I'm so jealous you live close enough to pop to Scotland as and when you like. Cracking 3:02 of coastline. Surprised, there was no issue with midges. Apparently, they have boomed up there this year (Scotland actually has a midge forecast online just like the weather). Glad you didn't put the tent up and toughed it out like a real bivy camper 👊👌 but at the same time I don't blame you at all for also taking the tent up Scotland. Thanks for the shoutout Adrian and you're most welcome for the shoutout too mate 👍 Lovely camp mate and very enjoyable 👊👌👍 Beautiful morning sunrise 🌅 🌄 and the perfect example of why we do it.
Hi Gez, thanks for watching, to be honest the tent was never coming out, (nice to have the back up), a bivy is too much fun, and to sit that storm out while dry and cosy was magic, yes we are lucky up here, less than an hour into Scotland,no midge problem on the coast spots as yet, Cheers Adrian
Hi Adrian, that camp looks even better than it did from a distance, thanks for showing us a closer look at it. Ruins looked really interesting. Bivvying was the right idea, magic, Graham 👍

@@BorderRambler hi Dave, great, no real secret, it’s just as I think, I was the first there, it would be fun to keep the mystery !!!! You just know everyone up here will be guessing ! I wonder how many do camp there as there are no signs, and it’s pristine, catch you soon Adrian
Magnificent location. A bivvy is FREEDOM...simple as. Find a spot, throw the bivvy down, sleep, move on....lol FREEDOM. What we all seek and few find. Stay well. stay safe until the next time. Helen.
Hi and thanks for watching, yes it was a cracking ivy camp, watching the sea and weather while all cosy, I hope you are feeling/ bearing up ok and are getting out for a camp Cheers Adrian
Hi and thanks for watching, I love the tarp and bivy, the only time a tent scores is when it’s wet on the way in, just a bit easier to jump in and sort yourself out, but as long as it’s a dry walk in I will always pick the tarp and bivy , watching the sea and weather was great, yes it was magic !! Cheers
Hi Adrian, what a stunning location. It's almost a shame I live about as far south as you can get in England, but I guess living close to the New Forest isn't too bad. Totally agree with you - tarp and bivi is the best set-up. I love falling to sleep watching the night sky.
Hi and thanks for watching, I was perfectly dry and yet I was fully open to the views on one side, you just wouldn’t have your tent open so the tarp and bivy is the best, Cheers

Hi Jimmy, it was a nice location and I loved being under the tarp in the rain !!! Are we mad ? Don’t think I will go down the music route as I just quickly knock the videos up on my phone as I go , Yes the pillows are the best worth the little bit of extra weight, can’t wait to see your latest hill camp, you certainly have the hill bug, and no midges with the breeze up high, you never spill the JD ! Cheers Adrian
Cheers for the Sub Adrian. I was going to get out today but decided against it due to the thunderstorms. Just going to do a day camp in the woods tomorrow.
Smashing video, thank you. I use those uncle Ben's meals quite a bit. I usually boil them in the bag, dead easy, just put the unopened bag and usually a rice one too, in a pan, cover with water, then boil it. After a couple of minutes boiling, you can take them out and they should be red hot. You can use the boiled water to make your drink. Worked brill and you don't have any pots to clean.
Hi and thanks for watching They are a handy cheaper alternative to camping meals Mind never thought of boil in the bag, magic, normally the rice wants some water added, can’t wait to try. Cheers Adrian
@@northumberlandmountainhopper I squash the bag of rice so it's not stuck together. There's enough moisture in the bag already when you do it that way.

Hi and thanks for watching, I don’t mind the gap as I am in the bivy, sometimes I put short guy lines on the ground side so it sits over the Heather etc better, and it gives the wind some where to escape, But it’s a good tip if you want to pin it down tight, Cheers

Hi and thanks for watching, did not see a tick this time, but on my ultimate tarp and bivy pitch video I ended up with 17 and the wife had to pick some off my back, I now cover my bivy, tent and rucksack in spray with permethrin in it expensive at £10 every few weeks but it works, The ticks I had that time were first stage lava I must have been where the eggs were !!! Cheers Adrian
I am often plagued with ticks but it is from day walking in my case. I know this because I do not do any wildcamping. Body brushing bracken seems to be the worst for it. Whether bivvy or tent camping you will still be doing the walk-in, and the sitting on the ground brewing and cooking etc. So technically speaking, whilst an open bivvy could allow more opportunity for ticks to find you, I believe in practice however that 80 or 90% of them will get you at the walking-in stage, ie, you will introduce them into the tent anyways. Kind regards.
Lol its only amateurs that can’t sleep outside without a tent ! Done Jungle , Mountain & Desert, bivvy bag n poncho , roll mat all u need 😉 no expensive gear, £30 British Army gortex bivvy bag , £20 for British army poncho (Basha)
