I waxed my face about a month ago and I’m 16, I knew I had a pimple or two on my cheeks but after waxing a bunch popped up everywhere. The lady told me it’s normal and they go down within a week and told me to put on some aloe Vera gel for the inflammation. But it didn’t go down at all, I got little marks everywhere on my face. They’re slightly bumpy in some places and they don’t hurt anymore but most of them are just acne scars. I’m trying so hard to get rid of them before school starts at the end of October.
Thank you Dr. Lim! Do you mind ranking the tyrosinase inhibitors by strength? I know HQ is the gold standard but would be nice how the others compare in regards to strength. Thanks!
Can you please talk about eczema 😭😭😭. My eczema started to grow on my feet. Whenever my dermatologist removes one, one grows again. The only solution she's been telling me is to avoid some foods.
When I got off my basic skin routine Morning: cleanse, serum, spf. Night: double cleanse, serum, leave on acne mask, night cream and tried a 10 step Korean routine. I broke out so bad for months at first I thought it must be working and I’m just purging but after a month and a half I realized my skin was not ok with my routine and I had to stop. Went back to my basic routine I only get the occasional pimple but it always ALWAYS leaves behind a brown spot.
Thank you for this! I was wondering if you could do a video on what to look for when looking for an aesthetician or dermatologist for the first time. I recently went for a consultation but I just dont know if I asked all the right questions.
Hi Dr. Lim, I’ve organized my statements of context by numbering those and my questions I have with abc order. 1. I had milia under my eyes. It was lasered off at the dermatologist’s office. So, I’ve had some experience with the way larger milia looks, though the milia was not that visible, unless the skin was pulled tight. In fact, it simply looked like I had very dark circles under my eyes. That went away after the laser surgery, as you may be able to see in my photo. a) I have small, white small bumps, that look like tiny pimples, that you can see when my skin is pulled out (stretched) on my upper lip and the section of skin below my lip, up to my mid-chin. Is this acne, or some sort of tiny milia? Most of them seem to come out when I use extraction tools, but it does take some effort. b) Does steaming your face help with acne, if the tiny white bumps are pimples? (-as long as you don’t have the steam too close to your face) 2. I’ve tried several different products to help with this tiny white pimples problem and they don’t seem to go away, and I’m getting frustrated. a) Ten years ago, I was a Special Education Resource Teacher, and I was assaulted in my classroom by a violent, low cognitive student, who had superior strength and was tall, with a large build. The student grabbed my neck from behind, and started strangulating me in a chokehold. The student then smashed my spine-a blunt-force compression injury, then threw me to the classroom floor. Needless to say, I have severe mobility restrictions and chronic pain. b) Does pain medication cause acne? I didn’t notice these tiny white pimples before the last year, or maybe two. I’ve been on chronic pain medication and other types of medication-almost all of it prescribed due to this injury-for ten years, now. 3. I have some type of dermatitis on my nose (and some on my chin) which my dermatologist prescribed Protopic for. I also use Eucerin 10% Urea cream on it, which really takes the red and terrible peeling away. I do not use this cream on my upper lip, yet the tiny, white pimples are there, too. a) As well, I noticed when I use Protopic ointment or the Eucerin cream, I will develop what looks like somewhat dark pores/minor blackheads on my nose. Are these actually blackheads or something that is present in large pores? I use CeraVe and Drunk Elephant products, with some of The Ordinary products, too (not all at once). I use Avéne acne wash and I use Avène Children’s sunscreen on my face everyday. I’ve worn sunscreen on my face since I was 32 years old. I’m 60 years old, now. Thank you very much for your great video! Pam 🇨🇦
Hi dr. Davin, I was wondering whether i could combine a La roche posay 2% salicylic acid medicated gel cleanser for morning step and using Paula’s Choice 2% BHA liquid Exfoliant for the night routine as i am trying the Paulas’ Choice for the first time. Could it be over-exfoliate my skin and btw I have a prone-combination skin and also have been suffering with hyperpigmentation over a year. Thank you and your videos have been really really helpful!
I have tried ascorbic acids, Hydroquinone with > 50 SPF sunscreen (made my PIH a lot worse) the only thing that works for me is AHA - BHA with azelaic acid. Azelaic acid I believe works very well for my skin.
I’ve used alpha arbutin before, it didn’t do anything for my skin and I used an entire bottle from the ordinary. When I looked at more reviews when I realized it wasn’t working, I noticed that many people who said it didn’t work for them had brown skin. So if you’re brown or Black I wouldn’t recommend it

Hey just jumping in to share a tip I read or saw somewhere: if you press on the area (gently!) and the redness goes away while pressed, it's PIE...if not, it's PIH. I'm dark skinned so I don't know how true it is but I just wanted to share that knowledge.
Don’t give up, find a good derm. Cod liver oil, Zinc & B5 (from Dr. Berg DC on YT) actually treated my acne better than prescribed drugs. Lytera, Cosmelan, hydroquinone (4-6%) and Vitamin C (Truth Treatments, CE Fereulic) work. Also, peels and Clear+Brilliant are effective too. Unfortunately, the best cosmetic derms are in the biggest cities DC, NY, LA, MIA...

