    TLDR;
    Prevention:
    1- Sun protection.
    2- Don't pick.
3- Good, non-irritating treatments. Don't layer too much. Gentle cleanser.
    Treatment:
    1- Retinol.
    2- Ascorbic acid.
    3- Niacinamide.
    4- Gentle exfoliants and antioxidants.
    5- Kojic acid, hydroquinone.

Great video as always. I ended up trying most of the OTC products you mentioned for hyperpigmentation, not necessarily acne scars, all within a two month period and am now still trying to get my skin to recover, lol. I think it was the 23% Vit C that threw it in a tailspin. Now over a month later, even though I stopped all actives, everything still irritates my skin. Lesson learned, i think we tend to be too impatient wanting to see results with actives!!

You can rub or leave aloe vera directly to your face 30 min to 1 hour in the morning, evening and night time. Total 2-3 hours per day.

    Hi Dr. Lim,
I’ve organized my statements of context by numbering those and my questions I have with abc order.
    1. I had milia under my eyes. It was lasered off at the dermatologist’s office. So, I’ve had some experience with the way larger milia looks, though the milia was not that visible, unless the skin was pulled tight. In fact, it simply looked like I had very dark circles under my eyes. That went away after the laser surgery, as you may be able to see in my photo.
    a) I have small, white small bumps, that look like tiny pimples, that you can see when my skin is pulled out (stretched) on my upper lip and the section of skin below my lip, up to my mid-chin. Is this acne, or some sort of tiny milia? Most of them seem to come out when I use extraction tools, but it does take some effort.
    b) Does steaming your face help with acne, if the tiny white bumps are pimples? (-as long as you don’t have the steam too close to your face)
    2. I’ve tried several different products to help with this tiny white pimples problem and they don’t seem to go away, and I’m getting frustrated.
    a) Ten years ago, I was a Special Education Resource Teacher, and I was assaulted in my classroom by a violent, low cognitive student, who had superior strength and was tall, with a large build. The student grabbed my neck from behind, and started strangulating me in a chokehold. The student then smashed my spine-a blunt-force compression injury, then threw me to the classroom floor. Needless to say, I have severe mobility restrictions and chronic pain.
    b) Does pain medication cause acne? I didn’t notice these tiny white pimples before the last year, or maybe two. I’ve been on chronic pain medication and other types of medication-almost all of it prescribed due to this injury-for ten years, now.
    3. I have some type of dermatitis on my nose (and some on my chin) which my dermatologist prescribed Protopic for. I also use Eucerin 10% Urea cream on it, which really takes the red and terrible peeling away. I do not use this cream on my upper lip, yet the tiny, white pimples are there, too.
    a) As well, I noticed when I use Protopic ointment or the Eucerin cream, I will develop what looks like somewhat dark pores/minor blackheads on my nose. Are these actually blackheads or something that is present in large pores?
I use CeraVe and Drunk Elephant products, with some of The Ordinary products, too (not all at once). I use Avéne acne wash and I use Avène Children’s sunscreen on my face everyday. I’ve worn sunscreen on my face since I was 32 years old. I’m 60 years old, now.
Thank you very much for your great video!

I have tried ascorbic acids, Hydroquinone with > 50 SPF sunscreen (made my PIH a lot worse) the only thing that works for me is AHA - BHA with azelaic acid. Azelaic acid I believe works very well for my skin.

I’ve used alpha arbutin before, it didn’t do anything for my skin and I used an entire bottle from the ordinary. When I looked at more reviews when I realized it wasn’t working, I noticed that many people who said it didn’t work for them had brown skin. So if you’re brown or Black I wouldn’t recommend it

I have that on my back and let’s say during the years it’s caused this peg and scarring, I was told laser hair removal which I’m in the process of but that doesn’t remove old scarring and dark marks, do you recommend the micro needling for the dark marks?

I don't pick my acne yet got acne scars .. i have got blemish prone skin since 13 and now I'm 27 😰 it only reduce starting 2 years ago but still yeayhhh acne is so in love with my skin 😒 what i hate is that it will always leaves scars like brown or red spot .i believe it's called hyperpigmentation . Also I don't have oily skin ,i got dry skin ,my skin is flaky even that i use mild cleanser so i believe my skin is dehydrated that's why it's acne prone even it's dry skin 😩
I've been struggling with skin problem for years that i quit everything and only use a cleanser for this time being .only cleanser .i clean my make up with makeup remover wipes and then cleanse with that same cleanser.
But I'm determined to change .I want to commit to a skincare routine once i got a job .please pray for me ,as i want to look good too especially for my wedding next year.

Don’t give up, find a good derm. Cod liver oil, Zinc & B5 (from Dr. Berg DC on YT) actually treated my acne better than prescribed drugs. Lytera, Cosmelan, hydroquinone (4-6%) and Vitamin C (Truth Treatments, CE Fereulic) work. Also, peels and Clear+Brilliant are effective too. Unfortunately, the best cosmetic derms are in the biggest cities DC, NY, LA, MIA...

I have white spots all over my forehead. That I think is tinea versicolor it seems to emerge from my hairline and has made its way across my forehead. How do I treat this? I have ONE derm that's an hour away that will take Medicaid. Been going there for 6 months. When I mentioned fungal I got shot down immediately and was ignored about the spots was told I have rosacea and given topical antibiotics which only made my skin worse. My last apt a few weeks ago 6mths in I saw a different derm in the same office who said I don't have rosacea and gave me oral antibiotics for my hormonal acne that I also have. I do not want to take the minocylin for several reasons, it will make my fungal situation worse and every review I've read said it made them extremely depressed which my current face situation has done already. What can I do? I'm so frustrated. Makeup will NOT cover it. I have no life and haven't for over a year bc I'm so ashamed to be seen. Idk where to turn for an answer. Please help me 🙁

I'm having trouble choosing.between all the damn lasers. Theres seemingly hundreds! Fraxel co2 nano Erbium Pico dual repair.. list goes on. When you have acne scarring (I got mine at age 10 and suffered well into my late 20s with recurrences for the next 20 years after that) reddish skin on the face brown spots keloid prone skin small capillary bursts large pores ageing sagging skin small lines prone to bruising.... And a zero tolerance for pain, I mean I tried that dot laser pen thingy? And after 3 dots I'd broken a nail on the wall next to the bed because I slammed my hand on it from the pain shock, the therapist was forced to do some dots on the other side to even it out but I was crying.cancelled the rest of my face needless to say. Then my eyes swelled shut by the next day. I had 2 Green peels in my 20s, that was as painful as the dot laser and it took 3 weeks of hibernation both times. I tried a lip filler once, I ripped the stress ball to shreds and cried in the chair. Why does no one give you full blown anesthesia or tons of lidocaine injections, just that stupid numbing cream that does nothing. Anyone who says some discomfort or sun burning heat or elastic band sensation is straight up lying their asses off. Eat 6 panadol and take an entrip or 2 temazepam and drink 4 shots of tequila. Then pray you pass out from that and not the pain. Or, maybe someone can invent a laser treatment that doesn't require death and rebirth by fire.
