I have to give you 100% for entertainment value. I have watched so many of your videos The panhard i started watching one evening and it was daylight before I went to bed. all the way through you driving it to the show Love the p4 and p6 Rovers great stuff and now this Capri Keep up the videos super, super job Thank you
That's superb Andrew thank you for saying so!
Same for me mate! I stumbled across the P4 video one afternoon, watched all of them in one go. Since then ive caught up on everything from the last year and a half. Cant get enough haha. Highlight of my week now!
Hi Ben, great video and a superb job with the rear 1/4 and arch, can't wait for the next episode 👍@@tastyclassics
Hi if you still have your old scrap leaf springs of the capri I'd buy them get in touch please
I agree, missed the Capri last week so watched both last night, daylight when I went to bed. I would love the time to be able to do what you do Ben! keep the videos coming, highlight of the week!
Next time I visit National Tyres I'm going to insist on seeing the specific rubber plant the rubber came from to manufacture the tyres. 'Company policy mate, I can't buy tyres without seeing the plant....'
They're linked to halfords. So I'll not use them!
@@fill7t1 same here
@@fill7t1 Its hard to buy stuff from Halfords without entering your reg No. I can't be arsed with so go elsewhere....
So I guess it would be same then if you drop a wheel with a puncture 🤔 you wanted repaired ?
@@Ivorbiggin company policy mate......we only fit new tyres not repaiar them .......company policy mate
Criminally underrated Channel. Drop some likes & comments people ✌🏻
Couldn’t agree more, why would you watch one of Bens videos but not subscribe!
people will catch on just takes time keep leaving mesages and likes always helps
Totally true. Ben’s awesome.
It absolutely is. Nice to see Ben's Mum in there too, but his aunty (the redhead) is stunningly pretty. She appeared in an earlier video all too briefly.
OMG National Tyres policy - whole car must be present in order to fit new tyres to the wheels - never heard the like - clearly made up by someone who has no clue. Absolutely nuts! Imagine if the local parts place was refusing to sell you a set of new spark plugs or something like that unless the whole car was present!
Yes what a load of complete bollocks , what if you wanted to just drop off a wheel a puncture ?
The absolute renegade wiper change of a man who's never had an arm swing back down and crack a windscreen
The windscreen will have to come out anyways to fix the rust on the frame.
Yepp. I learned the hard way... Now I always cover the glass with a towel or similar first.
Yep I cringed watching that 🫣
I’m downloading this in a queue at Manchester airport right now waiting to board a plane to Germany to watch rammstein so this will fill the time in nicely
Lucky you, got to see them in Glasgow in my twenties.
Brilliant show 👍
The Ford Capri - The car you always promised yourself 🙂
The more I watch the more I enjoy your style of presenting. Thanks for all the hard work both on and off camera.
One of the most enjoyable resto channels out there. No need to change anything in regard to the delivery
Never wanted a Capri, absolutely never had a picture of a 2.8i on my wall either. 😂
That's why you are absolutely not watching this video and commenting. Don't ask me how I know 😂
Then you missed out didn’t you, Capri had a big following in the day .
@@charls881 Errr it was total joking, sorry if it didn't come across properly. My uncle had a 2.8 and next to the Countach, that was my boyroom poster dream car. Still today I own a fast Ford, not a Capri though but a Fiesta RS Turbo 🙂
Ben, looking forward to another episode...love the combination of informative dialogue, getting cars back on the road and humour. In the best possible way I'd say you were the Tommy Cooper of the Automotive world!
As long as he doesn't share Tommy's exit plan on a live stream 😬
@@KrisDouglas did tommy cooper have the covid vaccine 🤷♂🤷🤷♀
its good to see how much effort bodywork really takes
Its so nice to think that this will be still around in years to come and all these new milk floats would of been and gone or self combusted.
Sat watching this whilst wet sanding a Tamiya Grasshopper shell that reacted badly to paint. Quite appropriate.
Dalton @polebarngarage would be proud of you using a nibbler. It is one of his favorite tools.
Ben, probably best to replace that nearside front wing. By the time you've welded plates in, then ultimately the final paint, new wing and final paint. Saves lots of time
More content and more Ben is what I like
@@gerssupporter8675 would be plenty og content getting a new wing to line up nice to be fair 🙂 but either choice is fair by me.
