The best snowboarding tutorials! I was at Cypress yesterday and I was making precisely that same mistake on my toe-side turns. I think it feels weird to give your back towards the downhill so I tend to twist my body instead of being aligned to the board. As soon as I tried to be aligned to the board, my toe-side turns became more stable. Still need more practice to get rid of the bad habit. Thanks!
I really like when people are able to teach things good and explain what happens if u do this or that. But you are extremly good at it! Thx so much for your work =D
Started watching your videos in prep for my first season this year. Thanks to you, I'm carving blacks and working on my ollie's and popping off rollers. Appreciate the help!
Good luck bout there! Don’t be discouraged if you fall a lot, it’s part of the process. What matters is that you keep getting back up and facing your fears and fixing your mistakes
I did that yesterday. But i went into it with zero knowledge 😁. As a result i had a lot of fun (and subsequent pain due to failing). But i didn’t give up until i felt confident on the board.
Goodluck! SA videos helped me from beginner to now doing black diamonds in tight trees and progressing in the park! Just by watching the videos, youll remember a few body position tips and hopefully thatll get you up and running sooner! Goodluck!
She got it right away- nice👌 So many people need to know this technique. Keep that front shoulder down! 😅 --- Get more power in a hs turn by “reaching” slightly toward the nose of the board with you rear arm while keeping your front shoulder in line- This will also give you more leverage from your rear arm going into the next ts turn 😉 Sorry just had to give my 2c 🥴
i feel like do the slightly open on toe edge as well, but its because im trying to see down the mountain more, like i feel uncomfortable not being able to see down if that makes sense
I can see that the heel edge turn of Jess used to be leaner and carve-like, but then with bending the knees and ankles, she is skidding. So the question is for carving, should we tend to push the board out or try to bend the ankle more?
I would also be interesting to know this. When I bend my knees, I thought the lower gravity would give me more leverage and help me stack my weight on the edge for better grip, but I actually skid more.
Thank you for all the content! I feel I do the same because I am afraid of not seeing the bottom of the hill… which I feel is an issue in multiple aspects. Any suggestions of how to keep a good view of the hill while riding?
You dont need to see the bottom of the hill at all times. You just need to scan forwards a few yards, looking further the faster you go. But have some situational awareness of your surroundings
Her body shape was much better, but she still needs to drive that front knee into the turns. You can see from her trail that the board is still flat on the snow and she’s not engaging her edge as she moves across the the slope. My BASI instructor made me start to really push the front knee into turns and immediately the turns because smoother.
Hey Nev I've had this question bouncing around in my mind for quite some time and was wondering if you could answer it for me? Is it a bad Idea to set up my front binding slightly more forward then my back binding? The reason I'm asking is because when I set up both my bindings on the reference point I find I don't have much stability and can't really do a squat (with the board I'm currently using) and If I were to move both bindings outwards to the next available stance it feels too wide. So basically I feel like I need somewhere in between the widest stance and Reference. P.S. I do not have an EST system. Love the videos this one helped especially!
You never want to have your bindings more towards the nose, it will create instability and feel really awkward. If you need to offset your bindings to get the proper stance, always default towards the rear. More nose = more stable. If your bindings have adjustment holes to center the bindings between the toe and heel side and you don't need them, you can rotate your disks sideways to get more stance width adjustment.
@@DC1789 No worries. I've been riding for decades and still screw with my stance all the time, trying to find the right setup for the board and conditions. It's mostly personal preference, but sometimes just riding and getting used to it is the best option as well!
Whenever i do a toe side turn, i go directly into a toe skid. Basically a j turn into a skid. What am i doing wrong? My weight was on my right foot (goofy)
Generally with steady balance carv switch from one edge to another by initiate with arm and leaning one side to another with weight spread evenly. If you want sharper faster turn you can put more weight on front foot to initiate and slice turn faster
I basically never ever snowboarded in my entire life, but here I am taking serious notes for when I'm able to say in the ancient tortoise style "My time has come"
F*ing adds these days are a complete abuse! It's use to be "because we need to make money" now it's just "we're gonna squeeze every bit of money we can from the attention people give us no matter how unnecessary it is"
Nev is such a perfect coach very calm, informative, knows nearly everything about technique and explains it in easy to understand way...
Wow, thank you!
Nev is such a good coach, so patient, positive and passionate. Thanks for all the videos. They truly help.
This teaching content is consistently top tier

added to my snowboard list without watching knowing your content will be top tier anyways, thanks for the knowledge
Great video Nev I love how you still have us a watchable video even if it isn’t the full paid version👏
She’s got my board!🙌 Great vid!
And again so in love with these vids! Great Job

Gonna be snowboarding for the first time ever soon. Your videos have already helped me a lot, hope I can do it. 🤘

You’re probably gonna get frustrated, but don’t give up.
I hope you’re in shape and don’t smoke lol
Let us know how it went! 😊

loves these. even though i dont get much time to hit the slopes i like watching for when i do!
Wow, that's some crucial info explained really well. Thank you!
I really enjoyed watching this video. everything just looks so nice and beautiful!
amazing location and conditions !
Great video. Over years I've developed these same bad habits.

If me and a group of us are coming up can you do an instructed tour

Yes
The optimal stance to lean how to carve regular is both feet at positive angles. The front can have more angle than the back foot.

@@-tr0n ahh ok thank you for the advice! I can never seem to find an answer to that exact question no matter how I worded it in the search engine🙄

Also do you lean into an edge and then start knee steering or do you use knee steering to initiate your edge?

Hey Nev, where is that snow resort?
Whister BC Canada
What kind of pants are your khaki colored ones? I like how they look
What resort is that? That's so beautiful
Whistler Blackcomb

Awesome! We hope you find your dragon warrior riding skills this season:)
Must be fully veexinated to enjoy snow
Your body instinctively goes where your eyes are looking. You can’t safely drive a car looking out the side window.
Focus and Keep it simple kids.
Well said!
Nice tips, good instruction. Pity, almost no change 4 the lady. Hope though she can accommodate these advices
