This man is simply a force of nature. I have loved listening to him in interviews. He is intelligent, warm, and kind. He is truly a virtuoso of the highest order. I usually don't like this genre much, but with John 5, I LOVE IT! Rock on John!
Hear hear. I've listened to him in a couple of interviews (notably 'No Guitar Is Safe' podcast) and liked what I heard but had never actually listened to him play until now. Impressive and very distinctive.
You both are pretty ignorant in my book. One bashes his spelling, as if auto correct has never gotten the better of you, and the other trashes his music. You should both probably consider your own problems before pointing out other people’s. Scum bags 🤷🏻♂️
Sad to say that Manson scared me away and this is Johns first show I've ever seen. DAMN ! What a versatile monster guitarist. I watched and enjoyed every second !❤❤
Agreed though I am sure John would agree himself when I say EVH will forever be known as the Guitar God, though shred’ers such as John and Dime definitely up there with Eddie. Respects 🤘🎸🤘

I just stumbled across this video and thought this wasn't going to be good almost let it slip away. I thought why not and boy am I glad I did. Watched the whole thing and was blown away by his style of musical material. I'm a self-taught guitar player with no lessons or reading sheet music. Lately, for the past few months, I have been coming up with my own material and a lot of it is similar to John 5's with the exception of working on getting my leads down better. Thanks for sharing the video I'm going to look into more of his videos available.
What a fun show! You get it all just so cool how he can play like the great pickers an he loved Roy Clark an Buck Owen's! I'm 40 an all my friends that play always said Roy Clark was the best an could play anything he wanted. RIP Roy an awesome for John to keep his memory an playing styles alive! An kudos to John for being himself an not tying himself to one genre it would be a bummer with all that talent!
First heard him as John Lowery on David Lee Roth's DLR Band album in 1998. Instantly was one of my favorite guitarists. Just love watching him perform.
John 5 is a genius. The difference between playing and instrument and understanding an instrument down to the last molecule is night and day. Guitars are clearly an extension of his soul.
The vast aray of the audience is testament to your skills as a player. John 5is not easily replaced just like the other greats although he chooses to be a hired gun which is fuk n awesome in itself
I admit I never paid attention to John as I was all over the map elsewhere musically. Lately since the MC announcement of Mick's retirement and John to his replacement, I've looked more for stuff he's done and been on, even as a sideman and man this guy can play. He's a killer musician and yes MC are lucky they got him.
Hello you there Dion Tillman here, WHOA, is there anything John can't play, and again I really feel that guitar players should know all styles and seems to me John has covered all the bases,❤
Another great musician to come out of Michigan! I've seen some of the greatest guitar players in the world and he's right up there at the top. I believe it has to do with the wide spectrum of music that he plays.
@@jadenthedesteroyer2252 Absolutely not taking anything away from Buckethead but their styles are truly different. John 5 has more energy in his sets and sounds nothing like him. John 5 was influenced by country music and I think he surpassed anything that Buckethead could do. I'll set and listen to them both one after the other and it's always the same. John 5 is the better player and they sound nothing alike.
@@jadenthedesteroyer2252 Buckethead is slower and melodic. I'll flip back and forth between the two and honestly halfway through the Buckethead album I'm finding myself bored because it seems repetitive. John 5 will play shit like Welcome to Violence and follow it up with a blues influenced track the next. John 5 is always pushing the boundaries of what a guitar can do and Buckethead just sticks with what he knows. I don't mean that as a slight by any means. If they were on stage trading licks back and forth there would be no doubt who has taken the guitar farther in what it can do and that's John 5. He is also very down to earth and has a good time on stage and his shows just rock harder. I think Buckethead would fit perfectly in a prog band. He is so talented but lacks stage presence. I've seen guitar players like Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Uli John Roth, Vivian Campbell, Toni Iommi, and Randy Rhodes, Michael Schenker, Joe Bonamassa and Richie Blackmore who are all guitar legends and they have more stage presence. A couple I just listed I would put their playing against Buckethead also. No offense but his robot is terrible. It reminds me of an awkward white guy trying to learn how to dance. I really thought it was a joke he was playing until I saw him doing it all the time. Once again I must say I do like Buckethead and he is an exceptional guitar player and nobody can take that away from him.

It's funny. He has such a bizzare on stage persona but in reality he's the coolest, most down to earth guy (at least based on all the interviews i've watched with him).

Motley Crue should consider themselves lucky to get this guy. Nikki & Tommy & Vince are gonna have to really bring it to keep up with John 5.