@@grrfy Can one get OE spec wings for these anymore? I heard pattern ones don't fit worth a damn on these...Ben would have to spend hours fettling with them to get them to fit right. Might be better to repair the originals?
ian will be looking down on you thinking this guy cares about cars and i feel he would be proud to see his capri being given a new life with you . keep up the great work and make ian very proud.its good to see a classic ford capri saved from the crusher. and i feel in the future when you fully respray the car and show ian's family the final results there will be tears of joy...great video as always
Huge admiration for your positive spirit!
That foam was something Ford loved to do. Makes repairs VERY difficult.
Found it in Grenadas and Fiestas from what I can remember.
That ramp must be a godsend
I had a black 1.6 laser fitted with a 2.9i 12v v6 from a Sierra absolutely loved it, and i also had a crystal green mk3 Ls fitted with a 2litre pinto made to look like a 'S'. Had almost every part off the capris fixed and painted the majority of the bits myself very easy cars to work around. I blame my dad for the love of them as he had 6 over nearly 30+ years of my life 😂
My similar age Capri had copious amounts of expanding foam, too.
Cos National Tyres want to tell you you need a new exhaust, shocks etc etc?
They can't sell you new brakes, shocks and an exhaust if they can't see the car. KwikFit took over two hours to fit two tyres for me recently, despite having an appointment booked. Never again.
Loved part two and I am with you on the rust protection bit. It’s all about how you maintain your motor, you will never really stop rust. I do have my favorite products though.
Best car Chanel on UA-cam support your local nutcase loving your work ben
Hi Ben,
Nice speaking to you this afternoon down Diagon Alley lol
That bloody selfie i took failed to materialise, we’ll have to do it again some other time
Wishing you well with the Channel Budd, 👍👍👍
Great to meet you mate, proper bloke doing bits on your own classics lot of time for that!
Cant believe how positive you stay when finding huge rusty holes badly filler-ed..... wish you sold your enthusiasm on the merch site!!
Incredible work as always your talents know no bounds Ian will be up there smiling knowing his Capri is in safe hands 👌👌
As a female, I fully appreciated the "oh bodywork, bodywork for you!" 😂😂😂
When that one used to come on it was so loud it would scare the crap out of me lol

"Haha, what's this 'rust' stuff you talk about"?
😩😩😩🤣🤣
@@tastyclassics currently in my garage..
'76 450se Mercedes,
86, 90 and 93 Saab 900s (sedan, hatch and convertible).
2010 Subaru.
None of which have any rust.
But having grown up in the UK. It is still a major surprise when I look underneath and not even find a crusty exhaust manifold stud or furry brake pipe.
you see we don't have a supply of red dust to get all over everything from going out bush so the cars generate the red dust themselves
The lift must be the best tool ever, great work
Great GREAT vid on this Capri!
everywhere I went in the late 70's, as a young boy, i was alawys looking at capris, i bet if you asked my mum now what my favorite car is she would say a capri lol . awesome channel btw
Got 4 new MV3's for my M-Sport. Sourced the tyres myself. Loaded them into the R56 and took them to a local tyre fitter. They fitted (for cash) at discount. I was told leave them and pick them up in an hour. National Tires are jokers...
yeah my local independent tyre place is so busy they would just be happy you weren't taking up space on the forecourt.
I had a Capri 2.0S in red as my 2nd car when I was 19 years old in the Army in 1999. Then had another 3 over the years when they cost £500 with 6 month MOT and Tax lol. Those days were the best for cheap, fun and great looking 80's cars. Great videos and excellent workmanship!
I had a Capri 2.3L in red as my 3rd car when I was 21 years old in the Navy in 1985. It was a 1978 Mark III when they cost about £600 with 12 months MOT and Tax lol. I didn't have any more over the years, as I moved onto little BMWs, working my way up as I got promoted. Now retired, I drive a 20 year old Fiesta, which my dog loves, and is allowed to moult in. Ben, great videos and excellent workmanship! (ps, Join the Navy, see the world. Join the Army, see the next 😅)
I knew the Capri episodes wouldn’t disappoint - and I was right. This is my favourite car content UA-cam channel. Your presenting style is excellent and the Capri is coming along might fine 👍👍👍
Tonnes of progress on the capri it’s coming along great looking forward to future videos
Always loved a capri.
