing a lot of tricks and all. What length on the board should I use for the best ride?
I learned to snowboard watching Nev and SA over 10 years ago, now I’m using those skills and his video to teach my kids. Amazing content SA, keep up the good work!
It is amazing how those tips actually made his form much better, immediately noticeable. Even on the last part tapping the knee made another noticeable improvement after the initial advice to lean forward. Way less counter rotation on his turns after reminding himself to tap the knee.
I’m regular, and switch it the only way I know how to turn to the right. I haven’t figured how to toe turn yet. Only been riding once a year for the past 4 years though, but I love the sport. I live in the south.
Snowboarding takes time! But that is a great question to ask Nev. He could give you a far better answer than I could. He does a live session every week on ADDICTION+ and can discuss this directly with you: snowboardaddiction.com/pages/addictionplus-live-sessions
Was anyone else nervous for him? Lol It was a great video though and you could really see the progression stage by stage and the improvement that went along with it as he took each instruction.
Came back to the sport after a 20y break and have teens and pre trans I was teaching. Your incredible l. Learned a lot of what I had taught myself is incorrect techniques. Fantastic teacher! I tried going switch all day yesterday including the chair lift. What a mess. I felt like I was a hobbling bumbling first timer all over again.
He’s literally not leaning on his right foot at all. He’s cramping up and leaning into the mountain. When I learned switch I just turned my bindings around and only rode switch all day. After 4 hours it was way easier, and after 8 it became much better. The muscle aches though…
My problem is every time im riding switch my muscle memory fucks me up cause obviously the lead foot changes when going switch but my muscle memory still "remebers" wrong foot as leading one witch f's me up...
Basically learning to ride switch is learning how to snowboard again. Best method i found is to ride switch only for a day. No excuses - you will be embaraced again at lifts, falling constantly with one foot strapped and riding at the speed of snail while your friends are having fun but it will be worth it. Eventually.
I bought gear online and my snowboard from offer up and thought I was gonna tear it up my first time on the mountain. Thanks to Nev and team @ Snowboard Addiction I returned last weekend to hit some blue runs....These videos actually work
I don’t understand how everyone gets heel edge so easy. Toe edge is super easy for me. I think that’s because I’m used to buttering into a toe edge tho.
I will thank you for doing this🤝. This helps me a lot i have nobody to ride with I lost almost all my friends in addiction. Siting alone in the hill and trying out switch for the first times touches my heart with this kind of support. Keep it up snowboard addiction ❤

@@SnowboardAddiction Thanks for your reply, no i never tried changing my 15 degrees angle, i would try it if you recommend it, what it is usally recommended to try? more or less then 15?
Im 100% opposite. When riding switch the steep sections help my board turn more naturally without too much effort. Gravity assisted turns. The flats are harder when I'm riding switch.

Great coaching through this, really good tip with the hand leading.

Is switch the same as goofy when a regular rider ,or if a natural goofy is the boot to board different
Technically but it’s better just to call it switch
nice advance, still have some leaning back problem. but its just so counterintuitive.
