I love this album. Some fun facts about it: - "Nude" was worked on for about a decade. It was first recorded during the sessions for OK Computer, and the band kept tinkering with it because they weren't satisfied. The final version was rearranged around a bassline written by Colin Greenwood, the bassist. - The intro to "Nude" is a specific stem in the outro reversed. - The cheers heard in "15 Step" are the cheers of children from the Matrix Music School & Arts Centre in Oxford. The band wanted the kids to clap along to the drums, but the unconventional 5/4 time signature was difficult for them to follow. - Videotape is the band playing a trick on you. The true downbeat is actually half a beat after the supposed downbeat. It's more noticable in the 2006 live performance of the song. - On "Reckoner", the album title is sang by the backing vocals at the runtime's golden ratio (~1.618 or 61.8%).
the videotape one is very on the fence for me, the bonnaroo 06 recording definitely has that syncopation, but they ultimately took away the idea in the recording or at least made it not matter as much by giving no rhythmic context that confirms or denies that it is there. very interesting talking point, but as for the recorded album version i would say that there's no way to confirm if it's there or not, darn it radiohead!
@@carterulery Not only does every performed version clearly indicate the true down eat, but the drum machine starts playing a hihat on the downbeat at 3:06 in the studio version.
With Radiohead it doesn’t matter if you’ve heard a song before. Years of listening can reveal new musical depths and lyrical clarity. They’ve been my favourite band for 30 years and I still hear new depths. It’s one reason why they are unparalleled - in my opinion. They never get boring, only deeper.
All I Need is one of my favorite Radiohead songs. The line "I am a moth that just wants to share your light" is so beautifully devastating. Nude is another of my favorites, as well. And Video Tape. I love all the sad songs. 😂

Omg I loved your reaction! There’s still so many albums from theirs to check out. Before OK Computer, The Bends really helped launch their career commercially after the success of Creep. It has some of their biggest hits and is 90’s in the best way! Some of my personal favorites are on that project and it is super solid. After OK Computer they delved head first into electronic music with Kid A, it’s pretty experimental and generally more ambient and meditative than OKC. It was pretty divisive at the time of release because of how much of a departure it was from their previous sounds, but is now pretty much universally praised and respected as one of their best. Finally their most previous record A Moon Shaped Pool is their most cinematic, somber, and relaxed projects. If you loved the strings on In Rainbows, this album is full of them! Johnny Greenwood, one of the guitarists of the band, has worked on film scores and is one of the strongest members of the group personally. He’s super innovative and versatile with his talent among many instruments. Sorry for the essay I just love this band hehe. Thank you for the great video and experiencing this beautiful music with us! ❤😋
45:25 - I just fully read the lyrics of "Videotape" and after years of listening to this album fully grasped the meaning of this song and its so sad but beautiful, so delicate but so heavy. My heart is breaking and swelling at the same time. ❤💔

One of the best albums by the greatest band since the Beatles. A Moonshaped Pool is a stunningly beautiful album too 👍 There's actually another bonus disc of songs to this album. Bangers and Mash & 4 Minute Warning are two I distinctly remember
I hate doing this where right after a reactor reacts to an album I immediately recommend another but I think to have a good understanding of Radiohead as a band you HAVE to listen to "Kid A" which was the album that was released right after OK computer and is a mind blowing left turn for the band and music. Its much more experimental and at times a little harder to get into at first listen but its regarded as a masterpiece right alongside In rainbows and OK computer as their 3 masterpieces. Glad you liked In Rainbows its my favorite as well!

I loved watching this. So happy to see this music transcends generations. Your reaction to Reckoner is so similar to mine and I'm a 49 year old woman. House of Cards is such a great follow on from it in that its this beautifully cheesy sexy song.
