Yup I noticed this right away when I bought the car and was a little worried, glad there is an easy fix! awesome. Will definitely be keeping an eye out for any of these civic videos. What is the doohickey with the gasket we remove in the video? Also never included the gasket/plug info in description** Im sure over time this might get a lot of views

The part is called the Exhaust gas recirculation valve (egr) for short it’s pretty much useless it’s just so the car meets emissions you can delete it but it’s not recommended
I get a squealing sound and the once the car gets up to temperature it starts to smell sweet and it also has a very rough idle it will bounce from 100rpm give or take to like 1200rpm I can’t figure out what it is I’ve been watching so many videos trying to make a guess at what it is
@@ethankorstrom3630 check the belts to make sure they are tight but not over tight. Make sure they are clean from any foreign material like antifreeze or oil. If all good it could be a pulley thats on its way out and starting to seize. Good luck
Not a mechanic but what I recall from previous experience head gasket leeks mixes coolant and oil and causes that scent quick check is check your oil make sure it looks normal amd not like milk
i’m fixing this soon in my civic. does the oil need to be drained or if i have it half full can i take off the cap with no problem? not in the mood to drain so i may wait for the rest to leak out if i have to 😅
I’m working on to replace that cap what socket number do you use to remove the EGR before getting to the cap cause I tried 10,11, and 12 it just not fit 🤬
It is 12mm, but they can be real tight. One of mine came out but the other is slipping now and won't budge, looks like I am stuck. I tried to force a bit harder and and is no good now.
I realize that its been a month and this is probably a non-issue for you , by now. But just in case you are still struggling (and also for the posterity of future viewers), there is a compound/paste/formula called “Anti-Sieze” that you can butter the bolt/screw with. Let it penetrate for a while, then give it another try. That stuff has loosened some impossibly stuck metal on metal in my experience. For Your Help - Dr Steve Brule.
What was the round thing that you took off and replaced the gasket It looked like a little can,, And it had a plug that you unplugged Your video was really helpful and I appreciate it thank you
That thing your talking about is called the Exhaust gas recirculation valve (Egr valve for short) I had a problem with it on my civic it got stuck shut I bought a new egr valve and it wasn’t the valve itself so if you get a code pop up for egr there’s a chance it’s just the piglet itself and not the egr valve itself so be sure to check that the piglet is connected and staying connected mine would wiggle lose and I had to rewire a new piglet on
Dude great job this I the best video that shows how to do it.
I have 1998 Honda Civic Ex leaking in the same exact spot... thank u so much... u definitely have a new subscriber....

My Honda Civic 2004 stop moving when I drive for a Long distance the gear slipping and when I park for about an hour it's start moving again
it's the EGR valve
You’re the first to recommend gasket sealer. Would you suggest cleaning the EGR valve since you have it out?
You could but I didn’t do it👍🏻
If your using silicone, why not just re-use the old plug?
For a couple bucks why not buy a new plug it comes with a new rubber gasket and I add the silicone for extra protection..
Very helpful video
whats gasket called or the part that requires gasket

Hello, what do you think about a 2001 honda civic lx. And my car wouldn't drive cause oil or something is froze is that possible.
No oil can cease the engine or freeze up. Have to see if it cranks at all. Could also be timing belt.
What's the part called again
Camshaft cap💪🏻
