Those of you who think you need bearings on the spool for smooth drag... Every time I fish my Legalis i am shocked at how smooth the drag is without any bearings. You need soft felt, soft spring on the tension knob, and good drag grease. Good drag grease does make a difference because cheap grease is sticky.
It cracks me up when I fished at the local ponds and folks are just amazed when they see you catch a fish in it. They always say "I didn't know there were fish in there". I will have to do this. It's too windy to hit the cooling lakes with the boat. Nice outing..
Who is 'They'? I actually don't think trout magnet is special. But it is very cheap and very durable, and because it has no tail and no action, it is up to the angler to make it move right. Catching bluegill on worms doesn't take much of anything. Catching them on trout magnet - you have to work a little
I currently have a Fenwick Elite Tech River Runner Ultra Light 8’ fast action rod. I broke the rod on my last trip to WV. This was the best, most sensitive rod I have ever owned. Unfortunately, the rod has been discontinued. I was considering either the Dawai Presso 8’ or the Fenwick Eagle 8’. The Eagle is not an ultra light, but sure looks like one from the specifications. I would appreciate your recommendation regarding the rod selection. I only fish for trout by dead drifting the bait. I spin fish like you would nymph fish with a fly rod. Thank you so much for your help.
Daiwa presso would be the best rod for that, as long as you are not talking about sensitivity. It is not sensitive, but i dont think any rod under 200$ has sensitivity that deserves to be mentioned. I don't think Daiwa Presso has any competition in 8 foot float rod, to be honest. Everything else is much heavier and stiffer. Don't know the rod you are talking about, but I am willing to bet that the Daiwa Presso will be a significant upgrade. If you can find it. I made several videos about this rod and it is out of stock pretty much everywhere, except some very small shops that dont sell online.
@@ifishcatfish Thank you for your quick and honest response. Actually, an eight foot sensitive rod is my most urgent desire. I will look for the more expensive rods for the sensitivity. Seriously, thank you for your feedback.
@@larrypatterson764 i happen to have been looking for that too, but the high end rods have a different problem - they are sensitive but very stiff in the first half. No parabolic bend like the presso. If u dont mind a little stiffer rod, you have some options from shimano on the jdm market. They will be sensitive though
I DO! But i didn't have any other reels with floating line. My other reels were on the 8 foot and 9 foot pressos, but those are too big for this lake. So I put a 1000 Legalis on my 7' presso, so I am light. This braid is very old, i haven't bought any in years. And let me tell you - casting braid in the wind is not fun.
@@ifishcatfish I have 3 of them (they are super expensive) but they are the only light game rods that I feel stiff and super fast, even with a very thin top diameter. The feeling is amazing because their stiffness is similar to thick heavy rods. They come back to position super fast, they don´t wiggle almost anything, and they are suuuuper powerful. They have a new line out now, Salty sensation superior, and it´s even more expensive hahaha
Hey i_fish I know that your experience with rod quality and materials that make it nice and I was wondering if you could check out the Fishing Planet Nammu Spinning Rod.
Bad time for dead microphone, sorry about that. U can see the mic in my bag. Its a brand new mic also. Kind of losing my trust early

@@ifishcatfish Winds of 11 mph in Seneca, IL. for the weekend. Damn wind won't quit.
i can take 11mph, if its really 11. But on lasalle u never know what u gona get
Great fish! The fight reminds me of when I snagged a carp on an ultralight haha
Thats what i thought i had :)
For some the only lure they use is a trout magnet. Nice fish!

Nice channel cat on the presso rod.
So much fun on the ultra light.
Thank mr Henry
Looks like a relaxing place for an evening fish. Good job on land the kitty 😺on that ultralight 👍
appreciate it!
Great video, I really enjoyed it !
Hope you’re doing well... stay slaying!
this video is from last night's fishing! Got tired of tackle videos and went behind the house for some dinks.. : )
What pound mono were you using?
The leader was 4 lb which... is more than enough for any fish in this pond.

i_fish the pediatrician is telling those fish to say AHH. Btw were you using braid for your float setup? I thought you hate braid?

What´s the name of the first rod? Have you tried the Evergreen Salty sensation rods?
Eradicator. I have review on my channel. I haven't tried Evergreen rods yet

why? Are you the owner? If so, I would like one for a test.. : )
never mind, the power is too heavy for me. I dont fish for bass or anything of similar size
