  • / 101.skin For in depth snippets on #skincare & skin care procedures. IG is a great tool for educating. I upload 2-3 snippets daily.
Microdermabrasion is one of the most commonly practiced cosmetic procedures. What can YOU do that can replicate this procedure at home, during lockdown? This #covidskincare hack is long overdue.
    What is microdermabrasion?
Old technique to remove skin cells on the upper layer of skin. This can improve dull skin, pigmentation, blackheads, congested skin, milia & possibly improve the visual appearance of acne scars. Microdermabrasion does not actually improve scars themselves, just the appearance of skin scars by improving transmission of light.
    What conditions can it treat?
Milia. Tiny white or skin colored bumps around the eyes. The use of microdermabrasion & retinol or retinoids can treat AND prevent milia. Temporary improvement of #melasma, #dullskin & fine wrinkles can be seen with #microdermabrasion
    How long do results last?
About 2-3 weeks at max. After that your skin builds up dead skin cells.
    Who should be careful?
Microdermabrasion should be cautioned in patients who have rosacea, sensitive skin, uncontrolled cystic acne or dermatitis.
What skin care is mentioned in this video?
    Differin or Adapelene
    The Ordinary #glycolicacid
    The Inkey List #AHAs & #BHAs
Drunk Elephant makes a super powerful exfoliating acid - Baby Sakura
Retinoid Peels or Retinoic Acid are compounded
What can you use instead of microdermabrasion?
Chemical exfoliants include AHAs - BHAs with retinol or a retinoid can be just as good as microdermabrasion. You can combine physical exfoliation with say a Clarisonic ,add AHAs + retinol as tolerated. The key is to BALANCE aggression, application and topical use with no irritation. Titrate.
