I just finished sitting outside playing the djembe in his memory (he okayed for hours per day)…. And tried to upload the video. I instead stumbled upon your video- and am freaking out! Listening to the commentary - I was abandoned by my father at age 3- and terrible things happen to little girls left vulnerable and alone…unprotected. I lost myself in music as an escape- and reunited with my father near my birthplace 32 years later. I am a musician and teacher- I have covered many Radiohead songs on the piano. This song- your commentary and reaction! So comforting and wonderful….you’ve reminded me that I am not alone- we are only a note away from connecting to one another.❤
My dad was an audiophile that got me hooked on music. Unfortunately he was taken away tragically before this album was released. The thought of sharing this with my dad literally brought tears to my eyes!
That's hearbreaking, I'm so sorry for your great loss. So happy that you got to share this with your father, it's so special when you can connect like that and share. It's the greatest gift music can bestow on us, so thank you for sharing that very special moment with the world.
That moment when you realize you can trust this song, this song's got you, close your eyes, lean into it, it will carry you up and out and over and back again safely, and it will be a trip of feelings and imagery, but this song's got you, got something to tell you, to show you, come!
I see it as other way around, this type of emotion here is exactly the reason why people get high. It's all the same thing. Drugs are just another vehicle to get you there. Some music can get you there, meditation can take people there. 'there' is the same place.
@@tristan_840 I don't agree on the 'most of the time' part. maybe sometimes, for some types of people. But not most. I've never had any bad consequences.

This has been my number one most listened to song since discovering it in April 2020. I'm a huge Radiohead fan, but this song ... this song is for sure my favorite. 😍 The whole album is amazing.🌈
Exactly. I'm not a fan of Weird Fishes at first listening. But when you have a right moment to listen to it again, you will love it. That was exactly happened for me, and WF is one of my all time favourite RH song
Describing this sound as both submerging you underwater, while simultaneously immersing you in the clouds, and somehow also being emotionally overtaken by the wind is so on the nose. Pops gets it!
The unspoken truth here is that this father really loves his son. The glances he gives his son throughout the song, you can almost tell he's very proud and also extremely grateful for his son, and that his son is introducing him to such profound and moving music. Been listening to Weird Fishes since late 2008 when I was first introduced to Radiohead (beyond a few of the 90s hits) and it STILL gives me goosebumps.
I’m literally crying. I have listened to this song soooo many times but watching this made me connect with it in a higher level. Thank you so much for sharing, what a beautiful souls you guys are ❤️
This song brings me to a certain moment in my life, an inflection. I didn’t pay much attention to the band until 2007, but I became instantly a fan after I dig a little into their discography. One day I’m gonna grow wings…
10/10 song. Your Dad loved it, you should show him the live 'In Rainbows live from the basement' version so he can see how they done it, you should check it too if you haven't already.
By far my favorite song by Radiohead. It’s so intricate and heavy yet so light and airy. It’s like such a masterpiece it’s insane. I love that tempo from the beginning it’s the same but it seems to start slow but changes to the end…but it doesn’t. It’s magical.
I now like Nude and All I need more, which are a bit in the same vain. It's just a perfect album, the only song I just cannot connect to is House of Cards, it just does nothing for me, all the others top tier.
'Holy shit' is the best way to express his feelings. Also the silence when seeking for words. Priceless! Exactly my first reaction years ago 😂 Great to see this song gets the recognition it deserves. Of the many Radiohead songs of course...❤
The way you described the music as making you feel helpless in its presence, that’s how a lot of Radiohead’s music makes me feel! I really have to be in the mood and ready to listen to some of their albums, this one included, because it’s such an immersive and emotional experience.
I discovered this album alone in my apartment while I was coming down from an acid trip. It was on vinyl, and the sound made me feel like I was in utero or something. It was one of those experiences you could never recreate. It's nice to see other people digging into it as well.
One of my favourite songs and albums from Radiohead. I can't wait for the full album reaction, your Dad really seemed to understand the essence of Radiohead from this track more than Karma Police and I think he'll love other tracks from the album like Faust Arp, Reckoner, 15 Step and Jigsaw Falling into Place.

