Top Engine Mount Replacement - Saturn S Series

- I replaced the top engine mount on my 2000 Saturn SL2. In recent years I have watched countless "how to" videos on UA-cam and learned a lot about many different things, so now I am attempting to get in the game and give back. Hopefully, this video will show some clear shots and instruction which will help some Saturn owners fix a common problem for only a few bucks. I purchased the new mount on Amazon for under $20 (Westar EM2827). Those who purchased it rated it very high.

Excellent tip on resetting the dog bone! I changed my mount and did not do the bone. It still vibrated; will revisit my work.
Update: I loosened the dog bones after installing the mount and that fixed it. Super smooth now.
I just changed that mount on my wife's 1996 SC2. Brought it to THREE mechanics for their opinion! One said "wheel bearing". One said "exhaust flange blown out". Last one said "transmission input shaft nut" was loose! I changed the mount in 6 minutes, 47 seconds after the jack was in place! 100% FIXED!!! No vibration! No noise inside the car from the panels and dash rattling! Idles smoother! Shifts smoother! You can get the mount on EBAY for under $20 (PART NUMBER "EM2827" (Note: The two other "dog-bone" mounts are part number "EM2825" on EBAY under $15) I would suggest doing this mount first, as it is the easiest and the more common on that fails!
6 minutes....did you take a break in between? lol .
Man you just gave me the confidence to do this by myself today😂
Helpful video. You might want to move that ground wire back to the motor side of the mount though....
Yeah, I was like, I can't believe he forgot that...lol But he actually moved it to the frame mount so a ground is a ground I suppose.
first thing i thought when he was putting the nuts back on the motor side lmao XD
This was definitely appreciated, I know what I'm going to do this weekend. I have a 1998 Saturn sl2 but the engine is the same as mine 16 valve DOHC great engine, you have over 200,000 miles on yours and still alive. Mine is running at 170,000. You helping me solve my annoying vibration problem.
Thanks man. This video helped me crank it out in 20 minutes. My commuter car lives on!

Question: 1) What are the dimensions of the wooden block and type of wood?
Very useful, family just gave me an 01' sc2 same one needs replaced too. My stepfather replace whole rear end, put in new transmission, rack pinion power steering pump alternator starter belts new battery he put n about $6,000 into it and sold it to me for $700 as work car.
I have a question one of my motor mount stud is missing one of the First two you removed.
I bought a motor mount bolt kit from Autozone for $4 bucks it was only one 14mm stud with washer two bolts.
Is this the correct one to replace my missing one, I would to install it thru the wheel wheel or is the mounting stud welded to the frame?
Good job.
helped me out 100% thanks !
good vid, air tools would be nice and fast
hello is there anyway you can put the link of where you got the mount
Make sure to put the ground strap back on the engine, also, not sure what this guy is talking about "resetting the dogbone mount".
cool dude
Torque specs anyone? I assume there would be 3 different numbers (including the dog bone down below). Mine is a '98 manual SW2 with DOHC.
52 ft lbs :)
So rattling noises when car is idling, can be a motor mount? A guy said my motor mount is rubbing?.. Please help!
I have a 98 Saturn SL2 with 160,000 original miles..
Thank you for sharing.

2.2 liter. I have a broken motor mount bracket. I called several dealers. They do not make that part anymore..the part number for that part 1s 9127295.any suggestions would be very helpful.
Try finding after market. May find from China seller. Found a VW part that way. None existed in USA!