Thanks for putting this out - I had the same reaction, kind of blew my mind the quality of this album. For me "OK Computer" will always be my favorite, I think it is the band's highest achievement. BUT, "In Rainbows" is them at their very best, most luscious cohesive zone talented best. They are really neck and neck. Their 3rd 'GREAT' album, as in historical legendary greatest all time list albums, is "Kid A" - however that is their like Modern Art work masterpiece. It is a sonic experimental journey - it threw me off so much back in the day, I took time away from the band as I was expecting "OK Computer Part 2" and it is such a massive turn. Then "In Rainbows" came out a few years later and I fell back into Radiohead world, and then let "Kid A" sink in, it takes several listens for a lot of the songs to hit (but when they do they're with you for life) and to see it as this complete work of art. To hear the more Rock version of the band with a TON of great songs, "The Bends" is epic, and for the more lush violin vibe, "A Moon Shape Pool" the last most recent 9th album is great. And last but not least - to me the best moment and highest point of anything to do with Radiohead - which is saying a lot for their career - is to watch "In Rainbows: Live from the Basement." It is the stuff of legends, and a way to see the band, just the 5 guys, not only recreate the sonic landscapes live, no tricks, just insane musicianship and talent, but it sounds even better. Really connect to what the band is all about seeing that - whether as a reaction or for your own enjoyment, it's one of the best hours you can ever spend in life. Really enjoyed your reactions, keep doing it, excellent work man. Peace//
I think Give Up the Ghost and In Limbo are tracks he’d enjoy as well, it goes with the calmness he enjoys. (I know In Limbo isn’t technically calm but the instrumentation is very soothing.)
Phil said in an article recently that he thinks they're going to be getting back in the studio sometime soon. So AMSP might not be their final. Hopefully 🤞
I always love seeing someone discover Radiohead. I wish I could go back to the days where I was just like you, stunned at how mind-blowing they are. It's just another level. On your outro you really captured exactly why we all love them. It's the care and joy they have for music. See them live if you can! Just remember, after 15-20 years following the band, every song is so detailed and complex that I still discover new things and the songs don't always click immediately. After a few listens though, they just become overwhelming. Good luck in your Radiohead journey! Also, like others said, you should do videos of both From the Basement sessions. Kid A will be a big challenge. It was after OK Computer and they hated becoming a huge band because they thought they were becoming a money-making brand, and not artists. They were depressed and lost. So they abandoned the radio friendly vibes and went very experimental. At first its crazy weird but after a while you see they went to a place that no other band has ever been, it's almost like a new planet of music. To escape the money-making corporate machine, they took a huge risk and became the best band in the world.
You mention at 33:20, that your favourite part is that section in 'reckoner' when Thom Yorke sings the words 'In rainbows'... Interesting to note that if you apply the 'golden ratio'/Fibonacci sequence (which is a mathematical equation, that, once applied to art can highlight the most aesthetically beautiful section of that piece). from google: 'The golden ratio (also known as the golden section, and golden mean) is the ratio 1:0.62. Use it to divide lines and rectangles in an aesthetically pleasing way' . Well when you apply the golden section calculation to the album 'in rainbows', the exact point of the ratio is that part of the song in reckoner where the words 'in rainbows' is sang! Look it up, absolutely crazy! and apparently according to the band, completely an accident.
Loved your reactions to this album dude. “An immense amount of love” = sums up what Radiohead and Thom Yorke put into everything they do. No time spent listening to Radiohead is time wasted. One of the greatest bands of all time.
"This sounds like we're in on a quest in a cave or something". I threw a like when I heard that. Well deserved. It's my favorite album and i've heard it countless times. I've never heard someone describe it that way but it totally sounds like it.
Loved your unbridled enthusiasm for what is more of a mellow album at first listen but you clued in to the momentum that this can have once you’re locked into it! I’m late to the party but I highly suggest checking out the dissect podcast season which does like a whole college course on the album and breaks down each song lyrically, musically, and whatever other adverb you want. One of my fav albums! Glad you enjoyed it!
Sitting down and critically listening to a Radiohead album is good for anyone's brain. It makes better artists and listeners with a touch of therapy sprinkled on top.
I've heard I don't know how many thousands of songs, but the way Yorke goes from a hum back to saying 'reckoner' in the bridge is one of the cleanest and most orgasmic transitions I've ever heard. not to mention it's also one of the most impressive things I've ever heard from a singer, like how fucking hard is it to do something like that holy shit
Lets goooo!!! I literally just watched your video reacting to radiohead for the first time and came to the channel looking for more, posted 16 minutes ago 😂
I got a lot of shit to comment lmao but they put this album out in 2007 for free on the internet as a pay what you want type thing which was never done before, hella cool that the people who make the best music just do it for the people
@soloricky it's beautiful to watch you clutch your heart at the bridge of Reckoner... listen deep to the last phrases before the drums return and you'll hear the oh so subtle layered vocal: "in raaaaaaaainboooooooooows" ... makes me swoon every time
Love your reaction, genuine a.f!!! Keep it up with the Radiohead reactions. I’d recommend In Rainbows From the Basement when you have a spare moment😉 Watching them play it live in studio is something to behold.
