Ive watched thousands and thousands of rock interviews, John 5 is one of the nicest, coolest human beings on the planet.

Yeah,,,,, you’re so very right. Brian Carol is the exact same way. Absolutely over-the-top true. They spend so much time by their selves working on their crafts, and they cut the cloth from such a good family background that this is what they have to offer. Buck Owens perhaps? lol

He is good. But literally every interview I've seen of him playing he plays the same 3 things. That Buckethead sounding jam he plays at the end, Chicken pickn the same old "heavy riffs" and the same solo with a few notes off. He's creative but a bit overrated, all I see is a country boy with some old hair metal riffs, and classic rock tunes in his pocket. He can definitely play lots of covers and it makes sense as to why he makes a living playing other people's songs for the majority of his gigs.
Nikki made a great choice. He's a phenomenal guitar player.

I really didn't know much about John 5 when they announced he was taking over from Mick.. This makes me feel much better about it.

John is such a nice, respectable guy. I’ve been a fan of him since I was probably 10 or so, I’m 22 now, and he’s just such a great guitar player and better person. I met him a few weeks ago during his solo tour. So nice and respectful, loves his fans and talking with them

J5 is a guitar devotee, so GREAT to watch this very talented and likable player.
I think John 5 is one of the most interesting players since Eddie van Halen.
It's hard to determine how is to sound like bucket, since he has over 100 albums and they are vary varied style-wise.
And EVH himself agrees with that. When David Lee Roth released the "DLR" album, the album on which John played Eddie commented by stating "In Lowery, Roth has finally found somebody who NAILS that vintage Van Halen fun factor."
High praise indeed.
Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen understood that the electric guitar was not just a musical instrument but a piece of technology and I think John 5 understood that right on point too,very underrated guitarist.
Buckethead is masterful though so who gives a shit. There is a bit more soul music influence in buckethead's playing. That's not a mark against John 5, they just have a bit of different styles, I love them both! @Mr. Meatballs

I agree. I met John, and he was a incredibly nice person. It was not like meeting someone new. I wish he was my neighbor, so he could tell me about all his guitars. What an amazing guitar player. Yes.. it's great to see his love of guitar. I have much respect for him after seeing his instrumental only show at the Tacoma guitar show.
I just posted this above, oI met him too, and he is just a nice guy. No over blown ego or bullshit. He does make you feel like you know him.
I got to meet him in person at a Horror/Monster movie convention in Burbank years ago, he stopped to talk to someone at a booth my girlfriend and I were checking out. I turned and said to her in a hushed voice "Dude that's John 5 he plays in Zombie's band he's freakin amazing" He overheard me, smiled and introduced himself and we talked about Monster movies for a good 3-4 minutes and was happy to let me take a picture. A genuinely nice human being and fantastic musician.
That's, like, genuinely a theme. The more hardcore your metal sound is, the nicer person you are IRL. lol

I remember seeing him on 'That Metal Show' 5 or 6 years ago, and he blew me away. I'd heard of him, but didn't know he was THAT good. He can play ANYTHING.
Arthur Bishop is he really underrated?i don’t really pay attention to who is being praised but if he is underrated that is sad.he is amazing and he seems like a real great guy

John 5 literally is the perfect guitar teacher, most guitar teachers just teach you basic boring shit that makes you uninterested when you’re beginning. I like his approach when teaching people to keep them picking up the instrument
But that's the point of beginning guitar, the basics are the most important thing to learn, come on use your brain 😂 you think a teacher is gonna teach you sweeps or legato on your 2nd/ 3rd lesson 🙄🙄🙄
@@nemesis8626 I think it's more of a thing of J5 and his passion about the instrument and playing in general and seems to be the kind of guy (that if teaching) would keep it interesting and explain (with passion) the what's , why's and where's of the basics and technical side and keep the budding guitarist interested!. Maybe I'm a bit jaded, but I took lessons (briefly) from a few people and I could never make much of a connection with the instructor, or they bored me, or idk..They just weren't good teachers that would use and waste the lesson fooling around on their guitar and then give me some homework lessons to learn as there wasn't much teaching going on during the session!.. Just because you're a teacher doesn't mean you're a good one!.....
@@nemesis8626 Draven & Danton are right though. It's crucial for a beginner to have fun & feel optimistic about it. They need something to make them want to come back.
I agree. I think that I would have done better with more reasons to stay engaged. Just watching him here makes me think about taking my guitar 🎸 out again!
@@nemesis8626the only important thing to teach a beginner is good technique and proper technique thats all. All you want a beginner guitarist is to fall in love and obsess with the instrument

