By the time I was finished watching this "making of" series, Christian Linke link was my hero.

The interviews were actually conducted during the later stages of the show's production. Also, if you're used to the toxicity of online pvp games, you should be fine with the main game. Otherwise, you can play of their other games like Legends of Runeterra and Ruined King or wait for their upcoming MMO and fighting game

Christian Linke is such a huge force behind not just Arcane but Riot's entire music department and any of their narrative based media, he pretty much built the department to what it is from the very beginning. Definitely recommend the Frequencies documentary mentioned in another comment which came out a few years before Arcane.

Also, dont let the community let you stop from getting into playing League. Every online game has bad people. If it gets too much, just mute the chat.
Would love to be a part of your league journey (there are also a billion cinematics and music videos you could react to on this channel)

Something to point out. Arcane was in development for 6 years. The very beginning of Christian wanting to make this show took place when Riot as a public company was only a handful of years old. They were popular, but not famous. And definitely not a proven powerhouse. It looks so obvious now, but know that it's been a year since Arcane released. Meaning he was asking this of the company 7+ years ago. How could they be so confident then? Riot games launched League of Legends in 2009 and was practically a Kickstarted game. Then come 2015 some guy walks up to the CEO of that formerly Kickstarter company and says he wants to make a multimillion dollar full production series.

That does make a bit more sense when taking that into consideration. It’s hard to imagine when we have the masterpiece of a show we have now.

In addition to that, we don't know the details on the original draft for this show. Maybe there where actual problems with the story that would have let the show to turn out not this good. If the production wasn't set on hold and rebooted, there is a high chance we wouldn't have gotten the masterpiece we have now.

    • @leovk5779
      @leovk5779 Рік тому +4

@@jezzluck We have a lot of scenes in this episode of bridging the rift shown to be of the pilot or earlier tests), that are NOT in the first episode or not on the show at all. Some exemples: Someone drowning (Silco, in episode 3? Probably?). Powder screaming on an airship flying away. And on earlier extracts: the fight scene of Vi and Jayce (with them looking very different, especially Vi which looked more like she is in the game) already with the hammer and gloves. Vi in her flat in Piltover (she was supposed to be from Piltover originally? I mean, in the game she is team Piltover, but it's so far from the beggining of Arcane...), etc. It seems to me the story might haveturned out something between "meh" to just okay: characters meet and fight, without enough background maybe, with them already adults, already with their "final form" and their weapons, etc. The show would have been good in term of animation, music, and atmosphere, I think, but with a "meh" story, it would not have been the masterpiece we have now. The "intervention meeting" was probably deserved and maybe kinda saved the show?

This is what I love most about this game and the company - they are really passionate about what they do. It is not always a success but they try to listen to the critics and make it better next time.
The game itself is pretty addictive - that's why people are so against it because you get sucked into it and have a hard time leaving it.
If you are interested: They've done a documentary on their music department before. It is called "Frequencies". Christian was the head of the department at that time. He is the creative pioneer at Riot and his ideas mostly pop off because as you might guess he is a perfectionist. It takes a lot of courage to set such a big, time consuming, costly and ambicious project on hold because you realize this is not what you want it to be yet - not to mention the psychological burden in feeling that you dissapoint your hard working team and managing the frustration on top of that. Riot's team has always been legendary because only with this they can pull off these amazing and ambicious ideas/projects.
I very much believe that this documentary was done before even the premier of Arcane. So they didn't know if it will be a success or them being too biased of their own work at this time.
They did documentaries of various projects and topics before, so I am pretty sure they set up everything for the documentary from the beginning and finished it before release. It is amazing to see the making of from the Arcane themed 2021 Worlds Show open - I very much recommend it as a reaction together with the actual Show Open in one video. It is crazy what they had to manage there.

I'm just catching up on these videos of yours. But this whole documentary just enforces all the things I love about Riot. They are honestly an enigma, they ooze this passion about every damn thing they do in a way you dont see other companies do. Like any time you can hear them talk about the things they make they are just a bunch of really talented people making cool shit. And they also really do think big picture. Aside from all the stuff they went through to make Arcane, over the last few years they have been slowly turning League from an IP into a franchise. With different games, stories, music and more. Arcane may have been a gamble at the start (I mean it started development over 7 years ago at this point) but Riot has really made it a point that this big bold new direction is who they are, and its honestly really impressive just the sheer confidence and the results that they have been outputting. I personally really like league as a game, but honestly im more interested in what bold moves Riot might make next.

If you want to play a game in this universe,
there is Legends of Runeterra, the card game.
It is fantastic. The gameplay is good. the league characters are translated into the game exceptionally well 9/10 times. It is free to play. And not in name only. You do not need to spend anything to get the cards you want in a reasonable time. Like a full new deck of your choice every 2 weeks, which is orders of magnitudes better than than any competitor in online card games. Even if you decide to spend money on cards, you cannot gamble. No packs for sale. How insane is that.
Also there is a single-player mode which is quite fine.

Yes, Warriors were made specifically for League of Legends, or rather, with Riot Music for the 2014 World Championship. Imagine Dragons even did the live performance during the Finals, before the first match. You should definitely watch some Opening Ceremonies from Worlds and I recommend to start from 2014. Each and everyone was unique and never seen before in other industries like Music and Sport.

The reputation is one of the most moronic things Ive ever seen.
The game is quite fantastic, its THE most played AND watched game there is.
    Crap games dont accomplish that.
What everyone hates is the community.
This is for the same reason as its bad rep.
Its filled to the brim by rxtarded 14 year olds (or 20 somethings mentally stuck at 14) who quite literally messure their entire lifes value by their League Rank.
    Its toxic AF.
All you need to do is mute chat and you wont have a problem.
If you do that you will have one of the most engaging and rewarding game experiences there is.
It CAN also be frustrating as hell but only 'if you let it.*
When you lose, especially if you lose to some bs reason, just keep your head cool and remind yourself that is just a game.
This way you will nullify the negatives while keeping the positives.

    "Much spent" is subjective.
Its was roughly 10m an episode.
Its alot of money sure... But considering most shows spend 2 or 3 times more (or in the case of rings of prime almost 10 times) its not actially that much.

Warriors was not written for League, it was back in 2014 when it was still standard practice to take existing songs and use them with other media. Unfortunately licensing issues, copyright conflicts, royalty deals, etc became a problem as League continued to grow which led to Riot opting to produce all their own music in-house. Because they write/produce/create all their own music now, they have complete creative control of it now. Part 4 will go a little bit more into this, including why they wrote EVERY song in Arcane.
