@@stumo8681 duuuuur. The problem is that the dyno measures power at the wheels and many dynos need a correction factor entered to figure out the engine power. People can and do enter silly drive train loss numbers so their engine hp appears high.
Here in the states I had to have my ecu socketed and then chipped. Went rocketchip stage 2, immo and egr delete. It made 177hp with lite smoke. Egts get high and its spool up time is really slow below 2500 rpm. Other wise I'm happy with it. Planning on larger turbo and 8mm edc pump, if I can get someone to tune it.
Thanks, I recently got myself a beautiful 1998 E300D that had a turbo fault readout...turned out to be the Turbocharger Pressure Converter that I replaced for $20.00 on Ebay...friggin runs great now ! I originally bought the car as a donor to swap the engine into my 1982 Chevy Cube van that I made into an RV. But everything in the car works as it should and it's a Beauty and is way too nice to canabalize ! Damn ! I got a killer buy on it too !
I'm in the same boat as you. I have came across an om605 turbo for sale at the moment for 5k in Victoria and I'm on the border between Vic and NSW. Best part about this hidden gem is not many know about these engines so it gives me time to save. Hope you get a hold of one too.
In the same boat here. I got told recently only 20 of them made it in to Aus. Only reasonable solution I've come up with is to wait a couple more years and bring one in from the UK under the 25 year rule.

I once had a lil conversation with Ole (that 722.6 Gearbox-ECU-Guy from Denmark) and he told me that it’s possible to use his Gearbox-ECU in a car that gots a 722.6 fitted from the factory. So no problems at all 🤷♂️

I have a W210 E320 wagon (silver) with the om613 engine. What sort of gains could I see from an engine with 240,000km on it. Still pulls like a freight train though. I am thinking of pulling and trying to shoehorn it into my 1987 BMW E28 (yep!). Will remapping ECU delete all the MBZ chassis I’d crap and allow it to be used in my E28. If I wasn’t in NZ I would bring both cars to you and let you do the work. Cheers.

the stock application for the 98-99 om606.962 comes with an electronically controlled one. This guy (and alot of people tuning these) offers mechanical pump options that come with larger elements and such. It bolts onto the engine and eliminates the need for the ecu. This video is just showing options for people keeping the stock electronic injection pump

Hello from Poland, I have a 210 ohm606 177 horses with an automatic transmission, I want to increase the power with minimal modifications, I replaced new injectors, a chain, I’m interested in a ready-made solution for a stock engine
DPUK. So would it be reasonable to upgrade the puffmatic to the 5HP30 ? I understand the ZF auto gearbox is softly shifting between ratios to protect it from overheating the fluid and or clutches ! V.
With the stage two upgrade ecu. Do you still physically have to block off the Egr valve. For it to work properly . Or can you just leave it standard looking....

om606 is a old engine which uses mechanical pump with electronic back. Common rail diesel variants such as om613 om648 etc would benefit standalone ecu more than the om606! Yoy can modify the ecu to do everything u want it to do! You can install anti lag system, You can tune the car much much better, plus premium standalone ecus are much safer if they see something wrong like (Oil pressure low, Low oil level, Boost level) they cut fuel or you can limit the boost cut so it doesn’t explode your engine! Standalone is a way to go for better power management

A 50% increase in power and 30% increase in torque is excellent no matter how ''small'' the numbers alone are.

I make separate maps for 7.5-8mm pumps. Using a 4bar map sensor too.

Ps I have a 1995 12 valve cummins paired up with the notorious bullet proof NV5600 6 speed trans in my 1972 F250 4x4. I get 27 mpg.

I thought they didn’t use a ecu or something because of the injection?

The manual option exist and is considered a good drivetrain.