Made me realize i was not a fan of Manson but of John 5.
Em Elle John 5 May have been a small part to Manson’s overall catalog, but his contributions are (obviously my own opinion) my top favorite Manson songs/albums. To my ears, there is a very noticeable difference before, during, and after John 5 left. To me, John created a very specific period for Manson’s work from his presence as part of the band. I wasn’t much of a fan of Manson until Holy Wood, and LOVED Golden Age of Grotesque, but I was not keen on Eat Me, Drink Me, and Manson has been very hit or miss since for me. It was only after randomly hearing Fiesty Cadavers that I learned who John 5 was and how he was the missing ingredient to what made those Manson albums stand out for me. Fan of John ever since.

I love how enthusiastic John 5 is. He doesn’t behave like someone who is just doing a job or is worn out. Look how he lights up when he plays his favorite riffs. I’m so excited to finally get to see him play live in just a few weeks.
I had never heard of John 5 until a week ago. So talented, humble, genuine and you can see he looooves playing. He’s inspiring. Great content.

John 5 rules. Hard to hate him. Just too damn likable and so very talented. All the guitarists in these segments make you want to play more. You see that it's not practice for them...it's the pure joy of playing. Nikki you're the man.

I loved the conversation, especially when John told us he starts teaching by finding something the new student can play right away that they love. I think that translates to learning anything, if you can approach it through your interests then you're probably going to put in the time and become good at the thing. I think it's such an important idea and I don't think I've heard it expressed any better.
I agree 100 percent with this. Now to try it for myself and see if I can play anything on a bass guitar or something like that cuz I only play stereo dial now but I love Rock. Am 64 in October.

I think people are just jealous of how talented j5 is so they come up with Liam exsusses to make themselves feel better,this kid broke his back to get that good, people should be more impressed by his work ethic and younger people should use him as a roll model for work ethic

You know as long as I've been watching him since the early nineties I've always wondered if he really does realize how good of a guitarist and actually just an all-round human being that he actually is it's amazing that there's still people out there like him in the middle scene you would think with his country soul that would be the type of music that he plays but that just shows you how creative he actually is thank you John 5 for my inspiration that you built inside of me I just wish I can hold a candlestick to the way you pick

One of the nicest, and greatest players of all time. I remember him coming in the studio and giving us his CD for session work. It was a showcase of what he could play. Even back in the day I was like holy shit this guy is good. He is truly turned into one of the greats in the world.

As a dude who grew up playing this way until high school where I began to read guitar music, I just wanna say how much I appreciate people learning to play without reading music. I can read music for almost any instrument now, and it has its own place in music, but being able to play by the sound of your instrument is just as amazing and it inspires so much creativity from artists to be intuitive to their instruments. This was an awesome segment, and it made me proud to be a 10 year veteran musician.

That's one I've watched over and over. How cool are two happy, sober. engaging musicians who still recognize their heroes and influences? I have no doubt that John 5 would play for minimum wage the rest of his life if he had to. and he'd be happy. Mr. Sixx has become kind of a metal renaissance man now that he's come out of the other end alive. I like how they treat music like a verb, or a torch to be kept lit.

I bought a guitar player mag with Nikki and Mick on the cover that had the tab for Feelgood and I learned every note on my dad's hondo classical guitar that he played for church. Love that E intro SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!

It's crazy seeing these guys' personas in metal growing up. They were larger than life. And now that they are older you just see the kid in them and their love and appreciation for music and how they grew up fans like us all. Without music life wouldn't be possible. And watching the movie "The Dirt" (best movie put out since blow) it has inspired me to get clean and that I still have love and dreams and goals. I've wasted so much life on drugs and alcohol but I am 32 and I'm looking to make the best out of the next half of my life sober and pursuing my dreams. I just wish there were more options for rehabilitation. But I am inspired again. Much love Nikki Sixx!!
