  • Here I show how to change the cam position sensor in my Honda Civic. I believe this applies to all the 1.7l 2001-2004 Civics. Total time was about 30min to remove and another 30 to install with my help. Pro tip, when you’re selling one, just let the engine bay stay grimy with road sand.

Thanks for the demonstration! A lot easier than I’d thought it would be. Appreciate it. Hope you and the kid are doing well.

Awesome video, I have been having the same issues and ran an OBD reader and got the camshaft position error. I was scared to pull the valve cover off but you made it look super simple. Thanks so much!

    Great video!
How did you remove the cables/wires on top of the valve cover. Some if it go towards the back and dime towards the front and both ends are connected. Appreciate any help. Thanks

Did this fix the check engine light and the limp mode?

i had this same problem. I purchased a new TDC sensor and it was bad working. Maybe a couple months later my car was having problems starting. Super long cranks + pressing the pedal. Doesn’t have any issues driving. I’ve changed the fuel pump twice recently and got new spark plugs. My mechanic thinks the TDC sensor is starting to go out. It was a after market one. Do you think it’s the TDC sensor. Is that a sign of a bad TDC sensor?

Hey I'm having a bit of problem with my 2003 Honda Civic EX when I step on the gas it's a real sluggish like take off and I cleaned the throttle body and I still don't get the power and the acceleration that I want I don't know which sensor I blown out but when I was driving one of the sensors blew out so and it's like my car doesn't go over 50 and it just stays like in one gear and I'm pretty sure it's not the transmission because when I driving three it gets the takeoff that I want but when I put it back in regular drive it's like real sluggish so I was trying to see if you know like any other suggestions that I should do

And another thing my RPM gauge won't move or my hot and cold gauge when I turn the car on the RPM gauge move and a hot and cold gauge will go back to like normal if I was driving the car for a while and it'll go back to like the middle but once my check engine light stopped flashing then the RPM gauge and drop in the hot and cold gauge is dropping then the car just drive like crap

Hello i have the engine light on with p0341 code for the camshaft sensor. The problem i have is that the car is hard to start when the engine is hot. And when its cold its never a problem. I dont think its the camshaft sensor problem. Do you know what can cause that issue ?

any news on the red hot exhaust? I apparently have the same problem. should I get the cam sensor fixed but ignore the red hot exhaust?

The cam sensor fixed the exhaust issue. The computer defaults into very retarded timing so a lot of unburnt fuel collects in the exhaust where it burns instead of in the engine.

I have a bad tick after my cam position sensor broke then made it go into limp mode. I changed the oil it, did rocker arms today and it still ticks. It don't tick while in park or 1st gear. When it shifts into 2nd then it ticks. After reading your reply I'm thinking my exhaust gaskets took a beating. So hopefully it's my exhaust and not a lower end problem. Thank you making this video. God bless..
