Hi Jon and Nath......another interesting and well produced video well done and thanks for posting. By the look of that radiator coolent its the original and has never been changed, so no preventive maintenance on vehicles in Portugal again lol...... Thats really good you guys get all your distilled water for free. The weather is very nice here in the UK at the momemt 30 degrees yesterday, we have a weather warning for the weekend though its expected to reach around 32+ degrees......lovely....... How are the legs doing now Jon and good to see you back in the videos. Enjoy the sun and i look forward to watching your next video, best regards, Stefano.
Hi Stefano - hope you and yours are all good. Nath has changed the fluids in that system every 3 months ( for best part of 2 years) - then fitted a new radiator + most of the pipes as the colour was really annoying him. That cleaner is after all of that & 4 flushes of distilled, one of fluid, then resorting to the Moly clean !! - it is a dirty old beast that L200 ! But the best and most reliable car we have - its like a wounded soldier, will not quit ! Nath is off to meet his UK pals for a couple of weeks in France, so he will be living in it for 3 weeks 🤮 and piling on some miles ! (I am a hotel man, camping is very much not my thing - in fact, any form of roughing it is not me - if its not better than my home, I will not go there 🤣 ) Update on Paddy Panda - the leaking prop seal we did and gearbox / clutch issues have been a nightmare - our issue really was center propshaft bearing has gone, so its new propshaft time :( - we fitted a new clutch (not filmed ) and the issue has turned out to be - the previous owner has super glued the reverse lift bit, in the up position, so this and the prop issues caused us to incorrectly diagnose a clutch issue. (we just assumed a 169 had no reverse lift gate) We needed a real man to pinpoint the bearing - & luckily, Nath also performed one of his best rally car gear changes and ripped the gear stick knob off - thus exposing this super glue bizarre job, odd as nothing is wrong, whoever must have just liked graunching the gear change to 5th we assume (we will film this as so weird) Hope that makes some sense? hard to explain - probably not an interesting thing to film, but so odd, we will :) The knee is much better thank you - we hit 40deg today, ventured to the "rich" side of the Algarve ( found a Scotsman roasting coffee beans in Albufeira - so a monthly trip now ) we had lunch (unusual for me, the miserable old git I am) in a credit card busting place, to watch the Bentleys / Porsche / Ferrari 's etc posing around the Golf club area - not something I could do offen, other than the cost (which is mental) - but Pete Panda (in my eyes) looked great parked next to a G wagon !!
@@DrivenMadShow Good evening Jon.....we are all good here thank you for asking, enjoying the warm weather. I have replaced the rear wheel speed / ABS sensor on our Panda which i unfortunately damaged when i changed the brake discs and pads, when i removed the lead and tested it there was an open circuit, to reset the ABS ECU and clear the fault code i had to purchase another scanner. Wow that surprises me about the coolent by the look of the colour i would have thought that it was the original fluid.....just needs regular changing and flushing now then to prevent internal engine corrosion, yes Mitsubishi are a good and reliable vehicle, so worth keeping. I hope Nath has a good time in France although it will be more expensive than Portugal. Yes im the same opinion as you if we have a Holiday it must be 5 star, it must be our age Jon lol..... Why on earth would you superglue the gear lever reverse into position.......ive never known that before? Im glad that your knee is better Jon, the coffee sounds a great find, we do miss the freshly ground Italian coffee but its Lidl coffee for us now..... I have a few planned preventative maintenance jobs lined up on our Panda, apart from the oil and all filters etc, i want to change the auxillary drive belt, front discs and pads, and the air conditioning gas. Have a great weekend Jon and i wish Nath a safe journey to France, best regards, Stefano.
