The truth of RIOT is now that they are not a Game company or a Music company but a full ENTERTAINMENT Company

I almost feel like the bridging the Rift docuseries is the story of us all falling in love with Christian and his commitment to everyone

I love analyzing music and such in all sorts of media, even if I know nothing about making it myself. But hot damn if Riot even way before Arcane dont have one hell of a music department. Like they said in here, some of the people they have working at the company are literal wizards. They literally make a themes for every champion in a game with over a 160 characters at this point. And note, those themes dont play in game, this isnt a story game with big set pieces or anything. They make them just to give the character another dynamic and give them more personality. Not to mention the number of original songs they have made, like they said in this episode, they have made a new song for Worlds every year with some real big name artists, they made 3 fictional bands out of the league characters with their own albums.....just for fun?
The team over there are all crazy, in an absolutely amazing way, also idk if anyone told you and im a bit surprised they didn't mention it in this episode. But obviously they stuck imagine dragons in the show, and some of the directors, but they also stuck Ray in there (the violinist) as the actual violinist on stage in episode 5.

Heya - Wall of text inc. I'm sorry :D
Only one more to go till you can start digging into Runeterra (the world of LoL). Just commenting to give some hints where to start with hundreds of videos to react to.
Short overview FYI: Besides League of Legends, Riot also released several other types of games that aren't MOBA (and not getting memed on anymore why there is a "s" at the end of Riot GameS). Those are: Teamfight Tactics (TFT, auto battler), Legends of Runeterra (card game), Valorant (their shooter, doesn't really connect to LoLs lore though) and founded Riot Forge - which literally summarizes games from developers who are allowed to use LoLs IP/lore/characters while making a game (a great example of that is the single player RPG The Ruined King where you get to play 6 out of the 150+ champions LoL has so far).
Most of the stuff ppl want you to react to will be on LoLs main YT channel but there also is Necrit - a youtuber who over time became LoLs "lore god" or however ppl wanna call him. He makes videos talking about the background of all the champs, connects their stories and explains the world. We know Riot has started working on a MMORPG and a Fighting game aka Project L, which brought a lot of ppl from other communities into the world of Runeterra already which, like Arcane only viewers, didn't know anything about LoL before. Especially useful for those Necrit has made a video called "The world of Riots MMO is already done" where he literally tells everyone: "Hey this is the world Riot got and therefor we know it's gonna be great - but if you don't know I'll act as if you never heard about it and give you a short overview of whats the current state and what countries/states/areas we are looking at in Runeterra". If you care about the past and how we got here I'd recommend a second video of his called "STory of League of Legends explained" (21mins).
Besides these two video recommendations and what interests you there are different kinds of content to react to: music videos, skin trailers (how Riot makes most of their money since their games are all free to play, champion teasers (new character releases), season cinematics (we get one at the start of each season aka year) and esports songs where each year when there is Worlds (the LoL world championship around september-november) we get a new hype worlds "anthem". Before the finals we get a huge opening ceremony which includes the season start music and the worlds song (and whatever happened during a year if there was a big skin line). So the "they did an entire thing" during Welcome to the playgrounbd in your video was from the 2021 opening ceremony - and in 2018 we got K/DA - the virtual band aka skin line for 4 champions whose music video got made when Fortiche didn't work on Arcane as we saw in episode 2.
Ppl will lead you to the next video after starting but good starting points could be:
    a) K/DA since it's from Fortiche and you can enjoy art and music and get to see 4 of the most famous champs - their success made Riot release 5 more songs in 2020 - go in release order
    b) watching stuff from Arcane characters: "Get Jinxed" - Jinx' theme as music video, "Here comes Vi" (Vis theme, no music video but worth to listen to imo), "Warriors" (if you don't start with 2017 and their first season cinematic "The Climb" you could go out of order with the 2020 season cinematic which includes Arcane chars) or "True Damage - Giants" (another virtual band, with Ekko)
If you care about the world of LoL keep in mind that skins are alternative universes (like "Welcome aboard" for Jinx Odyssey skin which is Guardians of the Galaxy-ish and her crew fights monsters in different galaxies) and most of the time don't have anything to do with the main lore, though a lot of skin lines stories are worth a whole show itself or even connect to each other ... True Damage for example got to be cuz one of K/DAs members did a side project (and cuz Riot didn't do anything with K/DA in 2019 ;) so she helps her friend she met back in school to found this group.

Im still kinda surprised that they didnt use Miyavi as much as they shouldve.
Btw, Finn (the guy who tried to overthrow Silco) was voiced by Miyavi, the famous Japanese actor and musician. I wouldve loved to hear a few tracks from him included somewhere.
Oh well, hopefully he does something for season 2!

That would be great! At least Warriors, which has Cait and Vi, and Tales of Runeterra, which explains the main regions, and also has Heimerdinger, Jinx, and Ekko for P&Z.

I've been loving your reactions! I'm excited for The Legend of Vox Machina. I didn't expect you would hit that one. You should definitely watch the League World's 2021 open. They had sets for a few songs. Bea Miller, Enemy, and Pvris. It's SUPER cool!

Yeah, diving into Riot's music is a great experience. They also have a documentary on their music. It's called Frequencies.

    • @jeffkoenig7402
      @jeffkoenig7402 Рік тому +3

The problem (for me) with Frequencies' relevance to someone newer to Riot music is that, at this point, most of there best stuff came out after its release. I think it works better as something to go back to, just to see where they started, after someone has gotten familiar with Riot's music catalogue.
GT imo would be better starting off with World Finals opening ceremonies, and then checking out the individual videos for any songs he liked form those performances.
