Little log book is a good idea, I rub some oil on the 0 ring before tightening too and while I got the rubber gloves on run my hands through the oil to check if it's clean while I'm feeling round for the drain plug I dropped 😊

In Europe they use the VW 508 00 on newer engines which is a 0W20 oil , like the EA888 Gen 3B for instance.

I change the oil on my 8V S3 when the oil has a gas smell. That's usually around 3-4k miles. 75k on the odometer and it doesn't burn any oil at all. I use the same VW oil, which is Mobil 1. They switched from Castrol Syntec not that long ago.

Damn that tightening was painful to hear. You got in dry and the books says to never get in dry 😁

Not sure if you’re still under warranty, but if you’re out of warranty, I would jump to something like a Pennzoil ultra platinum full synthetic. I’m not sure if they make it in your type of weight.

i been thinking about changing oil ever since you said that.. i like Pennzoil a lot. I'll have to buy new drain plugs and cannister o-rings separately.

@@LastHumansGarage I’ve been running it in the legacy and I’ve noticed the engine is a lot quieter and smoother. I’ve also been running it in the ISF.

i will be trying that oil for the first time. is it any good?i tried the amsoil signiture series but it cost and arm and a leg. the pennzoil ultra platinuim got good ratings.

@@hendrixandmitch I think it is I’ve been a Mobil 1 fan boy for years, however, I think the Pennzoil is a much better product and pretty close to Amsoil

Penn oil is not even in the same ballpark as Amsoil.. I been using Amsoil since 1987.. back when I could afford it.
