At the start of ‘nude’, the bit where your dad describes as sounding like ‘strings being pulled backwards’ is actually a reversal of Thom’s ‘oooooh’ towards the end of the song (in this video it’s 8:11). I only know this because some guy on the comment section of Nude’s music video said he was high when listening to this song and figured it out.

Yeah, there’s a bunch of places in this where I would’ve probably ruined it by telling him tons of facts like this lol. Like 15 Step being in 5/4, Ed saying his name on Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, and the syncopation on Videotape. I think it’s a good idea to just let his dad have an unfiltered, unguided first reaction, and then tell him later.

These reactions have been S tier. You guys have such a great relationship and appreciation of music that it's just eminently enjoyable to hear your discussions and watch your reactions to each song. If you are interested, Vox did a video analysing the song 'Videotape' from this album called 'The secret rhythm behind Radiohead's Videotape' that is a MUST SEE as it reveals a hidden detail about the nature of that song which completely changes it.
I look forward to your future reactions and am excited to see what other albums and, at some point, other bands you might delve into (I'm personally hoping for The Beatles but that's just me lol).

Considering dad's foot, is following the somewhat deceptive (4/4) rhythm of the piano, throughout the better first part of the video, ...to find himself (or his foot) struggling with this same pace as the drums come in, ... he should really take a look at this Vox video, or warrenmusic's original video on this subject. The piano is intentionally not on the beat :)

I envy you for being able to listen to this stuff for the first time! In addition to Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief, Gotta listen to The Bends as well. Came out like two years before OK Computer and is a lot more straightforward, but still amazing. Side note: I think there's a lot of value in listening to all of their albums from the beginning to listen to how the band evolved over time. Pablo Honey is an OK album that I wouldn't put in the same tier as everything that came after it, but it's still worth the listen.
Also, don't sleep on The King of Limbs as well as the "From the Basement" performances of In Rainbows and The King of Limbs. Watching them play some of this stuff live will blow your mind. King of Limbs didn't really grab me right away, but watching them play it live (they have two drummers on that album, the drummer from Portishead joined them full time with that album) just blew my mind and really made me appreciate it.
Another thing I thought about (can you tell I love Radiohead? lol), there's an old SNL appearance from when they put out Kid A floating around where they played Idioteque and the National Anthem, and it's incredible watching them (particularly Jonny Greenwood) make those sounds live. The dude plays a radio at one point as an instrument, it's unbelievable.

Reckoner instantly became one of my top 3 Radiohead songs the first time I heard it. I also sent it to my dad via email, knowing he wasn’t a huge fan of Yorke’s vocal style. At first he wrote back something indifferent, like “the guitar is pretty” or something. Then 5 minutes later he wrote back “I’m listening to this over and over, wow, I love this.” I think this is my favorite Radiohead album, stripping them of all sentimental value and only considering the music. Just found your vids tonight and am really enjoying them. I have loved music since I can remember. I was born in the early 50's when my parents and their friends, who gathered round our house, were in their early 20's and seriously into jazz. I remember my dad sitting me on his knee and pointing out all the separate instruments and what they were doing and how the music sounded so good because of that. Growing up through the 60's with the Beatles, Stones, Dylan, Kinks, Beach Boys etc, I knew what I was listening to and how each new genre of music was another step forward in how fantastic music progression was a never ending journey. Watching you turning your dad onto Radiohead and his reaction to them is such a mind blowing experience. I was fortunate to get into them when a friend had brought round The Bends to play me just after it had come out and it blew me away, just like every one of their albums has done ever since. I'm kind of sad about the camera shutting down during the initial reaction of reckoner. I think something you may have overlooked other than the amazing mixing, is how good the harmonizations are. Honestly, I almost cry when I hear this song.

I feel you. I was disappointed because it shut down right after the song finished and took about 15 minutes to charge, so it kinda killed the moment :/ but we’ve just bought a dummy battery for our camera which will give it continuous power, so we won’t run into that issue again!

Woke up at 3am after a night of drinkin and couldn’t fall back asleep and stumbled onto this vid. One of my favorite albums and awesome to see someone listen to it for the first time from front to back. Your pops would probably enjoy their live from the basement videos.

Storytime! One of my sleep paralysis episodes began with a audio hallucination of the intro percussion to 15-step. I woke up and thought my alarm was going off or something, but I realized I couldn't move. Then I heard something brushing my bed curtain and rapping mutedly against the carpet, rhythmic. Something was dancing at the foot of my bed, just below my line of sight. I lay there frozen for a good 10-15 minutes in thrilling terror, listening to it dance, straining to see it more clearly, picturing a blur of fleshly limbs flailing mechanically.
So that's one way to do the 15-step, I guess.
