I am definitely going to practice more, I tend to watch a lot of study videos then feel scared to start my own study. I appreciate all your sharing of your work to help us get better at painting an icon.

Antonis I was told that good gilding is what sells the icon. I think it’s a good topic for next video I’m a painter and I’m struggling with gilding with oil mixtion. God bless you ❤

I'm a beginner. I've painted an icon with acrylics before but I'd like to begin using Egg Tempera. I've read that acrylic gesso should not be used with egg tempera. Is there a ready made sizing available or must I make it from grounds? I've read about Chalk Ground and Sinopia Casein Gesso. Is there a different product you would suggest and do you have a video on preparing panels? Thank you and your work is inspirational!

16:30 That's horrible. Let's be realist and understand that a lot of artists started from very humble beginings. Sometimes people become harsh just because they can and enjoy it. Let's face it: a benevolent artist or iconographer would give a constructive criticism and would not make you fell worthless. One of the biggest obstacles as a begginer is that people are not patient enough with you during your evolution and learning process. And the soo called 'established artist'... I understand that the experience and school and diploma matters. But when you behave like a Faraoah pretending you are the best.. Well, you are the best? Prove it! You can? Very well, go forward. If you don't want to help, at least stop criticize for no reason... Poor kid. I know how it feels. Kindness, unlike other things, doesn't cost.