The coffee is the best find I have had in Portugal Stefano 😂 we were on the Aldi special - tried Starbucks beans, but Portugal coffee business is 80% a company called Delta - it is the roasted to death coffee and having had some great stuff (through work) in the UK, I am rather spoiled ! I am sure you have told me your area, but I forget - if you are ever in the Winchester area, there is a fantastic coffee roaster there, who opens for coffee and cake on Friday / Saturday and Sunday (well thats what it was) the cakes are very good, but the coffee is spectacular ! Have a great weekend also
@@DrivenMadShow Hello, I plan to use this product soon and i was searching for videos of people using it. On my previous car, I did flush, with lemon acid and sodium bicarbonate. I first drained old coolant. Then poured destilled water with lemon acid. Drove it until warmup. Drained, flushed with clean destilled water, then refilled with sodium bicarbonate in destilled water. After a drive, I drained, and pour again clean destilled water. After another drive, i drained and poured in new coolant 50/50.
I was wondering if it might help me save a heater core change; pry not. Mine has been half-gummed for 2 years. I've been putting it off so my passenger side window stays frosty. Okay pipe vs. tube, not that anyone pry cares, but pipe is measured by I.D. tube O.D. Maybe its just a British thing like boot/trunk etc. Anyway, I'm afraid to use it on a car with 50k miles, 2 water pumps, and plastic impellers but I'd be interested to see if you have to change a pump/thermostat/etc. after a year or so.
Our JEEP was the same, heat one side, very common with Jeeps - the Jeep was sand from the casting (so we were told) - crap build quality - would not expect that from a Japanese build ? so you might have a chance - with the Jeep, we disconnected the pipes to the core and using a submersible pond pump (hose would be easier), flushed it (reverse from flow) and that did the job - as to the Mitsubishi, that flush was amazing, very surprised with the results - we have been chasing an overheating issue for ages - so I cannot state the water pump condition as we changed it twice this year (for no reason it turned out) there was no over heating, the alternator was knackered so spiked the gauge :( to high. Thermostat prior to the flush was unbelievably shitty, now we have a clean system.
Commercial Engine Degreasers are best to use in a cooler - they are specifically formulated to remove oil and grease without damaging components. Or you could try: Brake Cleaner: Effective for cleaning metal parts and evaporates quickly. Hot Water and Dish Soap: Safe and effective for removing oil without harsh chemicals. Specialized Oil Cooler Cleaners: Designed for cleaning oil coolers without causing damage. Steps for Cleaning an Oil Cooler with a Safer Alternative: Drain any residual oil from the oil cooler into a container. Apply Cleaner: Apply a commercial engine degreaser or specialized oil cooler cleaner to the oil cooler. Follow the product instructions for application and dwell time. Scrub Gently: Use a soft-bristle brush to gently scrub the oil cooler. Avoid hard-bristle brushes or abrasive tools. Rinse Thoroughly: Rinse the oil cooler with water, using a garden hose or low-pressure washer. Ensure all cleaner and debris are removed. Use Compressed Air: Blow out any remaining water and debris with compressed air. Focus on blowing air through the fins and small areas. Dry and Inspect: Allow the oil cooler to dry completely. Inspect for any remaining debris or damage.
I bought a 2004 F250 several years ago. The coolant looked like shit, so I got some Prestone system flush and ran it for a week. I then took to my mechanic and had a full flush done. He flushed it twice but it was still a little rusty. He replaced the coolant, and three years later the coolant looks like it did when he replaced it. The stuff works, but it doesn’t get rid of everything. I think if I had another flush done by my mech, it would probably be even better now.
We did not really see any improvement, but ours was years of crud ( so we changed all the pipe work, radiator, thermostat and reservoir - then many a flush later and its more or less spot on. I suspect it won't clear oil, but if only a light mess 🤣 then it stands a chance - sorry a very non-committal answer
He lived at the Mancave, just arrived and never left - got auto feeder, cat flap and left the heating on at night for him - he wandered into all the units here, so felt it best not to take him home (and we spend more time here ! than home)
@@NicolasRodriguez-iu5ii true but it is soft when compared to other products and after you clean the system with it, you wash it with destiled water and add antifreeze liquid. Only if you left the system with water or empty rust would appear again. Antifreeze has anti oxidante componentes as well as lubricant to keep water pump happy (etileno glycol if not mistaken)