What are your thoughts on Epiduo gel? Will this speed up my results to get rid of acne scarring. I currently have it on prescription to get rid of my acne which is has done, but I have red pigmentation now on my cheeks, Thanks
I have white spots all over my forehead. That I think is tinea versicolor it seems to emerge from my hairline and has made its way across my forehead. How do I treat this? I have ONE derm that's an hour away that will take Medicaid. Been going there for 6 months. When I mentioned fungal I got shot down immediately and was ignored about the spots was told I have rosacea and given topical antibiotics which only made my skin worse. My last apt a few weeks ago 6mths in I saw a different derm in the same office who said I don't have rosacea and gave me oral antibiotics for my hormonal acne that I also have. I do not want to take the minocylin for several reasons, it will make my fungal situation worse and every review I've read said it made them extremely depressed which my current face situation has done already. What can I do? I'm so frustrated. Makeup will NOT cover it. I have no life and haven't for over a year bc I'm so ashamed to be seen. Idk where to turn for an answer. Please help me 🙁

I'm having trouble choosing.between all the damn lasers. Theres seemingly hundreds! Fraxel co2 nano Erbium Pico dual repair.. list goes on. When you have acne scarring (I got mine at age 10 and suffered well into my late 20s with recurrences for the next 20 years after that) reddish skin on the face brown spots keloid prone skin small capillary bursts large pores ageing sagging skin small lines prone to bruising.... And a zero tolerance for pain, I mean I tried that dot laser pen thingy? And after 3 dots I'd broken a nail on the wall next to the bed because I slammed my hand on it from the pain shock, the therapist was forced to do some dots on the other side to even it out but I was crying.cancelled the rest of my face needless to say. Then my eyes swelled shut by the next day. I had 2 Green peels in my 20s, that was as painful as the dot laser and it took 3 weeks of hibernation both times. I tried a lip filler once, I ripped the stress ball to shreds and cried in the chair. Why does no one give you full blown anesthesia or tons of lidocaine injections, just that stupid numbing cream that does nothing. Anyone who says some discomfort or sun burning heat or elastic band sensation is straight up lying their asses off. Eat 6 panadol and take an entrip or 2 temazepam and drink 4 shots of tequila. Then pray you pass out from that and not the pain. Or, maybe someone can invent a laser treatment that doesn't require death and rebirth by fire.

Thank you for this great video! Is BBL the same as IPL? Also, what do you think about Halo laser?
I waxed my face about a month ago and I’m 16, I knew I had a pimple or two on my cheeks but after waxing a bunch popped up everywhere. The lady told me it’s normal and they go down within a week and told me to put on some aloe Vera gel for the inflammation. But it didn’t go down at all, I got little marks everywhere on my face. They’re slightly bumpy in some places and they don’t hurt anymore but most of them are just acne scars. I’m trying so hard to get rid of them before school starts at the end of October.
The volume is REALLY low on your videos. Please fix that. Great topic though, thanks
Thank you😊Your skin looks smooth & vibrant, Davin! What brand of AHA/BHA do u recommend? Thank you
He mentioned Drunk Elephant, but it is expensive.
millerglvr What does his clinic sell? Thought a dermatologist clinic would sell one
Thank you Dr. Lim! Do you mind ranking the tyrosinase inhibitors by strength? I know HQ is the gold standard but would be nice how the others compare in regards to strength. Thanks!
Wow such thorough and helpful info! Thank you Dr. Lim!
Can you please talk about eczema 😭😭😭. My eczema started to grow on my feet. Whenever my dermatologist removes one, one grows again. The only solution she's been telling me is to avoid some foods.
Thank you. This is a great video. It reminds me that I need to make an appointment with my dermatologist.
Please make a video on serums for morning and night use. ❤❤
I would also moisturise, moisturising is essential to a skincare routine
Thank you for this! I was wondering if you could do a video on what to look for when looking for an aesthetician or dermatologist for the first time. I recently went for a consultation but I just dont know if I asked all the right questions.

