Thanks for this info...I have oily skin and one advantage of this is oily skin people tends to get less lines as in wrinkles as they get older which I definitely totally agreed with ...I can see it in my mom who is 76 years old and she has less wrinkles than the usual woman who has dry skin...
Thanks for the great video. One thing I'd like to say is that a lot of people go out of their ways to make their skin really matte while some people who have dry skin slash on glowy makeup and lots of high lighters (especially now that glowy skin is coming into trend). I have oily/combo skin but it's manageable. I'd like to say, aim for a healthy and balanced skin instead of aiming for the extreme. What if you're a little bit shinier? Embrace your skin and genetics. Don't hate it
Don’t drink caffeine or limit it to very little. Makes skin produce more oil. Also avoid fatty, oily, sugary foods to only occasionally. Basically eat clean and drink water. Then follow the doctor’s tips which are spot on.

I just saw one of your videos for the first time yesterday. I have learned so many things in 12 hours than I have done all my life!! Thank you so much for your tips and information. Plus, you are cute!! Win win :)
I feel insecure to all of my colleague they all have perfect white skin, clear skin, no oily face. I have dark skin, a very oily face. Please pray for me to have a self confidence. I feel out of place when i'm with them.
I had oily slightly acne prone skin into my twenties. It wasn’t until I stopped putting all this product on my face that I stopped breaking out. I stopped wearing foundation/concealer. I stopped with all the acne face washes and creams. All I’ve been using for the last 8 years is baking soda to wash my face in the shower which I don’t do everyday single day or just a wet wash cloth to wipe my face well. And for lotion I use 98% Aloe
my skin care routine for oily acne prone face: **see a dermatologist if one is available to you, this is just what my dermatologist recommended to me + my own additions after research (Dr. Dray’s UA-cam videos)** Morning: - cetaphil gentle skin cleanser - cerave am moisturizer with spf - neutrogena hydroboost non perfumed on face and body, if this is in your price range - lotion (Shea butter & coconut oil mixture diy or cerave daily moisturizer for normal to dry skin on neck, chest, hands, legs, etc.) - use Vaseline for lips & dry spots Night: - coconut oil and water w reusable cotton rounds to remove heavy makeup - cetaphil gentle skin cleanser - try vitamin C & E oil to under eyes and on sunspots/wrinkles, also try rose hip & jojoba oil - use jade roller and guasha to massage oils into skin and promote blood flow and anti aging - equate beauty ceramide moisturizing facial lotion - castor oil lashes and hairline every 2-3 days - lotion & lip balm (same as morning) *use Jergen’s moisturizer morning and night on face and body for slight tan, if preferred * - drink enough water!!!! (At least half your body weight in ounces) - birth control pill/patch (drastically changed my skin, if this is something you believe in/have access to) - a balanced diet that emphasizes on consuming less dairy and sugary products - exfoliate lips 1-2 times a week with coconut oil & sugar if needed - lip mask when needed (honey & coconut oil) - silk pillowcase to avoid wrinkles and hair loss - cerave facial sunscreen spf 50 (can use regular high strength sunscreen, not recommended for sensitive skin, healthier for skin to use face specific sunscreen) - aloe vera (sunburns, mask if need extra moisture) - other masks seem unnecessary to me, but research what works for you - toner is also unnecessary to me but research what works for you - start using retinol in late 20s, talk to dermatologist if possible/research - biotin supplement daily to improve brows/hair/nails growth - shave upper lip/chin with razor used for legs/armpits or use face razor for all over face for even finish to skin/get rid of slight mustache - Dr. Dray’s UA-cam videos helped me research helpful products/routines from a certified dermatologist

I went organic. I took alcohol and silicones out etc. and my face got better. It’s actually really hard to find truly organic products as I noticed brands that claimed to organic or natural often had silicone or alcohol in them.
If you have oily acne-prone skin try this: Apply lemon juice with a cotton ball 10 mins before washing your face Hope was helpful please let me know how it goes🙂
Excellent video, and so true. As a teen, I had acne/oily skin, what solved my skin woes was using an oil moisturizer (Jojoba) and treating my skin as though it's sensitive (gentle cleansing, no harsh toners); doing those few things calmed down the oil production, my skin eventually became balanced.
@@Andre-uw1os It depends on where you live, but I think you can get Jojoba oil from any grocery or health food store. When using it as a moisturizer, apply a very thin/small amount to damp skin. A little goes a long way!
I cleanse twice a day with a Vanicream cleanser. I moisturize with neutrogena hydro boost gel. I use aczone in the mornings. I use tretinoin 0.025% every other night. My oil production is the same. I hydrate, and eat as healthy as possible. Genetically I am asian, and my dad did have oily skin. I use blotting paper, but I have to do it about 3 times a day. Masks may cause some issues for me, and I also work in fast food. I don't use AHA or BHA because of my tret and aczone. I was recommended to use accutane, but I'm scared of the side effects.

