Honestly I've always liked "Diabolus..." by Slayer!!!! First time I saw them was at Ozzfest Milton Keynes and they were touring this album. Solid album in my opinion too!!!!!!
Thanks for liking the concept/idea & making this video Mr Boulder! Risk, well the name says it all. The band took a risk with this one.......not good. St Anger, is underrated. Same goes with Vol. 8 tbh. Diabolus would probably be my favorite too from these 4 records, the band sounds fantastic on it just not their best material. I know I'm in the minority, here, but I've always preferred John Bush era Anthrax; I know at least Hetfield would back me up on that. I'd call Vol.8 their third best album - it's an excellent one 👍
I don't think I could rank these 4 properly as I've spent very little time with most of them. I don't mind Risk, it's by no means a good Megadeth album but I can certainly listen to it without skipping, I prefer it to Diabolous, which I've only heard very recently, Anthrax first for me.
Interesting concept for a video mate I picked up vol 8 last year and I think it's a solid album sound of white noise was my introduction to anthrax and remains my favourite I've always liked diabolis in musica but less said about St anger and risk the better for me

I actually don't mind Risk, I mean I don't listen to it often, Mustaine should have released it as a solo album cos it's too weak to be Megadeth. Fuck St Anger. Volume 8 is underrated. Hi James!! this was a tough one, revisiting some of the hated albums in the big 4 careers..... i listen to Vol ( again for the first time in ages and thought it was really good (not excellent, but good) and i always loved Bush singing in Anthrax. I tried to get into "St. Anger", but it's like hitting a wall, "Risk" bought it to complete the collection, but yes it's........ "Diabolous" is the only one i have not listen properly anf give it a try, maybe it's about time. cheers and be we
Nice ranking James! Not a nice job but someone has to do it! I've listened to half of these, Anthrax and Megadeth I haven't (really not looking forward to Risk). But honestly, I like St. Anger more than Diabolus! There are a handful of songs I think are good from Diablous, but a lot of it is too alternative/Nu Metal for me. I thought hate to love was an awful song. I did a video with Hector and JC talking about it. I would like to give the Anthrax a go, I haven't given the John Bush albums any time! I should change that 😊🤘

Can't wait for a whole video on St. Anger 😒😂 I've never listened to most of the Anthrax discography and I'm more than cool with that 😅 and I could do with revisiting most of Slayers discography. Great video. I completely agree with you here. The only album of these 4 that I really don't like at all is Risk. Terrible. I think St. Anger has some cool tracks, for sure. St. Anger and Some Kind of Monster are great. A few others are not that bad either. Too bad the production is shite. I would still rank it higher than Load & Reload. I hate those albums. I'm really glad you dig Volume 8 by Anthrax. I will never understand why so many dislike that album. There are at least 7 tracks on that album that kick ass. Big, huge riffs with tons of nasty groove all over the place. I would rank this one somewhere in the middle of the Anthrax discography, maybe higher. And then, we have Slayer. Obviously, this has a nu metal vibe to it, but it's still Slayer and still pretty good. A few tracks are great. I like this much better than Repentless. That is my least favorite Slayer album. Bad songwriting with cheesy, dumb lyrics in many of the tracks. The absence of Jeff really shows here.

Cool video. I can’t comment on Anthrax or Slayer but as far as Metallica, I have up until Load (It’s a good hard rock alb) and I’m out. As far as Megadeth, I have up until Youthanasia (underrated IMO) and then after that I’m out. Perhaps I’m missing out but musically, I’m kinda stuck in the 80s-early 90s with those two bands. Nothing after that grabs me.
Nothing ever really did it for me passed Reload, but I think Load was legitimately a great album. And there is some very heavy stuff on Load; King Nothing is groove metal at its grooviest and is sonically one of their heaviest metal songs, to my ear. But I'd agree it's a hard rock album, at least for the most part. The songwriting is arguably James' best, most mature stuff; Until It Sleeps is one of the their heaviest songs in terms of subject matter, as well as a heavy song in general, and super dark, probably the closest they've come sonically to something like Bauhaus. It seems they just kinda tanked in terms of song quality following Reload, although I honestly haven't given their newest stuff a listen yet.
Metallica saw a lot of commercial success with Load and Reload, but IMO St. Anger was a better album than either of those. The production and other decisions were definitely questionable. (What was Lars thinking?)

Yeah I always have enjoyed Diabolus but I've never liked Divine Intervention or God Hates Us All, funny opinion but no songs stand out on Divine for me, Stain of Mind and Bitter Peace from Diabolus are excellent songs!
I love Divine Intervention, I think it's a criminally underrated album. God Hates Us all I do enjoy, but it took quite a few listens. There are some underrated Slayer songs on Diabulous. Cheers for watching fella 👍

It wants to be like Load but definitely cannot reach that same level. Dreadful album man. I'll take St Anger anyday over Reload. Regarding Megadeth, I partially agree. Dystopia is a pretty good album imo - Poisonous Shadow is an exellent song :)
