It's "thread lock", it helps the bolt to stay in place, not necessary. But be remember to take the car to an alignment shop when you're done. I did'nt, but if you want the steering to be perfect, you should.

Awesome video. I live in Norway, and the eu kontroll say that I need to replace the STYRELEDD. Is this the name of the part? 'For stor slitasje i styreledd venstre. Indre og ytre'. Many Thanks

Yes, that's correct "Styreledd". But it also says that you inner one is bad. That's the part you screw the tie rod onto. The ball joint itself is protected by the rubber boot on that particular part. In Swedish it is called "styrstag".
I have a video on how to change it on a volvo 940. Should be similar on the s70/v70.

I'm assuming it will be fairly similar to an xc70 from 2004? Are there any bolts that require specific torque?

There are specific torque for the bolts.