What do you recommend for combination oily, blemish/acne prone (jawline only), reactive/sensitive, acne scared skin? Also, can you list the product names you mention in the video, in the description box please?
Great tips! I‘ve been following most of them for a while now (after finally educating myself about proper skincare) and it really made a difference. I‘m just concerned that blotting (which I still need to do several times a day) will interfere with my sunscreen. I use tretinoin, so come summer I’ll need to be extra, extra careful about that. Tip 9 and 10 are new to me, will check those products out 👍

This is the probably the best vedio i have seen.Ican understand the research and time, deligence that must take to put together.......you hv give such a great formula and super idea to get rid of oily skin....i still have oily skin......... I wish that I could give more than a thumbs up...grt doctor....u don't know.u hv answered my untold question..... thanks for the great work.....
eeeerr.... thanks, but this is super common knowledge by ALL dermatologist, so I must admit NO research just our common medical dermatology knowledge. The videos hardest to do are the laser ones as the physics and end points need a lot of work, especially cutting edge. These videos are one take 20 min videos that all dermatologist can do. Im nothing special.... seriously. Cheers anyway, Davin Lim
Dear Dr. Davin, I love your channel, congratulations! I am doing my masters in natural cosmetics (or cosmetics free of heavy chemicals) in Freiburg - Germany and I know how expensive it is to formulate any skin care product without such chemicals. I took a look at The ordinary producs ingredients lists and they are really "clean" and straight to the point... from retinoids to moisturazers and peels.... I keep asking my self how much of that is true as they target the prices so low... I would like to hear your opinion. Best regards
Before I subscribed to your UA-cam channel the only lasers I knew about were fraxel and the lasers which can help treat stretch marks. I really wish the last one could be used on people of color. I googled it and read on it but the articles I read said it increased melatonin production in the skin. But watching your videos has been very informative! You put out good and helpful content!
I also have one tip. I too have oily and acne prone skin.. i use bioderma sebium gel moussant face wash. It's great for oily skin. You can try if you want.
I loved every minute of this video, but, please do one on dry skin also. In California I had totally normal skin I guess due to me living in the bay area in San Franciso, but here in Utah, surrounded by the desert, my skin and hair is so dry I have to use loads of conditioner in my hair and lotion, Nivea, on my body. I do remember you mentioning lotions way back. Will be moving back to California in the fall. Goodnight from Utah
loving your videos about different skin types and concerns :) I noticed you recommended the ordinary moisturiser did you have any other the ordinary products you would recommend ?
Spirlactone is blood pressure medication. That crap lowered my blood pressure and gave me headaches and no matter how much water I drank, my thirst was never quenched.
I have that cleanser! I have combination skin, but I’ve just started a rosehip combo oil on my face. I was so shocked when I woke up and my face wasn’t an oil slick! Was previously using Clinique dramatically different moisturising gel.
Who else watch videos about "whats the best treatment for acne" and gets more frustrated because you dont have money to buy those products that was recommended so you ended up buying cheaper products tho you know it's not gonna work for you?
At 65, I am super duper extremely whoppingly unbelievably oily but don’t break out (thank goodness). I recently began using salicylic acid treatments in the T-zone and it really has decreased the oil production.
Hi Dr Lim! Love the video. I used to have very oily/sensitive skin as a youngster, not many breakouts though (mainly hormonal) and far and few between now. But as I age I feel my skin is changing. In the summer if I am in a hot humid place it can get a bit oily but really just a bit and as I live in the UK now my skin is more and more dehydrated. Any chance that you can do a more focused video about that please? ☺️☺️☺️
I use a lightly moisturizing toner from Paula’s Choice. It contains no alcohol or astringent. I know I probably “don’t need it”, but it’s refreshing, especially in the summer... and it adds a light layer of moisturize before any other products. Regarding moisturizer... I really like Cerave PM. I actually use it for daytime, as well... underneath my physical sunscreen product. (Zinc or Titanium Dioxides can be too drying, on their own and I find many moisturizing physical sunscreens too greasy.) The moisturizing body lotion by Cerave is also a decent moisturizer, for a oily face & neck. Works great, if you’re out of the facial product or when packaging, for a holiday.
Thanks for sharing ,Tanya, I do recommend all your view points on what everyone is using, the reason is because I am trying to teach INDIVIDUAL skin care, not everyone will like my own moisturiser, hence why I hate recommending . YOuTubes have an obligation to make to our audiences, and not endorse, but suggest ' This is good for me because ....eg. in this case my skin type is slightly oily and sensitive, hence a light moisturiser '... thanks for contributing, I encourage others to do so instead of asking unrelated questions (of which I am obliged to answer). You are legend. Thanks once again.
What do you think of topical application of vitamin C? A lot of people are saying its just too unstable and are complete waste of money. Have they been clinically demonstrated to boost collagen and makes the skin more 'glowy'? if yes, how to choose good vitamin C serum?
hey doc, spironolactone does actually decrease blood estrogen/estradiol levels slightly, as it competes with hormones to bind to mineralocorticoid receptors in many tissues. it significantly decreases testosterone levels which is why it's sometimes used in hormone-mediated prostate cancers. cheers
What works for me is using rosehip oil(jojoba oil can work too) on my skin after cleansing with castille soap (with tea tree oil). Cheap and natural and without harsh chemicals. Also being vegan helps too.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR VIDEOS, VERY INFORMATIVE ON SKINCARE! QUESTION- I HAVE SEEN AND READ MIXED REVIEWS/ COMMENTS - CAN YOU USE DIFFERIN & HYDROQUINONE TOGETHER??
My whole body is naturally oily (including my face). Im really insecure about because I’ve gotten bullied for it. I’ve had acne for years and I can never get rid of it. I try doing skin care, but none of it seems to work.

