    A round of golf normally lasts about 4 hours.
    Should I charge the batteries after each use? You also recommended not overcharging them. My charger has a red/green light to indicate when they are charged. With this setup how do I avoid/know when to turn it off to avoid overcharging?

      Hello, you can find the chargers on Amazon by searching for 12V SLA battery charger. I don't recommend fast charging your batteries because it can damage it over time. The most charging current I would suggest for those batteries you mentioned would be 2A. It does take time to charge these batteries. Here is an example that is suitable for your batteries...amzn.to/3wQLpNF. I hope this helps.

    hi i have a container thats made for the bike, it has 2 batteries in it. i replaced one old dead one with a new one and charged it 2 times for 10- 16 hours but with one old dead and one new one i only have 1 minute of charge? why do i need to remove the old one form the container. or does it have to have 2 working batteries in the case

    • @diypotentials
      @diypotentials  5 місяців тому

      I would not mix dead batteries with new ones. If the batteries are connected, the dead ones will restrict current from passing through to the new ones. Thanks and good luck.

    I have a large Sears auto charger. It is stamped Output 12VDC 2/10 Amp. It has 3 settings manual, auto cut off-regular and auto cut off-deep cycle. I’ve used it to charge both my regular Car lead 12V and regular motorcycle battery. I’m sure it will work on the e-bike lead battery but what about a lithium battery?

    • @diypotentials
      @diypotentials  2 роки тому

      I personally would not use a lead acid battery charger to charge my lithium batteries, namely because lithium batteries are so expensive and costly to replace. If i must, I would charge my lithium batteries with a lead acid battery charger, but on regular basis i would not. Even that, the charging current and voltage levels would have to be compatible. There are number of good videos on UA-cam that highlight the different factors and characteristics of both batteries and that lead acid battery chargers might not do justice on lithium-ion batteries. Here are a couple to check out...

    • @diypotentials
      @diypotentials  Рік тому +1

      They should come pre-charged. But you can check their state of charge by charging them. The charger should show if they are charged or need to be charged. Lithium batteries are happy at around 30% to 80% state of charge. Avoid fully discharging or 100% fully charged…

    • @diypotentials
      @diypotentials  Рік тому +4

      It depends on the charger’s current output. You divide 18ah by the charging current rate of your charger. Say if your battery is completely depleted and your charger’s output currently is 2A, it would take about 9 hours. If the current is 3A, about 6 hours, and so on.

  • @lomgshorts3

    OK,
    Charging several 12V batteries, and I do not care what the manufacturers say. You must use a constant current, constant voltage charger on SLA, AGM, LIPO, or any other rechargeable battery. Why? This makes the battery last much longer that if you used a regular lead acid charger of any type. Between Amazon and eBay, you can find practically any voltage charger in existence. But you must find a constant current and constant voltage charger to maintain your battery for long past its warrantied lifetime. Don't be cheap on the charger! Remember, you get what you pay for, especially with Chinese made chargers. LiPo batteries have a problem, some Chinese make outlandish claims on their battery capacities, some by a factor of four! An 18650 battery from China rated at 9800 Mah, have been checked out at less than 2,000 Mah on the bench. The weight of the battery determines the amount of current it can supply. If a 9800 Mah Chinese battery weighs less than a Japanese battery rated at the same current level, the heavier battery wins! Read the fine print under the ad giving the specs on that battery that looks so very affordable. Chances are that battery is a lightweight fake. (My opinion, my experiences). Oh, it may work well enough in a flashlight, but not for as long as they claim. Those bright yellow or red batteries ("eye candy") from China just do not measure up to Japanese batteries or some South Korean batteries. Look at the weight (in grams) when battery shopping, or for what its worth, in Wal-Mart and buy the heavier battery in its class (including car and marine deep cycle batteries). Bring a fishing scale of up to 60lbs if you have one for the heavier batteries. If a store complains, walk away, they have something to hide. In batteries, weight has everything to tell about a battery.

    How long do you charge a dead dead battery ?

    • @diypotentials
      @diypotentials  2 роки тому +1

      Hello, assuming that the battery is still taking charge, it would depend on the battery capacity, and the charging current rate. You might have to charge it and time it to get an approximate time. Thanks!

    • @cherrybaby4940
      @cherrybaby4940 9 місяців тому

      You'll most likely need to jumpstart the charging process before the charger will recognize that it is even connected to a dead dead battery that needs charged and with that said most chargers won't even begin charging.
