I think the mayfly larvae is paper thin because that's how real mayfly larvae are. But the hellgrammite one is ridiculous. I've caught real hellgrammites that were a good deal thicker than that. If someone made that mayfly mold in z-man style plastic so it would be more bouyant and tear less easily then I would buy it in a heartbeat. I wonder if there are limitations to how delicate of a mold you can get with that plastic, or if companies just haven't decided it would be economical for them 🤔 Anyway I will twitch stuff like that on a tiny jighead on my fly or tenkara rod when I go after "big" longear sunfish. They get surprisingly finicky for a 6 or 7 inch fish.

I stopped using Power Bait and anything else from the market. I made my own bait and seems to work well. I was at lake at 6:30 and by 12 I landed 27 trout. I think it works ☺️
Yes, i have. Unfortunately i don't share your sentiments. First, they are not micro. They are rather large. Try the bg-1 jigs at ifishtackle.com. That is micro. Second, they are not beautiful. Try the BG-1 jigs and tell me which is more beautiful! : )

To me the life of the feather as far as insects go imitates the vibration and movement they make. That's why a general representation works probably 99% better than exactly molded but not scaled up around 4 or 5 times. I know a young fellow at the lake who wharf fishes and catches lots on the hellgrammites. I know fish like plastic and even catch trout with 2 or 3 big bass sinkos in their stomach.
i have made a similar point, that realistic is not important. But being flat is hard to thread on a hook. Also it looks weird. Just give me something that looks like a worm, even if its not realistic

@@ifishcatfish Yes indeed. I was only able to get about 2weeks of fishing in due to a busy work season but I was able to get a nice bunch of jumbos
