A classic from the Rev Al Wilson! One of my favs to sing at Karaoke! No one reacts to this song thank you! P.S. Thank-You!
Asia & BJ, you'll LOVE his "Show And Tell" !!!!! It is OUTSTANDING!!!!!
edit- his vocals on "Show And Tell" are head and shoulders above this one. A soul classic.
They already did ...Show in tell!! My fav!!
@@michaelasay8587 can you provide a link?
Look at this cat! Oh this is a good tune. Have not heard it in a while. Good break, BJ! Yup! Great lesson in the tune. Al Wilson delivered. Thank you. Great reaction.
Thanks for listening
This was my favorite song when I was a kid!
Really? It could'nt have been much of a hot ..I don't remember it.But love it. My fav by him is...Show and tell!!
A cautionary take with a very valuable lesson to be learned, ladies! What an allegory!
This was huge in the UK Northern Soul movement in the early 70's where British soul fans dug out 'failed' but great Soul tracks and danced all night to them. Search Northern Soul to see. One fantstic example on the more mellow side is Bobby Sheen Something new to do, check it out!!
Great to see your reaction to my choice. Back in the late 70s Al Wilson appeared in New York City Felt Forum next to Madison Square Garden in a Soul Extravaganza. It was a whos who list of performers.
Definitely 70s. The clothes give him away. Thanks for this. It’s been a long time since I heard this. Love your reactions BTW. 👏👏🇨🇦
Thanks for watching!
Just a great lesson in trust and awareness...
Not nearly enough people seem to remember this fantastic song.
No good deed goes unpunished.
Mr. AL Wilson, Rhythm and Blues with Soul. Always enjoyed his music. Slow Dance or grooving on the floor. I remember buying my first pair of Bell Bottom Jeans. I was 14. I was so cool( well I thought I was ). Back in those days we wore jeans until they were wholly in knees and raggedy on the bottom. There was no buying them that way. BJ why would you wear that silly hat while you're sitting next to such a lovely lady.
Edgar Winter - Frankenstein. The video. Crazy talent.
Sinatra- That's Life.
Steely Dan - Peg, Babylon Sisters, Aja, Kid Charlemagne, Only a Fool Would Say That.
Haven’t heard this in decades! Thanks! ❤
I had no idea Al Wilson did this song. I only know the version by Tom Jones. Great song
Miss your lives for music requests will you be doing those in the future still? Love all your videos and you too eternally 💗👍💐😘😚😍🌸👍🥰💗🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I've been asking reactors to do this song forever and no one has. So a big thank you for doing this. I love this song. I hate to say it but sometimes I've been the snake and somtimes I've been bitten. I guess that's karma.
He was a really nice guy. Met him years ago when I was a teenager. Show and Tell please
One of my favorites!
First heard this as a 15 year old in about 1967/8 from a different artist who charted with it. Made a deep impression upon me in terms of understanding just how the world really worked in reality. BJ is right about inviting the wrong people into your life, but it goes much broader than that. There are multitudes of various snakes out there just waiting to give you that good bite because you were sucker enough to not believe who they were or that they would not turn on you. Be careful and wise.
The other artist may have been Oscar Brown, Jr. who wrote this song and released it in 1963 or Johnny Rivers who also covered it in 1968.
Wow…heard the song on the radio, first time seeing him. Cool!!!!
Never heard it on the radio...couldn't have been a hit.
Show and Tell is even better
KTF ✊
Al Wilson's The Snake dropped in 1969 guys!
"The Snake" is a song written and first recorded by civil-rights activist Oscar Brown in 1963; it became a hit single for American singer Al Wilson in 1968. In the U.S., the hit version of "The Snake" was released in 1968, on Johnny Rivers' Soul City Records..Wikipedia
Apostle Paul was bit by deadly snake but he shook it off and carried on.
A classic northern soul tunnnnneee
This was released in 1969. Love it.
Great song from 1969
I believe it was originally written as a protest song, but it could be thought of in a number of ways. Certainly politically, but also with women who get in relationships with abusive men.
Watch out! The Snake will bite you, haha shoot! Cool song.
Looking good in that shirt BJ
Please dive deeper into the Northern Soul rabbit hole x
69 Great story! very wise to boot..
This song was out in 1968. Not sure about this video though.
Loved this song! You really need to listen to Aint gonna bunp no more by Joe Tex you be very surprised lol.
Hated by many on the Northern Soul scene. But I like it.✌🏻😬🏴
Aye, hated by the snobs on the Northern scene (sigh)... It's a great record IMO, great lyrics too.
@@lilyanaharforde3374
Ya know that. lol
One of the first Northern tunes I heard.✌🏻
@@colinpatterson5125 = Oh Yes
I was a mod in the 80's and you'd hear it on the rallies or at some do - It ended up on one of my cassettes of course 😜
Yes I got that impression too. My brother was a NS dj for a couple of decades but wouldn't consider this one. I've always loved it.
@@lsmith992
I DJ’d a few Northern Venues. & as the needle hit the Vinyl……you could see some people in the crowd thinking “Should i”? Great tune. Lots of Soulies forget their roots. It’s “Youth Club Soul” At its best.✌🏻🤗
Sounds like a rally saying heard many times
Never heard this...was it much of a hit? What is this snake? Was it a big one? Long? Just ssking...😂
The guy who started Roto Rooter
ATTABOY
The snake is most men in my female opinion. Not to be trusted. (Joke)
An appropriate allegory for all of the illegals coming across the border.
