A tip that might be interesting for you to know, Chris, is that we, up here in the arctic north, learn to vent out the heat from the car, once you are almost home.
Hot air can hold lots of humidity, which will condense once it cools off, where cold air can contain almost no humidity at all.
So, when you are driving home, for example, when you are 30-60 seconds from home, you can open your windows a little, and turn off the heater in the car. Next morning, very little, if any, fog on the windows.

*(now you know why "high quality" precision optics are coated with Fluoride)* How does a cloud form? Dust attracts water (surface tension). Fluoride *_seals_* the pores of the glass, and makes it slippery- so dust can't be attracted or embedded into the surface. A high SPF suntan lotion or a "chapstick" type protector will also work. A high quality clay bar, followed by a silicone wax works awesome for glass _inside and out_ too!

    • @boosted2.4_sky

If Fluoride is the key..why didn't the Scope mouthwash work at all? 😕

+HUBBABUBBA DOOPYDOOP Thanks for the info. So you think Fluoride is why it works and filling the pores is how it works? I thought it might have been making the surface hydrophobic. Hmmmmm....

Craig Cundiff The *Listerene* mouthwash Chris used also contains _ethanol_ which just negates any other ingredients.
The Fluoride used in mouth care products is designed to transform into Fluorine _gas_ which bleaches out stains (Sodium Fluoride Ion) The Hexafluoride solid used for optics is slightly different.

Chris, great videos. I've seen several and I appreciate all the effort.I'd like to add a little bit here though:* A decrease in temperature actually increases Relative Humidity. The best way to clean your windshield is to turn on the AC if you have it, but increase the temperature the temperature. That way you are using both the drying effect of the AC as well as the drop in RH due to the temperature difference across the heater core. This will also help by keeping water from condensing outside on the windshield caused by using cold air from the AC.

Something that works for me better than the defrost option in the AC, is to turn AC on, and maybe turning on the heat so it won't get too cold inside. It sort of removes the moisture, and does it faster than the standard defroster. Specially when your AC system lets you redirect the AC to any of the vents.

Windex works great too! It’s best on the outside if you saturate the window but you can spray it on and wipe it off too. The ammonia is the key ingredient to keep fog away. Though it’s a temporary fix it works great on humid nights in the south so you don’t have to turn the defrost on in the summertime.

Thanks for taking the time in making this video. One other point regarding the use of Rain-X. Some might think they can use it on their googles or glasses. The problem is this could pose an issue. Its obvious that Rain-X has chemicals in their product, which could result in a reaction to one's eyes. Personally, I would not want to put something that has chemicals too close to my eyes, even if you think you have wiped the balk of the product off your eye-ware. Sweat might release and/or reactivate some of these chemical thus posing a possible reaction. One should always use caution when using anything that could come in contact with your eyes. Remember… toothpaste was created for brushing your teeth.

I have the Rainx Anti Fog and I must say it didnt work well for me when I used it on my windshield. It actually kept a light film on my windshield that made it harder to see through combined with the fog. I am going to attempt using some shaving cream or the toothpaste... Thanks for the tips !!

Might be 6 years too late but-
Try cleaning your window with a mild degreaser, a good window cleaner and 3 good quality micro fiber towels
      1 towel for degreaser
1 for window cleaner and the last one is for buffing of residue
If you do this right you may not even need Rainx

I would love to see this same kind of side by side test for rain on the outside of the windshield with rain-x vs. the car wax you used in your super clean windshield video

thanks Chriss, i really appreciate your work for i live in a town where no such thing as anti fog is available, your videos are great and practical, and i suggest that you use more common tools and products for your next videos cause where i live i dont get much choices for any thing , thanks for the great gift, for knowledge is the best gift to give away :)

Hey @ChrisFix - your videos are great man, thanks for making them. How long do these last before you have to re-apply them?Between this video and your other one on anti-fogging which product is overall the best? Rain-X, shaving cream, toothpaste? Does the Rain-X last longer?

    • @chrisfix

I used those little bead packets you get in shoe boxes and different products one time. Worked great. I lined them up on my dashboard and they absorbed the moisture and kept my windows from fogging up. But of course they got annoying after a while, so I ended up removing them.

Hi there bud, heard one Brazilian guy testing out a mixture of fabric softener + wooder as a defogger. I even tested out and it worked for short period of time. If there's a final video, can you add it up for the test?

Use the little silica gel packer out of beef jerky. They are meant to absorb moisture and work well. 2 for the windshield and back window. 1 for each side window. It helps to put them in the inner window seal. Works fine if you have tint as well. Hope you'd make a video on it. Hope it works

it depends on what TP or SC you are using, and what kind of towel, and who makes the towel, and what time of day it is, and if you are in a good mood or bad, and what your astrological sign is. but these are just a few of the things that could affect your actual results.