Hi Dr. Lim,
I’ve organized my statements of context by numbering those and my questions I have with abc order.
(-as long as you don’t have the steam too close to your face)

Never heard of kojic acid..will look this up 👍🏻
I have tried ascorbic acids, Hydroquinone with > 50 SPF sunscreen (made my PIH a lot worse) the only thing that works for me is AHA - BHA with azelaic acid. Azelaic acid I believe works very well for my skin.
So micro needling can’t help with older acne scars that are deeper ?
Azelaic acid, of course.
raw African black soap and ambi face cream is all you need. You're welcome🤗
@@bullyinq4001 absolutely, why not?
I appreciate your videos so much! You are so intelligent and honest!
Thank you
Dr Davin Lim what are your thoughts on using Alpha Arbutin 2% for treating Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation? Has anyone had results with this?
I’ve used alpha arbutin before, it didn’t do anything for my skin and I used an entire bottle from the ordinary. When I looked at more reviews when I realized it wasn’t working, I noticed that many people who said it didn’t work for them had brown skin. So if you’re brown or Black I wouldn’t recommend it
Hi Dr. Davin. I have dark acne scars but never flattens. It has been in my face for 2 months now. what is the best remedy to this. This dark marks still has lump in it but it has already dried. I dont know what is it.
Hi ! Do you think I should use azelaic acid or vitamin C for PIE in the morning ?I use tretinoin 0.025 with niacinamide at night. I’m really pale and I have a lot of red marks on the face. Thank you 😊
thats my exact regiment too just got skinceuticals vitamin c hopefully this helps with tret and niancinamide. I dont like azealic acid though
A wealth of information! Thank you!
What do you recommend for Folliculitis? I have that on my back and let’s say during the years it’s caused this peg and scarring, I was told laser hair removal which I’m in the process of but that doesn’t remove old scarring and dark marks, do you recommend the micro needling for the dark marks?
We need a Video 'bout PIE 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Hi would you say that the old Lightsheer Duet which was FDA approved in 2006 is just as good as the Lightsheer Desire which was FDA approved in 2017? Or would you say that the Desire is much better than the Duet? Please reply thank you!
I swear I have been trying to treat mine for the last 2 years and it is not bugging.
next video how to treat hypertrophic and keloid scar?
What is your opinion on the DERMAFLASH derma planing device? A certified dermatologist recommended it but she was compensated for her "ad". Would love to hear your thoughts if you think it's a good device for at home use! Thank you!
Good work you doing here , keep it up
Please could you recommend a good dr/clinic in the UK for me , I’ve got bad facial skin and I’m black : acne and pigmentation
Dr. Davin, what are your thoughts about the French A313 pommade versus Retin A?
Hi dr , do you need rest breaks with arbutin products as arbutin is a derivative of hydroquinone and with hydroquinone you need rest breaks? And can you use arbutin every day indefinitely if it works for you ?
I have PIH from past 9 years with indentations which have dark PIH on them. I am dark skinned type 4 .
Dynamite Dynamite how well does arbutin work for you?
I’m using alpha arbutin from the ordinary I’ve been using for a month and they seem to be fading a little and I’ve been wearing sunscreen
Haley Davidson do you plan to continue with arbutin ?
Is retinol can whiten face? Pls.more tips on how to whiten face to treat hyperpigmentation..would you advice a chemical peeling?thanks..
I don't pick my acne yet got acne scars .. i have got blemish prone skin since 13 and now I'm 27 😰 it only reduce starting 2 years ago but still yeayhhh acne is so in love with my skin 😒 what i hate is that it will always leaves scars like brown or red spot .i believe it's called hyperpigmentation . Also I don't have oily skin ,i got dry skin ,my skin is flaky even that i use mild cleanser so i believe my skin is dehydrated that's why it's acne prone even it's dry skin 😩
I've been struggling with skin problem for years that i quit everything and only use a cleanser for this time being .only cleanser .i clean my make up with makeup remover wipes and then cleanse with that same cleanser.
But I'm determined to change .I want to commit to a skincare routine once i got a job .please pray for me ,as i want to look good too especially for my wedding next year.