Weird Fishes is so artistic, it feels like being immersed in the ocean, underwater, like you’re alone but everything around contributes to create your existence, feels like pretending you want to stay at the bottom although you know you still can reach the surface if they ask. I wanna drown in this song.
This is my anthem,a song for when im depressed or misplaced,or for when im getting ready to face the day.the beat feels so gut wrenching but upbeat, like not wanting to move forward but doing it anyways, absolutely love that you could share it with your dad❤

In Rainbows is so great - would love to see the full album reaction. Reckoner is also one of the most beauiful songs out there. Also love your descriptions of the feeling this song evokes
The moment at 5:55 is beautiful - this was exactly my reaction when hearing this song for the first time. Back when In Rainbows dropped out of nowhere, I bought it and burned it to a CD-R as fast as humanly possible so I could drive around and listen. w/o social media or a leak, there was simply no way to experience the album other than in its entirety. When this song ended it was like, "Where do you even go from here?" And then the album continues to evolve and surprise you. I kept driving just to listen to the whole thing again.

As beautiful as this song and all of In Rainbows (or just Rainbows 😅) is, the most gorgeous part of this is seeing you two meet in that space of appreciation and awe. Keep connecting with your dad and people like this; you have something special here.
There's something about these 'reaction' videos isn't there. Wow. I lost my dad in 2014 and watching you two share this song together has made me literally weep at the thought that we didn't share these moments ourselves. The song of course is beautiful and maybe my favourite Radiohead track but this dimension of watching a son introduce his father to it and watching his mind get blown is a profound angle to it. There's so much love in this video.
This song was instantly catchy and hypnotic when I first heard it as a kid, but as I've grown up the way I perceive it has changed a lot, and I even react differently to it on each listen. Sometimes it's meditative, and other times it's an intense emotional ride.
You should do the live from the basement reaction, it’s free from copyright so you can show it whole and it’s quite something. They play almost the whole In Rainbows album. It will also show you HOW they make these sounds, just as you said!
Radiohead was an emotional release for me in highschool and into college, around 2000-2006ish. I always come back to them. And it’s always magically once again.
This song is my ultimate comfort song for years. It’s not even the lyrics it’s this feeling and the sound. It really makes me feel my feelings . I love it
Really enjoy the playful synergy between father and son. One knowing mischievious, putting his dad through the Event Horizon into new sonic experiences. Love how you two interact.
Personally, I think Moon Shaped Pool is as entrancing as all their other classic albums. Some deep waters there. Decks Dark is always in my head. Great song from start to finish.
I just had to hit the like button right away. Music has always been the main form of bonding between me and my dad, so to me is really beautiful to see you guys sharing these moments. I really liked the rap content but I'm grateful you guys expanded your horizon. I love how sensible the dad is, it really touches me to see him going emotional, and I love the way he share his thoughts about the music. I'd love to see you listening to (and to get to know) his favorites, I bet dad too has an amazing and sensible taste! Love from Brazil ❤
Just stumbled across this reaction and it's probably the best reaction to hearing a new song I've heard. One of my favourite Radiohead songs from one of the best albums. This dad gets it. Radiohead just communicates to me on a different level.
Phil Selway making the simple change from his hi-hat cymbal to the ride to open up the entire song and expand everything to that next level is just what Radiohead are about on this song. Everything comes from their absolute mastery of dynamics. Weird Fishes is one of the great guitar rock pieces of all time and probably still the best guitar rock piece of the 21st century.
My first watch of you guys, one of my favourite tracks of all time. That tear that you wiped away, such a real reaction to this beautiful track. How f@#$ing awesome is it to allow your kid to show you something that moves them, and to then be moved by it yourself. My kids love the music I love, and I'm starting to appreciate their musical tastes too. What a great relationship you have. Big ups to you both. 🤜🤛
Reckoner is not only my favorite song off the album, but definitely in my top 5 favorite songs of all time. You should share that one with him, and make it the “Live From The Basement” version. I first saw that video in 2007 and I’ve been hooked ever since.
