Saw Led Zep in Cincinnati on Tues April 19th and Weds April 20th 1977. Best concert i ever saw. Was 18 yrs old, senior in H.S. Everybody skipped school that day to drive from Dayton to go see the show. Detention was worth it. Bonham WAS the best drummer ever. Some say Neil Pert, but i say John.
Thank you for your review. You were super-real. I first heard this when I was 13. I thought all music after would be this level. Imagine my disappointment.
@@troymathews6573 mate not only Eddie van hallen did tricks with the guitar.Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix were the first that do tricks. On this song Jimmy did the screaming riff with a violin stick not chain saw.Lewis was wrong on this. Another one of my Favorite Zeppelin tracks!! Growing up in the 60s and 70s, Zeppelin Definitely caught my Ear and now I'm 59 years old, Still Love Zeppelin!! You already covered Kashmir. May I Suggest 2 more for Ya!! Believe Me, won't be done after these requests as far as Zeppelin goes but would like to take you on a Zeppelin Journey!! "HOW MANY MORE TIMES ", then maybe "NO QUARTER "!!
I am 63. This is our music, and it was based on the music that the writer heard when we were kids. The best advice I can give you is this: dig down and listen to everything, and I mean EVERYTHING.
It's harmonica with reverb added when the harmonica track was isolated and played backwards. Then Page reversed the track again so the reverb comes in front of the notes, not behind. Awesome effect.
Yes that is a harmonica, it is played with an echo effect but then the echo was recorded first with the real time playing second Jimmy page is also great producer
When I was growing up.. my parents and aunts and uncles and their friends all listened to Zeppelin. I had no idea the genius that I was hearing. At least not until I was older and understood every facet. This from someone who primarily listened to hip hop and rap. It just shows that any fan of Pac, Meth & Red, Nas, Busta... and so on... could also be a fan of Zeppelin.
"Mothership" is a greatest hits album Check out their discography for actual song/album releases for instance. When the levee breaks is from their fourth studio album. Their first 4 albums were unnamed and simply referred to as led zeppelin 1 thru 4. Glad your continuing.
4 white dudes from England playing perfect blues, man a lot of amazing music comes from black Americans. Man I love blues and Reggae personally but can't beat Led Zeppelin!
My personal favorite that you even hear some people single to on talent shows like x factor is the song called, "Whole Lotta Love". I think you will like that song even better than Dazed and Confused. There is also their song, "You Shook Me".
THE MIGHTY ZEP ROCK-- ROCK AND ROLL-- ACID ROCK-- HEAVY METAL-- PROGRESSIVE ROCK-- FOLK-- SOUL-- BLUES-- DISCO-- COUNTRY-- MIDDLE EASTERN-- POP--- LOVE SONGS--- IF THEY CAME BACK TODAY THEY CAN DO RAP ALSO THE MIGHTY LED
the tribute band called zepparella , (an all girls band ). put out a video covering this song. and i was shocked at how good they are. a must see video for led heads.
Legend goes shortly after this track was laid down? The local police received a complaint from the drum kit for physical assault & abuse! Nobody ever beat the shit out of a drum kit harder than John Bonham!
They have dozens of stellar jams and some incredible softies too. They were just simply incredible. Try "The Ocean". I know u get a ton of requests, so if u don't want to react here just definitely check out on your own. Such a cool listen.
A levee is literally a long row of dirt and rock piled up along the river. Lower Mississippi River has levees on both sides of the river to keep annual flood water from invading bottom land along the river. During excessive rains a levee breaks or the water flows over the levee flooding homes and farms along the river. Levees are maintained federally by Army Corps of Engineers.
According to who sampled dot com the drums in the intro have been sampled 211 times. They were used in some iconic songs by Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, NWA, Eric B and Rakim along with many others. Nice review fam.
They mixed in the harmonica.... Robert Plant has been seen playing it but, here they play over each other at the same time so,.........they must have mixed it in
Young Black people discovering the Blues. This is a great song performed masterfully. But don’t forget to explore the full art form. It’s your heritage, Black people. Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, W.C Handey and in and on and on. Discover the people who made it possible for white guys from Britain to make a pile of money off more than a little appropriation.
That’s about the only negative comments that you could make about this band - that they didn’t give credit where credit was due & that they could’ve also more than afforded royalties to the original masters. Not that they didn’t use the originals as inspiration to times it by 100 ( or 1,000) ... but there were many originals that they used w/o the proper recognition that shoulda been shown.
If you liked Dazed and Confused you would probably really like You shook me and How many more times. Both are from the first album which also had Dazed and Confuzed.
All their songs are great. Mothership is not one of their albums. It’s a remaster of some of their hits. Go deep and listen to their albums. Led Zeppelin I, II, III, IV, Houses of the Holy, Presence, Physical Grafitti, In Through the Out Door.
Now do In My Time of Dying. By the time we get to heaven and he's shouting over and over "Oh my Jesus! Oh my Jesus!" in a sort of spiritual ecstasy, you might start to think dying wont be so bad.
John Bonham has the craziest beats!! I play drums and it took me a long time to get this song down. It'd probably be easier if I could read music...lol, but hey, crazy drum beats. And John Bonham didn't have a double bass pedal set up but you'd never know that!
What Led Zeppelin did between 69 and 79 Can never be duplicated again
Four immensely talented musicians that as fate would have it played together for the first time in a room in London 1968 .... and the rest is history !!!!
Oh yeah. Better than hitting the lottery
I’ve been listening to this song for over 40 years and it keeps getting better

Yes its a harmonica played by the one and only Robert Plant lead singer.
Those drums give it up to John Bonham may he RIP.
