A 50% increase in power and 30% increase in torque is excellent no matter how ''small'' the numbers alone are.

Why does it matter? Americans have such a bee on their bonnet about horsepower at the wheel. When everyone else in the world uses power at the crank

@@stumo8681 duuuuur. The problem is that the dyno measures power at the wheels and many dynos need a correction factor entered to figure out the engine power. People can and do enter silly drive train loss numbers so their engine hp appears high.
@@nathanchalecki4842 a decent dyno and operator will do a coast down transmission drag measurement rather than guessing.

I seen a few videos where OM613 was converted from common rail to mechanical inline injection pump. Would be interesting to see DPUK doing something similar lol.

I'm in the same boat as you. I have came across an om605 turbo for sale at the moment for 5k in Victoria and I'm on the border between Vic and NSW. Best part about this hidden gem is not many know about these engines so it gives me time to save. Hope you get a hold of one too.
Same here. I live in WA, reaper preformance diesel have one they a tickling. Hopefully i can get a hold of one one day to put next to the 4j.
In the same boat here. I got told recently only 20 of them made it in to Aus. Only reasonable solution I've come up with is to wait a couple more years and bring one in from the UK under the 25 year rule.
Always fancied one of these old E300td to tune up, can't find them anywhere these days!

Luke I absolutely love your videos and every day I get tempted more and more to bin off the underpowered V8 in my SL and bolt one of your motors in. But can you pretty please edit your sound levels. You're really quiet and then the adverts come in 3x the volume.

Any major drawbacks of going to a full mechanical 603 pump in the w211? Apart from check engine light? Will the auto still shift alright?
Here in the states I had to have my ecu socketed and then chipped. Went rocketchip stage 2, immo and egr delete. It made 177hp with lite smoke. Egts get high and its spool up time is really slow below 2500 rpm. Other wise I'm happy with it. Planning on larger turbo and 8mm edc pump, if I can get someone to tune it.
...but 177hp is stock!
@@GoogleAccount-tt5yx that's what it put down at the wheels. With drive train lose it should be around 210 at the flywheel
how do you keep it from over revving when you use a M Pump ?
Absolutely love this, super presentation! Can't quite make my mind up what to do with mine. Would like more power / torque at lower revs for better acceleration. 🤔🤔 (Still awaiting reply from emails ??).

DPUK. So would it be reasonable to upgrade the puffmatic to the 5HP30 ? I understand the ZF auto gearbox is softly shifting between ratios to protect it from overheating the fluid and or clutches ! V.

Thanks, I recently got myself a beautiful 1998 E300D that had a turbo fault readout...turned out to be the Turbocharger Pressure Converter that I replaced for $20.00 on Ebay...friggin runs great now ! I originally bought the car as a donor to swap the engine into my 1982 Chevy Cube van that I made into an RV. But everything in the car works as it should and it's a Beauty and is way too nice to canabalize ! Damn ! I got a killer buy on it too !

I have a W210 E320 wagon (silver) with the om613 engine. What sort of gains could I see from an engine with 240,000km on it. Still pulls like a freight train though. I am thinking of pulling and trying to shoehorn it into my 1987 BMW E28 (yep!). Will remapping ECU delete all the MBZ chassis I’d crap and allow it to be used in my E28. If I wasn’t in NZ I would bring both cars to you and let you do the work. Cheers.

Love the channel, these motors are excellent. I am considering buying one of these cars as a runabout, and tuning in the car with the possibility of swapping into the GQ patrol in place of the td42t. Can the car be run with early mech pump and ditch all electrics? Was there a manual box option in these cars? Cheers!
The manual option exist and is considered a good drivetrain.

I make separate maps for 7.5-8mm pumps. Using a 4bar map sensor too.
@@seanyt121 Hi Sean, I have your ECU, just need a new chip for the 7.5-8mm. my project hasn't moved from the last time we spoke. I was curious to see what numbers a 7.5mm pump with your stage 2 would yeild with the hybrid turbo or a T04e as you suggested me.
I once had a lil conversation with Ole (that 722.6 Gearbox-ECU-Guy from Denmark) and he told me that it’s possible to use his Gearbox-ECU in a car that gots a 722.6 fitted from the factory.
So no problems at all 🤷♂️

Do anybody know, how strong the 722.6 in the 606 210 is? Its the smaler version 722.6 W5A330 whats means torque limit 330NM (243ft lb).

Just found you and I love the channel. I have a 1978 F150 long bed super cab, I am considering a Mercedes OM606 diesel vs a Cummins 4bt to swap into the Ford.
In Michigan I don't have to pass emissions testing so I want to strip all of the pollution control off and get about 400-500 hp. Could you do a show for us here in the USA without all the emissions junk and what would be the best tyranny combo for an automatic trans?

Tuning box basically is a £1 1k ohm adjustable potentiometer, aka the evry mod, ive a Sean treacey stage 2 ecu with evry, hx35 and est it’d be easily over 300fwhp

What does the ecu do on this engine? I thought it was all mechanical.
Later engines went to EDC, the ECU controls the fuel pump electronically.
Torque request made from the FBW throttle.
It was mainly to control emissions the computer controls fuel flow to the engine rather the mechanical linkage

With the stage two upgrade ecu. Do you still physically have to block off the Egr valve. For it to work properly . Or can you just leave it standard looking....
You can remove or keep it. Buts operation is disabled.

Once it's a good gearbox and doesn't have bad service history or worn frictions. Then yes
Is there a a big advantage going from reflash tuning to standalone engine management on a diesel?
om606 is a old engine which uses mechanical pump with electronic back. Common rail diesel variants such as om613 om648 etc would benefit standalone ecu more than the om606! Yoy can modify the ecu to do everything u want it to do! You can install anti lag system, You can tune the car much much better, plus premium standalone ecus are much safer if they see something wrong like (Oil pressure low, Low oil level, Boost level) they cut fuel or you can limit the boost cut so it doesn’t explode your engine! Standalone is a way to go for better power management

Hello from the US. I've had turbo Volvo's my whole life and looking to get a reliable Turbo Deisel. I'm confused. I though 99 was the model year to get because it had the strongest engine without the electronics nightmare potential. Is this common rail or mechanical pump? If its mechanical what does the ECU control? I'm in the US so our options for 90s e300TD are extremely limited. For example I don't the US got any 90's TD wagons. Which would've been my choice.
I have 2 e300 and bought them specifically because they were mechanical. I didn't think they had ecu's. What's up? They are great btw. Going to convert them to boat use.
@@thereissomecoolstuff To be completely mechanical you have to use an OM603 injection pump as I understand it. I have to W140 S class turbo diesel cars with the OM603 engine and they have already the EDS system on them.

@@thereissomecoolstuff Last years of the w124 (93-95) had the OM606 NA with mechanical pump with 5.5mm elements (at least over here in Europe, not sure 100% about US), from W210 it is electronically controlled (ECU), it basically controls the rack, based on various inputs, like throttle position, airflow, boost etc., same with w140 both OM603 and )OM606 versions (Although I believe US did not get 606 W140's) Earlier OM603 pumps can be used but have smaller pump elements, so those would need to be changed if you want similar performance. Standard OM606 turbo has 6mm elements, as far as I recall OM603 turbo has 5,5mm elements but pump can be adjusted somewhat to compensate.
