I just love this work. I’ve been feeling lots of flight energy today and yesterday in my stomach area for no apparent reason (I knew it was a release of old stress as I’m currently in the process of healing trauma and a chronic illness) but I didn’t know it was connected specifically to coming out of helplessness mode which I have been doing recently. It feels like all my social anxiety/fear is coming to the surface (even though I’m at home alone). Very cool. I love it when you stumble across the perfect video at the perfect time 🫶🏻
I was 62 before I found out that my chronic crying as a baby (until I was weaned off the breast at 11 months) was from being addicted to my mom's anti depressives at birth (and beyond)that she was taking for a miscarriage that happened the year before I was born. She ended up pulling my good leg out of the socket by 30%, and the bad leg I can only imaging was at least 50%, as it prevented me playing tennis or volleyball or running track. I am still a crier whenever I am stressed or misunderstood. I have a lot of internal dialog that I am fearful of voicing to this day as i was always shouted down, ridiculed, blamed, scapegoated, etc. Living alone with pets has been my only escape.
My integral doctors were the best thing I found outside of having access to somatic experts and trauma experts. I spent decades going back and forth to doctors that gave me the same runaround until I was diagnosed with chronic PTSD.

Besides happening early in a child’s life it can happen ( as to me) In pre birth. I froze prior to being born. I was a double breach birth and basically got stuck. No one knew not even me. During a 10 day Vipassana retreat at 65 I experienced the tight rings of the umbilical cord surfacing around my neck. At the end of the sitting I went to the bathroom to look in the mirror. The scars around my neck were clearly visible. The rash is still there now. Only now am I starting to defrost. Of course a hell of a lot of stress has accumulated in my lifetime. My nervous system has to be managed to release this. Another point very important and not addressed is our life force energy. A month ago in another retreat I experience 7 hours of life force energy release. This is slowly transforming me. @Valerie-vt5rp, thanks for pointing this out, great to hear that you're loving the info Irene provides! It’s slamming on the brakes, I can’t flee deer in the headlights freeze quick… This is accurate - the dorsal vagal branch is unmyelinated, and it also serves as a brake for the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) in a less refined, "sloppier" way than the myelinated ventral branch does. @johnsaul3021, the different branches of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) and their related functions are postulated by Stephen Porges in this Polyvagal Theory. In short, ventral vagal physiology enables us to feel connected (to ourselves, others, the world around us) and to feel safe in this connection.
