Used to always record 1080p 3 years ago. Then decided to switch to 4K for better detail and flexibility. I always export my client video’s in 1080p though.
I've pretty much just gotten used to the 4K workflow after using it for 5 years. The extra resolution is clutch for both cropping and stabilizing footage. I almost always export into 1080P though.
@@ditermejia6027 The end-quality is similar if you don't crop or stabilize. 1080p still offers superb quality if the bitrate is high. You can still see every single strand of hair on a persons head etc. 4K is great for cropping to recompose your shot or for stabilizing to remove camera-shake.
Bruh your videos are under-freaking-rated. The quality and delivery is ridiculous (in a good way). Even though I'm not a film maker, I'm sticking around to watch anything you put out
I came here as I'm shooting in 4k on my Sony ZV - E10, and between a 1TB pc and 1TB external, I'm constantly assessing what footage to keep or delete. The 4K looks so crisp, but I'm just not sure the 1080 would be THAT noticable for talking head youtube videos. Hmmmm...
I'm just wondering why doesn't anyone ever talk about 2.7k? I feel like this is the happy medium. It is close enough in quality to 4k, without taking up as much storage, nor as difficult to edit. Even on UA-cam, when I specifically search for videos about 2.7k, the only results I get are comparing 1080p to 4k. 🤔
Thanks for the video... Great job! My question is, is there any difference in 4k video resolution on a smartphone versus a camera (let's say an APSC camera)? I want to record moving objects with my smartphone to sell on microstock platforms. The camera on my Poco M5s smartphone can record 4K @30fps. Is that number real? I'm a newbie in videography. If that number is just a gimmick, then I have to prepare to buy a second-hand camera for that.
Late to the party but I’m tryina figure out if I should shoot 1080p 60 or 4k 30 on my canon r50. Sometimes I feel the sting of lower frame rates and not being able to do slower motion but my camera doesn’t shoot 4k 60 :( I mostly just shoot pictures of my car but I’d love to do some videos. Slow motion is kind of a necessity for car videos tho so idk maybe I’ll shoot in 1080 and see how it looks
salamat pare, I make pokemon card content and recently switched to recording in 4k60fps to get that crisp image of the cards. exporting the videos on my PC takes a super long time though so I'm still playing with the settings. exporting in 4k60fps 24m video was going to take 5 hours so i switched export to 2k50fps and that cut down to 2 hours. going to keep playing aorund with it
@MikeBSalazar I have an event this weekend to record and so I'm actually considering recording in 4k30fps because I would run out of memory if I did 4k60. it's 7 hours long
Whay isnt talked about enough is the fact you need to drop big coin to support a 4K workflow: PC capable of editing 4K files, SSD, CF express card, CF Express reader... This is why I've stuck with my M50, I shoot sports with it semi professionally. Id like to set funds aside for an upgraded PC at the same time as my camera to support a 4K workflow
This is an excellent video. I liked your honest review on matters. I got a Canon 70D camera. But I dont know if it will give me the crisp video I am after when i see things on instagram and youtube.
Everyone’s iPhone camera is amazing and then there’s mine… I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max and the camera has been awful since it was brand new while everyone else’s was crystal clear. Any advice?
No matter the lighting or if the lenses are perfectly clean there always seems to be tons of noise. If I want a decent picture I usually have to take a 4K 60fps video, go through it frame by frame, and screenshot it.
When 4K was introduced it was night and day compared to 1080p now not much difference.I had the first Sony video camera the FX 1000 the footage was amazing when I compare it to my recent footage with my A7 R5 or the A74,.
I am using a Samsung Galaxy A52 for amateur filming. 1080p has unacceptable bright halo along the edges due to excessive sharpening. Therefore, I record 4K and convert it to 1080p. Then the quality is much better.
No action camera tho.... No1 is zoooming in when watching on youtube.... I will say if u pro pro 4k all the way, everyday youtube vlog and ppl with like u say poor Gear. U got no chance for 4k, What normal person got 70!!!! TB? haha. most Laptop still in 2025 comes with only 512gb or 1tb storage, sadly
Which are you recording? 1080p or 4K?

1080p don’t have enough space in my hard drive hahaha
@@BTMovieSecondChannel Yeah I used to give my clients a 1080p version and 4k version. Man it felt so silly to try to put it on a USB too haha.
@@AJGolosino Very practical. Do you still keep all your RAW footage?
@@BTMovieSecondChannela lot of people are saying 4k isn’t enough filming in 6k or 8k downscaling to 4k .

Agreed. Do you still hold onto the raw 4k footage or just keep the final export?
Came here looking for this comment. Is it much different than just filming in 1080?

Not a lot of cameras will shoot in 2.7K. I've seen in a couple, but you're right.
Loved your energy boy. Keep it up
Appreciate it! Thank you!
The only advantage of 4k is that it looks better in cropping
It sure does
Great video! Straight to the point with excellent examples. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!

If there was something in the middle I would probably use that. I would like more room to work with 1080p but not fill up my storage so fast
I feel that. I delete a lot of footage if I don't need them.
That’s why I use 2.7k

1080p 60 can still look good. Just slap on the right lens and you're already good
@@MikeBSalazar there’s problem number 2, I only have the kit lens and the nifty 50. Lenses are so damn expensive 😭
You should have included the bit rate
I'll have to do that if I remake this. Decided to be more basic with this one.

The 70D only shoots up to 720p right? It probably won't be as crisp.

Awful in what way? I'm guilty of accidentally smudging my lenses. The camera should perform excellent in well light situations.

I can agree with that. Especially with these down sampled sensors
Thank you brother, after your explanation, I think I will probably stick to 1080P
1080 is still good these days so right on!
4K all the way. I don't care about marketing and file size. Crispiness glory :)
The image is definitely worth it, even the compressed 4K on the FX30 you can get away with a great image

Lol. Here I am thinking 720p is good enough for my smartphone if the quality is good enough. 😂
Shhhh. Don't let them know hahaha
I just delete the video off my computer sd cards etc and keep it saved on UA-cam only haha. Otherwise I would need crazy storage
This is how I used to do it. Black Friday coming up though, great time to get storage for less.
Osmo Action 4, Osmo Pocket 3, Sony ZV 1F, 1080p all the way. 🤣 for vlogging purpose only
Hahaha
just marketing
no one cares if it is in 4k who is watching it
