Hope the rig worked out for you. Sorry I never responded to your comment. It got flagged for approval and I didn’t catch it until now. Gonna have to fine tune the channel’s comment settings.

I haven’t fished That lake since last year. I’ll have to pop over there soon. My wife works in the hospital across the road. How were you fishing them. Did you have both lures under your bobber at the same time and retrieving slowly?

Yes I had both under a bobber about 3-4 feet and bring it in slow. The wake from the aerators pushed the rig back to me and all I did was reel a crank or two to keep slack out of the line.
I also took my boys there over the weekend using mice tails on a dropshot rig. The trout couldn’t get enough of them.

Are the trout active during the summer? Just moved to STL and hoping to catch some new species.

Not in the St. Louis area. The state will begin stocking them in various lakes in the area starting in November through January. There are streams about an hour or two west of St. Louis that have stocked and wild trout all year. mdc.mo.gov/fishing/species/trout/trout-areas

Hello sir, I am a beginner. Can I ask you a question? Can you tell me how to choose the right jighead weight?

It depends on a few things: the size of your rod, reel, and line, what species you’re fishing for, and what bait or lure you’re using. In this video, I’m using a 1/64oz jig head, which is really light. I use an ultralight rod with 2lb test line. I really like this setup when fishing for trout and bluegill. 1/32oz jigs works as well if you don’t have 1/64.
If I’m crappie fishing, I’ll stick with the ultralight usually. A light to medium light spinning rod with 4-6lb test works great for crappie too. My crappie baits, whether live or artificial, are a bit bigger, and I’ll use 1/16-1/8oz with various soft plastic lures and live worms or minnows (live bait I’ll fish under a bobber).
If I’m bass fishing, the crappie setup I just described will work well especially when fishing with minnows. While bass will absolutely eat smaller jigs, typically bigger jigs catch bigger bass. Jig heads 1/8-1/4oz with slightly larger soft plastic lures will work. Medium light to medium power spinning rod is best for that. After reaching 1/4oz, I start looking at actual bass jigs with the skirts on them. They’re great. They’ll range from 3/8-1oz, and I like using them on medium to medium heavy baitcasters with 8-12lb test line. However, if you don’t have a baitcaster, spinning rods will do just fine.
Long explanation, but I hope it helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. I may have to make a video about this. It’s a great question new angler might be wondering. Thanks!

@@ShowMetheHawgs Hello sir, thank you for your answer. It would be great if there is a video about choosing jighead weight. Sir, I am a beginner, can I ask another question? After casting the rod to catch bass from the shore, in which layer of the water should I move the jighead? What should I do to find the fish? Can you give me a few tips please?

The best places to find bass have some sort of structure like fallen trees, grass, lily pads, rocks, piers, docks, spillways, and anything that can provide cover for prey fish like bluegill and minnows. When using a bass jig, the idea is to present something that resembles something that will be an easy meal like a worm, crawdad, or wounded fish. Especially with bass jigs I like slowly bouncing it off the bottom as I’m reeling it in. Also, with bass jigs, I really like using them for the weedless guard. It will help you work the jig through cover so it doesn’t get snagged. Also, I almost always put a soft plastic lure like a curly tail or paddle tail lure on bass jigs. It gives the jig a lot more action bass are attracted to.

Here’s a short video of a bass I caught using a bass jig with a paddle tail trailer. Looking though my videos I realized I don’t have a long video about bass jigs and their trailers. Another video I’ll have to make. ua-cam.com/users/shortswNLmSePLw0Q?si=_exbD33VlOF0Ej6-