Dr Davin Lim yeah ... ofcourse....keep doing doctor
Thanks for uploading this video 🙏...I have all the super oily and sensitive skin....
Regards from Indonesia
Welcome. DL
I do all of this and my skin is still oily after twenty minutes.... RIP
I feel your pain
You're great! Love the energy and the personality
Thanks .. Davin Lim instagram.com/drdavinlim/
Neutrogena felt a little drying on my skin but the cosrx good morning cleanser is perfect!
Fascinating stuff, especially the laser! Thanks! Rita
Welcome.
The soud of laser is so satisfying👌
Neutrogena oil free moisturizer with SPF 15. Its best moisturizer for oil skin
Will do in time.. Cheers, Davin Lim, Brisbane Dermatologist.
Looking forward, thanks!
Thanks .. and its people like you who support the channel who keep me going.. Thank you. Davin Lim
THANK YOU DR. YOU ARE A DELIGHT.
Will do in time Ida, nite Utah. Davin

Hi doctor davin lim nice to meet you from dubai
Hi could you please make a video on your experience on becoming a dermatologist? How did you find medical school and studying ect
Wil you do the opposite, too, Dr Lim? How to cope with dry skin? Thank you so much
In time... vvvv easy video to do... DL
Brilliant. Thanks so much - I don't suppose it'd be a revelation to you to know it's a real wide-spread skin problem as we get older.
Thanks for the video, don’t show me the oil in the bloating paper again pleeeeeraaase
loving your videos about different skin types and concerns :) I noticed you recommended the ordinary moisturiser did you have any other the ordinary products you would recommend ?
So helpful. Thank you, Dr. Lim🥰
Hola deberías tener sucursal en México. Padrisima la explicación y los aparatos increíbles. Saludos México.
Drink (water, better skin duh) every time he says 'certainly'
In time, sure.. Davin Lim
I am listening to you give advice not to eat dairy or sugar when I just finished eating a big bowl of cereal
Try some of the PaulasChoice toners - they don't contain alcohol & are amazing!
I head, thanks for your recommendations
If you are looking for cheap blotting paper, use end paper (aka rolling paper) from a beauty supply store.
Thank you Dr.! This is my favourite youtube channel!:) Very useful!
Welcome Davin Lim
Love oil blotters! Shiseido makes my favorite.
Yup.... been using them for years. Davin Lim
Awesome! Thx so much! This was very informative! 😁
What do you think of topical application of vitamin C? A lot of people are saying its just too unstable and are complete waste of money. Have they been clinically demonstrated to boost collagen and makes the skin more 'glowy'? if yes, how to choose good vitamin C serum?
Andrew H read from ncbi
I love your tips and recommendations, thank you for sharing 😍
Thanks DL
hey doc, spironolactone does actually decrease blood estrogen/estradiol levels slightly, as it competes with hormones to bind to mineralocorticoid receptors in many tissues. it significantly decreases testosterone levels which is why it's sometimes used in hormone-mediated prostate cancers. cheers
What works for me is using rosehip oil(jojoba oil can work too) on my skin after cleansing with castille soap (with tea tree oil). Cheap and natural and without harsh chemicals. Also being vegan helps too.
Cheers, thanks for your tips, Davin Lim. Brisbane. Australia.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR VIDEOS, VERY INFORMATIVE ON SKINCARE! QUESTION- I HAVE SEEN AND READ MIXED REVIEWS/ COMMENTS -

Welcome. DL
My whole body is naturally oily (including my face). Im really insecure about because I’ve gotten bullied for it. I’ve had acne for years and I can never get rid of it. I try doing skin care, but none of it seems to work.
same :/