Just found your channel and I've loved watching your Radiohead/Deftones reactions. Most of your favorite songs are mine as well, haha. Thanks for the uploads!
There is a reason why Radiohead is one of the most well reviewed albums by critics and fans lol. In Rainbows is such a succinct package and there's never a down moment! I felt you're entire reaction I was so flabbergasted after Nude then it hit me with Weird Fishes I was like SLOW DOWN aagh. If I were to suggest the next album it would either be The Bends or Kid A. There also also a bunch of other artists I'd recommend too like Bon Iver, half.alive, Black Country New Road and Quadeca!
i got a playlist that is Radiohead and its combines all the different albums and songs together with good transitions and flow that truly shows how good this band is.
Your reaction is one of the best I've ever seen to In Rainbows, great watch man! I highly recommend their latest album A Moon Shaped Pool from 2016 based on your love of strings, it's a sadder album than In Rainbows but it has a very cinematic quality to the songs.
Not sure anyone else mentioned this, but there's a Disc 2... and it has some of the best Radiohead songs ever. Last Flowers, 4 Minute Warning, and more.
You should listen to A Moon Shaped Pool sometime. Maybe not next but it is still an amazing Radiohead album. Edit: Also eventually Kid A, however I must warn you. Kid A is definitely strange to say the least. Edit 2: Also i forgot to say W vid as always

If you like "Nude" and Weird Fishes" - you'll get a similar vibe from the "Pyramid Song" and "Codex". Those 4 are some of my all time favs.
Feel like we'd be great friends. Some of the most interesting melodic tracks from Radiohead
Agreed, those 2 and Videotape bring me to tears each and every time even though I've heard them countless times.
I think Give Up the Ghost and In Limbo are tracks he’d enjoy as well, it goes with the calmness he enjoys. (I know In Limbo isn’t technically calm but the instrumentation is very soothing.)
Your description of Bodysnatchers sounding like you're driving a car and doing whatever you can to get to your destination is spot on
My favorite album by Radiohead is In Rainbows. Based off your music taste I think you would really enjoy Radiohead's final album, A Moon Shaped Pool
Phil said in an article recently that he thinks they're going to be getting back in the studio sometime soon. So AMSP might not be their final. Hopefully 🤞
@@SR91313 Idk if I'd be able to handle a new album 😭
Even if Radiohead never makes another album, please, let's never use the word final... I believe they will return!
Get the box set, you'll be on permanent repeat. Each one better than the other and demand multiple listings.
Not their final album
My favourite album by anyone, ever
Solo, there is a basement live on UA-cam for the Rainbows album. It is godly, you can see them
Perform these songs flawlessly
To escape the money-making corporate machine, they took a huge risk and became the best band in the world.
been my favorite album since i can remember. hyped i came across this to see someone enjoy it as much as i have a million times.
One of my favorite albums EVER!❤
So insanely incredible!!!
Thanks for your reaction fam💜💜💜
Look it up, absolutely crazy! and apparently according to the band, completely an accident.
even if you didn’t talk about radiohead in this comment i would still think you’re a radiohead fan
@@dugsz 😂😂
You said it. Radiohead is about the build and the evolution. And the brilliant arrangement around it.
This was so beautiful. Almost felt like listening for the first time again.
that break on Reckoner really hits sooo fucking hard
one of the few bands who's live performance trancends the already immaculate album
Great reaction man. This album is truly incredible. Fun to watch people discover it for the first time. Keep going!
Great reaction- I appreciate that you don’t focus too much on the lyrics on first listen and more so just the feeling/vibe of the song. You get “it”!
Out of all the In Rainbows reactions I've seen, yours is the best.