Longtime Radiohead fan. What a JOY to see someone feel it for the first time- dad closing his eyes and nodding….I get to relive it through him….music is incredible
So happy you and your dad got to document this moment. It is very sweet. I’m surprised you’re introducing Radiohead to your dad who looks like he would have lived through them at their peak
What a beautiful reaction. Loved his description. I wasn’t sure what he was saying at first but I went along with it and I’m glad I did. He described it so poetically. Also, what a moving video. Thanks for sharing this moment.
A mature sound engineer, who designed my first sound system at the age of 20, told me a beautiful phrase, while after some adjustments, I was obviously moved to hear sounds that were not heard before... He heard it, but I felt it. So I felt blessed... Because of the obvious emotion you showed, I'm going to give you the same phrase "Shit, what sensitivity do you have"
One of the best albums ever made. Glad to see you guys exploring this. Brings back so many fond memories from when this album was released. Still have my in rainbows tour tshirt. Masterful album, can just hit play and before you know it you’ve looped all the way around to the le first track again
Magical reaction - helpless, existing in different elements, it's my favourite song and I'd never thought of this after listening to it for 100s of times over the years. When the background ed shouts hit you it's a whole other level again
This is the best reaction channel there is. You're both incredibly thoughtful and open to learning about each others' music and really try to understand each other. It makes me really happy and it's great content all around. Also keep the radiohead reactions coming please!
This song never fails to get me into a good mood. The part with the chimes reminds of the sound of a rainbow if a rainbow if a had a sound. The whole arrangement is hypnotic. And this interjections of bass, just a touch to keep it special, and the tone on it. And finally the relentless rhythm and uniqueness of Thom’s voice.
I enjoyed your Dad's reaction, and I agree with your joint description of this amazing song. I would add that to me it has a dreamlike quality. It's the music that plays in your head when you're lying in bed, drifting between wakefulness and sleep.
This is a great video! Its cool seeing a younger person being into Radiohead. As a middle aged dad, I always think of them as dad music. My dad, even though hes in is mid 70s, is still listening to new music and discovering new bands. I hope Im like that when I get to be his age. My 10 year old son likes some of the stuff I listen to, but I think he's still a little young to appreciate Radiohead.
The album is a masterpiece. Saw them live twice at Madison Square garden, best concert experience of my life. Seen just about every band you’d want to see even the 3 tenors at the rose bowl front row dead center and this was on another level. Please, please do the full album listen 🙏🏼 and why not Scotch Mist? Your dad might dig the bts musicianship aspect. Thanks for all the great wholesome content man do we need it given the state of things. Also, desert island disks live was kind of otherworldly. Radiohead as good as they are recorded are even better live.
Absolute anthem that song, everything about it is incredible, each piece of musicianship, the layering, the bass, the key and rhythm changes, the lyrics and vocal. As your dad says, just "lush"
It's nice to see the special relationship you have, as father and son. I can relate. Such a blessing to have one's son, and a song, cause an epiphany. "I hit the bottom and escaped".
My favourite channel on youtube right here. This song made me hear ‘rainbows’ as the album suggests. Especially the note progressions in the beginning sounds like different colours of the rainbows and then they come together to form the whole rainbow.
How am I just now seeing this page?? They are my absolute favorite and he gets its. I cried watching him and you & it was like I was listening to it for the first time❤please keep it going!!!
I so love this, watching someone's first listen to one of the truly greatest songs ever. Love you both for putting this together although I doubt you didn't realise what you were creating at the time. (weird fishes drum intro has been my phone ring tone for a few years LOL)
I saw the title of this video and immediately had to click. Weird Fishes/Arpeggi is one of my favourite Radiohead songs! I totally agree with the feeling of not necessarily being on land but somewhere else like in the water or air. The music just takes you somewhere else. Great review guys!
Why Am i crying ? I think i would like to return to the point where i discover this amazing band who changed my life forever. Your dad reaction is just perfect. Love him, love both of you.
Two amazing reactions in one vid. One is hearing it for the first time and the other is reacting to the other hearing it. 'It' being one of the greatest songs ever to grace our ears. Edit 5th May: I will come back to this reaction because it's the best on the tube. Full of elation and song immersion.