You made a lovely job of that arch 😎
Great job on the welding, as you say a very tidy capri.
One of the best videos you've done so far Ben. Keep up the great work.
New sub. Loving this series.. The Covid Capri! Have some good memories of the famous fords, 40 and counting! Big love for what you do.. 💙
Just love watching you bring these old beauties back to life.!
Very nice welding, that quarter panel looks mint
Fudgie , on 6D Diesels is also rejuvenating a Capri so he might know of a bonnet . You're making a great job of that Capri and I'm sure that Ian is looking down and smiling at you
Benny! You spoil us old boy. 👌
National tyres have been taken over by Halfords, probably explains it
Hi Ben loving the capri content great to see it being saved. Can’t wait to see the st170 engine dropped in. Thanks for your hard work making the channel so awesome keep up the great work.
Chester National Tyres are an absolute joke. I used to use them for various things but when I lived in Hoole, I used Hoole Tyres on Lightfoot Street. They are great guys and very helpful and cheap too.
Awesome! Loving all your episodes but especially the Capri, as I'm a ford fan. Great work 👊👊
Great effort Ben.... get an inside cover for the Rover and Spit as all that flying debris and paint spray has to settle somewhere and the Spits new coat is to nice to find little spots on later down the line....
Ben I absolutely love this stuff . I used to be enthusiastic about doing things like this years ago . Age and the inability to crawl about under cars now has put paid to that 😂.
Wheeler Dealers , Car SOS have no comparison to your One Man Band 👌👌👌
Thanks for the entertainment don't forget the distributer cap next when you try to start a car.
Tell you what, that's looking bloody God damn Tasty!
Excellent , this is what UA-cam was made for, straight talking bloke you can relate to and would have a few beers in a pub with talking about cars and such .
Can't wait to see some Capri Sun action. 😁
"Rust never sleeps" - Neil Young 1979
Ben you are rapidly becoming a national treasure! Loved every minute and the bodywork skills are amazing to watch. Can't wait to see an ST 170 engine in it, innit!
Love this car and you're doing a great job on it
Ha ha 😂, I thought it was only me who had problems with the negative in this world 😅. Company policy!. Hilarious 😂
Great video's Ben, loving the capri resto...Cant wait for the next installment👍👍
I went to National Tyres for a puncture, was told I had to book an appointment 🤷 drove to small garage round corner, fixed in 30 mins. Never been back to NT since.
Evapo-Rust is a water-based rust remover that's formulated to clean away rust to leave behind bare metal. Edd China used it in one of his video, works well.
Nitro-Mors do one that's basically the same stuff but cheaper. I've used it for soaking various nuts, bolts and brackets and it seems to work well - in fact I've got 6 front lower suspension arm bolts soaking in some right now.
A great episode, thanks for putting in the effort to film it all. I appreciate it must be a ballache to do when you trying to get a job done. Thanks again. I can't wait for the next installment.
When I was 14, my mates older brother rocked up in one of these. It didn't have enough umphh to do donuts
Great episode certainly a talented bodywork guy, can't wait for next installment
Great video loved it. Brilliant work that rear 1/4 looks great
Brilliant as always! Great content and fantastic presenting too! Can’t wait for the next 👌
Love your vids Ben, keep them coming Chief.
Looking good, really glad you are keeping it looking standard.
Well done it’s looking good
Making good progress there Ben. That foam is standard Ford for sound deadening you need to remove all of it to avoid it rusting in the future. They also do repair panels for those lower rear quarters which would have saved you some time. No need to pull the door pins they are bolted on just behind the glove box and lower panel. Looking forward to the next episode 😊
Just found your channel. Love it - and I don't even own a Classic. Just enjoy seeing how it's done. Thanks.
With the amount of cars you work on, I expect over the years, they are going to lose a lot more than 250 quid. Over the last few year, I've had a fair few knackered locking wheel nuts, on our various cars & vans. Found welding another nut or short stubby bolt onto them works well.
Looking good look forwards to seeing more 😊
Hi...awesome project. We still have a few capri's running in South Africa
Can’t wait for part 3 Ben 👍
Hello
The Capri was 3 miles faster when the rust was out!