Yeah i love this album nice reaction bro
when you discover radiohead you discover yourself......it´s sooooo much more than music🌍
ah man i was SO excited to see your first reaction to weird fishes. damn those people telling you to listen to it before doing the entire album
Loved your reactions to this album dude. “An immense amount of love” = sums up what Radiohead and Thom Yorke put into everything they do.
No time spent listening to Radiohead is time wasted.
One of the greatest bands of all time.
There is nothing wrong with letting the emotions take you over. It is the purpose of music. And Radiohead(s) are top three at provoking
Who's the other two?
@@slatanek
In my opinion
Pink Floyd
&
Tool
Although The Moody Blues maybe be a fourth in the top three. lol
Your reaction to Faust Arp is the best! Slumping into your chair at the end. Perfectly matches the lyrics lol
Sitting down and critically listening to a Radiohead album is good for anyone's brain. It makes better artists and listeners with a touch of therapy sprinkled on top.
Welcome to the world of Radiohead! Have been living here for a couple of decades. It’s a lovely place.
Listening to all I need in public with my air pods in makes me feel mysterious asf
Great that you liked it bro! 🙏🏻❤️ You can feel the emotion seeping from every part of this album
Lets goooo!!! I literally just watched your video reacting to radiohead for the first time and came to the channel looking for more, posted 16 minutes ago 😂
I just discovered rh like a few months ago and i been straight up addicted. Idk if i can recommend to other people in good conscience anymore lol
I got a lot of shit to comment lmao but they put this album out in 2007 for free on the internet as a pay what you want type thing which was never done before, hella cool that the people who make the best music just do it for the people
I just found out about how they had it on the internet for free, I keep finding more reasons to love em!!
@soloricky it's beautiful to watch you clutch your heart at the bridge of Reckoner... listen deep to the last phrases before the drums return and you'll hear the oh so subtle layered vocal: "in raaaaaaaainboooooooooows" ... makes me swoon every time
Love this reaction. In Rainbows is the kind of album it's great the 1st listen through, then you listen again and again and shit just gets better.
Your reaction is by far the best reaction I've seen. Keep it going. I'm a massive Radiohead fan.
I'll shed a tear with you. This is a great album, they're all great! I love this album.
Love your reaction, genuine a.f!!! Keep it up with the Radiohead reactions. I’d recommend In Rainbows From the Basement when you have a spare moment😉 Watching them play it live in studio is something to behold.
Subscribed! Excellent choices. Can’t wait to watch more of your reactions. This particular album is one of the best ever made. Start to finish
Your reactions to the greatness that is In Rainbows is exactly how I felt when I heard it the first time
So great to see people listen to this for the first time, brings me back in time! thanks for sharing
Just found your channel and I've loved watching your Radiohead/Deftones reactions. Most of your favorite songs are mine as well, haha. Thanks for the uploads!
Love the reaction man, yeah this was me too on first listen omg
I would recommend their second album “The Bends,” which came before Ok Computer. Great review btw
@SoloRicky you made my day. Weird Fishes is in my top 2....#1 Let Down. Enjoyed your genuine reaction/connection to this stunning band
Reckoner gets me right in the feels
You HAVE to hear “the bends” next by Radiohead. It’s my 2nd favorite album right after in rainbows. Has a good mix of slower and faster paced songs
31:01 - bro understand and gets that feeling between beauty and pain- so similar to how I feel when I hear it.
Amazing reaction
Your reaction is one of the best I've ever seen to In Rainbows, great watch man! I highly recommend their latest album A Moon Shaped Pool from 2016 based on your love of strings, it's a sadder album than In Rainbows but it has a very cinematic quality to the songs.
This band is truly GOATED and this album is beyond tremendous 🤘🏽
Not sure anyone else mentioned this, but there's a Disc 2... and it has some of the best Radiohead songs ever. Last Flowers, 4 Minute Warning, and more.
Thank you for sharing your time with this album… I saw them on this tour and it was amazing.
that editing with the song title at the top is fire. simple but on the dark background looks super clean
You should listen to A Moon Shaped Pool sometime. Maybe not next but it is still an amazing Radiohead album.
Edit: Also eventually Kid A, however I must warn you. Kid A is definitely strange to say the least.
Edit 2: Also i forgot to say W vid as always
Such a masterpiece.
