It is a metaphor. He's a user , probs taken her heart, money and home. But she knew he was a snake !
Thanks for featuring Northern Soul again, and this is a classic - please continue with more because there aren't many other reactors who feature it - an odd track but more often its the danceability which makes a track fit Northern Soul than what the song is about. Some more I'd recommend are "Needle in a Haystack" by the Velvelettes, "Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)" by Frank Wilson, "Ghost in My House" by R Dean Taylor, "Long After Tonight is Over" by Jimmy Radcliffe and "Better Use Your Head" by Little Anthony and the Imperials.
Another Northern Soul track you should listen to is 'Turning My Heartbeat Up' by The MVPs This more than many tracks truly evokes that feeling of euphoria and belonging many of us old Soulies found when first discovering this music scene.

You have to react to Wigan Casino's '3 before 8' played at the end of the all-nighters between 1973 and 1981: "Time Will Pass You By" by Tobi Legend, "Long After Tonight Is All Over" by Jimmy Radcliffe, and "I'm on My Way" by Dean Parrish.. Wigan Council wanted the land on which the Casino was built and it mysteriously burned down a short while after closure
ALSO A GOOD FUN REGGAE ONE IS SPECIAL BREW, AND THE CAN CAN
There's still quite an underground following of Northern Soul in its heartland of Wigan. It's only an hours drive from me.

Ahhh classic tale of a woman that thinks if shes good to this man he wont "bite".But she finds out,as all "tender hearted women" do that the snake has an ulterior motive and hes going to "bite".👿

My Heart's Symphony by Garry Lewis and the Playboys is a personal favourite of mine, but tbh there's so much Northern soul that is worth reacting to..
The point to the song is . Beware of the people you might think are helpless ! It might come back to bite you? Or the person you vote for?

Definitely- a metaphor…..hugely popular in the Northern Soul scene of years gone by…..less so these because I guess it became too popular. Good tune though