Please make a video on pigmentary demarcation lines. This topic is not very much discussed. Thanks
I wish you were my dermatologist.
I find THD ascorbate more effective than L-ascorbic acid and I have severe PIH dark spots. The Peter Thomas Roth Poten-C is very effective.
What u think about of THE YELLOW CREAM by Dermaceutic? Dies it help for PIE (red Mark's after acne) or only PIH?
How do you feel about Kojic Acid in soap foam? I use Kojie San on my body in the shower after cleaning with regular body was. I also use AHA body lotion some days. It seems to be working
Red marks are PIE, right? If not, hope you do a dedicated video for PIE next. Thanks for the info!
Hey just jumping in to share a tip I read or saw somewhere: if you press on the area (gently!) and the redness goes away while pressed, it's PIE...if not, it's PIH. I'm dark skinned so I don't know how true it is but I just wanted to share that knowledge.
I’m never going to be PIH free 😞
Don’t give up, find a good derm. Cod liver oil, Zinc & B5 (from Dr. Berg DC on YT) actually treated my acne better than prescribed drugs. Lytera, Cosmelan, hydroquinone (4-6%) and Vitamin C (Truth Treatments, CE Fereulic) work. Also, peels and Clear+Brilliant are effective too. Unfortunately, the best cosmetic derms are in the biggest cities DC, NY, LA, MIA...
I can’t read your full message, but thanks for the tips! I’ve been dealing with acne/scarring all my life... I honestly thought my 30’s would be the end of it all

I can help you. I had acne hyperpigmentation and dark marks for 9 years. 2 years ago a used a cream for 3weeks and since then I’m acne free and my skin is soft beautiful and glowing. Just let me know if you need me
Please turn up the volume on your mic. Even with my TV at max volume, I can’t hear you! :( Also subtitles would be nice 🥺 ❤️
How to repair the skin barrier? Sometimes we over use actives and the skin peels.

Truth Treatments, Skin Medica TNS ceremide cream, Osmosis products (Brianna Stanko on YT)
La roche posay cicaplast baume or gel is very helpful for this in my experience.
Actually swimming at the beach at night with no clothes on helps.
Thank you Dr. Lim for uploading another very informative video. I wish there were more😊
Hey Davin, What do you recommend for PIH on back and trunk? I'm using Stieva-a 0.05 on my face with great success but need help for the rest of my Type 3 SEA skin. Hi from Perth.
When advising ascorbic acid and niacinamide, and specific vitamin B’s, so you recommend oral supplementation or topical application?
He’s talking about topical
What are your thoughts on Epiduo gel? Will this speed up my results to get rid of acne scarring. I currently have it on prescription to get rid of my acne which is has done, but I have red pigmentation now on my cheeks, Thanks
Hey Davin. Really want to know your thoughts on the O Cosmedics brand. Most of the skin therapists here in Australia use that brand
Please share about how to treat PIE, thank you
Always a great content Doc. Hello from Ph 🇵🇭
Please help me 🙁
Do topical retinol creams, vitamin C serums, and vitamin E lotions also help with eye health?
🌴🌺Thank you! All of your information was great! What do you think about the use of glycolic on skin of color? As a professional I have found other acids that work stay away from it. I go with Mandelic, Lactic and Salicylic. 🙏❤️
What about KTP laser for PIE red marks? I am scheduled for KTP laser for red marks from previous acne and I have caucasian skin. Please help, there is hardly any research out there about the KTP laser! Is KTP laser affective for post inflammatory erythema?
Sir any advice about wich size dermaroler i should try for sculp dermsroling??? To help about hairloos? Is it safe 1m or 0,5? There is still hair on sculp. Thank you for helping us...!
Hi...I have a important question ... Can you please answer me is really important.... can I use lidocaine with epinephrine 2% injectable solution in superficial wounds? using cotton and applying it to any wound? thanks ..
I place my 1st order of the ordinary HA, niacinamide, ascorbic acid8%with arbutin and the AHA toner. I wanted you suggestion on which facial wash I can use before apply these products. I have 8% benzoyl peroxide and Cerave normal to oily cleanser. Also can I use a cerave BHA cleanser or the La roche posay BHa cleanser with any of these products? I read that sometime benzoyl peroxide facial wash cannot be use with retinol or glycolic acid toner, HA or any product that I mention IS THIS TRUE?
Tranexamic acid deserves mentioning too
You’re the best doc!!
Do acids work against red PIH? Or only against brown ones?
Hey Dr., isn't Hydroquinone carcinogenic?
Hi Dr Davin, I’ve been watching Dr Vanita Rattan and she says no to glycolic acid or hydroquinone for skin of colour?
Beauty Itch yeah decently I’m watching her videos too for Color of skin..she saying no to glycolic acid..and vit a go for retinaldehyde
Yes exactly also for hydroquinone. It's confusing..
I don’t think her advice is great. I use nip and fab glycolic avid scrub and toner and I haven’t had any issues with it.
Dr V knows her stuff as specialises on skin of colour. Dr Davin is great but doesn’t have her knowledge about skin of colour. He should watch her channel.