Seeing them in person is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. They put on a hauntingly amazing visual display and sound even better live. Also, EVERYONE is chill. Every single person.
Never been more proud to be a Radiohead my heart was bursting watching his reaction and most perfect description that was beautiful ..its luuush.. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💙💜
When the Hit the button and escape part starts it's hard not to get emotional, that bassline is otherworldly, and the intro too the guitar and the bass just inseparable, Jhonny and Colin Greenwood have the greatest synchronicity
I used to love trying to expose friends, family etc to music I loved. This is so beautiful that you and your Dad have these experiences and mostly that you guys are truly connecting. Just beautiful! I had that with my Dad…treasure these moments. ❤️ btw Radiohead is my favorite band.
the music took me over too when listening to it. it was very powerful of an experience after feeling helpless. cool to know others had that same type of experience.

He would probably like Thom Yorke's "Twist". I got to see my daughter do a contemporary dance piece to it. Made me cry.
You guys have such a wholesome vibe, watching you enjoy music together is soul healing
Decks Dark is another great song by them that delivers that ethereal feeling!
Totally helpless is about a perfect way to express what this song does. Really enjoyed the reaction.
I love seeing people become fans of Radiohead ❤️
except he doesn't like OK Computer. lol
Eyes closed and head bobbing is the natural state for listening to this song. Love it
Beautiful moments is very fitting. In Rainbows is a soul clenching album.
I wish I could hear this song for the first time again! I envy that feeling
More to uncover each listen ❤
This and "Let down" are wonderful, the bests
Let Down is so underrated
This song never fails to get me into a good mood. The part with the chimes reminds of the sound of a rainbow if a rainbow if a had a sound. The whole arrangement is hypnotic. And this interjections of bass, just a touch to keep it special, and the tone on it. And finally the relentless rhythm and uniqueness of Thom’s voice.
My favourite song of all time. And the way your dad described it with this floating or flying feeling is same for me. Great video.
Props on the DJ Screw All Screwed Up cover in the back. ❤❤
Man they are so gifted, it is ridiculous. They smash my ego and bring emotions to the surface.
Artist: Sigur Ros. Songs: Untitled #3, Glosoli, Saeglopur. Highly suggest those as well.
Is Scotch Mist better that Live From The Basement?
In Rainbows and King of Limbs Live From The Basement are just pure class.
This is such a beautiful video. Your dad’s reaction is profound and genuine. I loved it!
I wish I could listen to Weird fishes for the first time again, that feeling...
Def want the full album reaction!! Great video, fellas
Two amazing reactions in one vid. One is hearing it for the first time and the other is reacting to the other hearing it. 'It' being one of the greatest songs ever to grace our ears.
Edit 5th May: I will come back to this reaction because it's the best on the tube. Full of elation and song immersion.
this was so heartwarming. probably remains my fave Radiohead song
Dad's reaction just shows you should treat us to the whole album ✌🏼 Love and Peace from South Carolina
Seeing them in person is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. They put on a hauntingly amazing visual display and sound even better live. Also, EVERYONE is chill. Every single person.
Really great to see both of you enjoy this amazing song.
Never been more proud to be a Radiohead my heart was bursting watching his reaction and most perfect description that was beautiful ..its luuush.. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💙💜
Lucky to have a great relationship with your father like this man, cherish that
Wow first time I noticed the DJ Screw cover in the back. Impeccable taste 🤌
When the Hit the button and escape part starts it's hard not to get emotional, that bassline is otherworldly, and the intro too the guitar and the bass just inseparable, Jhonny and Colin Greenwood have the greatest synchronicity
So glad for him and them both. Sharing that with your Dad must be lovely. What a tune.
First song that got me into Radiohead. Been a fan for 15 years and this song still gives me chills.
It really does!
Love his reaction! This is the song that got me hooked on Radiohead back in high school. It still slaps
Very cool show man! Glad to have stumbled onto it. Seeing your dad be so moved by Weird Fishes was deeply moving.
This sounds amazing live also. Such an amazing band!
The whole album is great 👍
Love ❤️ your dad's reaction. Very heartwarming!