Greetings from Cologne area Germany
I like this channel good content nice bloke no pressure takes everything in his stride sense of humour doesn't panic says it as it is
Hey Ben-your welding skills are immense. I never really got involved in bodywork so to see you at a relatively young age with your ability is just great. I will venture on to your merchandise page and spend some dosh to help you out. Top man.
Another great episode. Looking forward to seeing this car come together. Marc from Australia
Great work Ben. Massive talent you have 👍🏻👍🏻. Great weekend mate
First class episode, fascinated watching you make and fit the repair panels, nice job doing the rear rounded corner. Just the other side now, hope that pans out as good as this one.
You've done a great job on this car. I loved every minute of the video. Ref: Halfords Windscreen Wipers: The first time I needed to change them on my first car I went to Halfords and got in the queue to ask for some assistance in fitting them. As I got closer to the desk I heard a collective groan of disappointment from my entire male genetic line. "Don't do it my son, read the manual". Needless-to-say, but I did just that and 5mins later had them fitted. I've never felt so manly. I got nods of approval from all the men in the car park too! Keep up the great work on the channel!
I worked at halfords when I was a spotty teenager, back before they offered a paid fitting service but we used to fit bulbs, wipers and anything up to a stereo if the customer asked. I never had an ounce of training so all these grown adults were getting an untrained kid who was too young to have a driving licence to work on their car. I lost count of how many times I did a job on a customer's car just by reading the instructions on the packaging and borrowing tools off the display. If you ever bought a 10mm or 13mm spanner from Halfrauds while I was working there it was guaranteed to have been used to fit at least one car battery before going out the door.
Getting lots done, matey. It’s coming on nicely. All the best
I live in Arizona and I never worry about rust, only heat strokes🥵👍
You make it look so easy! What a fantastic collection of cars - the 60s and 70s produced some real gems, and it's great to see someone rescuing a goodly selection and in such an entertaining way.
Great to see the welding being done good ( not being rude about other work !) going to be a nice capri what ever direction you take her.
those wheeltubs are in better nick then any of the 3 Mk3 Mondeos I have owned which are 20 years younger than the Capri 👍
I've got a 1976 , 3 litre GXL Granada , I love old Fords but I prefer the big saloon to the coupe , but great to see you restoring that beautiful car Ben
How do you not, fall asleep listening to the rain. 😊
I still have a complete electronic ignition system, carefully extracted from a 2.0 Sierra, left from my days cobbling scrap together to try and extract some more miles from it. I bought the Sierra, already scrapped, but still running, for spares .
I used the engine, but kept the entire ignition system intact, carefully unwound from the loom, for a project Cortina that ended up not happening.
The mileage I was covering at the time made adjusting points and timing such a ball-ache, that I wanted my personal Cortina to be free of such hassles. I acquired a 2.0 Pinto engine from a late Granada, hours before it went in the crusher, but couldn’t get the ecu for it’s funny carburettor, so I decided to use a Weber, along with my ex-Sierra ignition, rather than try to make the computerised junk work.
Then the Cortina got stolen and burned, before I could finalise the purchase, so the project never happened.
When I get back to work, probably after two full years in recovery, I can’t expect to be busy, so maybe I’ll have time to find another home for my 2.0 Pinto and one of the type 9 transmissions I have salted away. The other is supposed to be going into an automatic Granada Scorpio, with the 2.0 dohc engine, for which I had just bought the manual type sump, when I had my accident. Unsure whether that’s still happening, now. 18 months outside in all weather might have put paid to that.
But overall, I have lots of Ford-y stuff I look forward to playing with, once I’m finally back in the workshop. All I lack is actual cars to fit it to.
Another great instalment of operation Ford Capri, Thanks Ben.
Had a 3.0 S Capri in my youth, ran on the same 185/70x13 tyres, it did spend a fair bit of time sideways!!
Awesome mate. You and Dalton are my two fave resto channels.
Absolutely love @polebarngarage
My favourite car channel. Very nice.
I came in on the Rover 820 ... piqued my interest as I used to have one in the early 90s . Watched most of your videos now ,absolutely brilliant channel ..... I even bought a cap , though I have to explain to folks that its not me thats the tasty classic ! 😄👍lets see the 40k subs !!
Another great episode!
Top work as always Ben, throughly enjoyed watching this episode and looking forward to the next part of the rover project 👍🏻
Oh yeah. I have recommended this channel to anyone daft enough to listen to me!
