Destructions Mad Butcher EP was a must-have back then. I was also lucky enough to see Kreator on their Extrem Aggression Tour when I was stationed in Germany. Good times!
Kreator is the winner for me! Their late albums had all the strong qualities of other good thrash metal bands. Sinister black metal vibe of sodom, melodic/nostalgic/melancholic/well structured/whatever you call it vibe of metallica, megadeth kind of complexity, and raw brutal force/groove of slayer
Destruction is by far the best band. Kreator and Sodom got boring after the proto-death/black metal stuff, and Tankard is great but sounds just like any other American thrash band with strong hardcore punk influences.
yeah early Destruction and sodom also Kreator where an inspiration for the second wave of Black metal...and was known in the BM community as Black Thrash🤘
That could be because black metal was born of thrash. Thrash got it's start from punk in all honesty. That being said, all forms of rock got it's start from blues and and even jazz. Good job on those covers. I’ve been listening to thrash metal for thirty plus years, that’s all I listened to in my sophomore and junior years. I like all of the bands that you played like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Kreator. But the American Thrash Metal bands started to change their sound in the 90’s, whether it was them or record label idea. America started to embrace Alternative and Nu Metal, the German bands stayed the same and never sold out to anyone, some even got harder. Maybe you can do a second tier of American and German Thrash Metal; Exodus, Testament and Overkill don’t get love and they like their German brothers never changed their sound. Anyways, I look forward to your next video...🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻

Honestly, I am a 50 something year old metalhead from the USA who lived through this era, never heard of a British big four. I heard Kreator, that's it, never heard of those other bands. Guess they weren't promoted in the USA. Sounds like music I would have liked. Will definitely check it out.
@@shannonwyatt1286 Skolnick destroys just about everyone, to be fair. But, if anyone is gonna give him a challenge that isn't in his own band, it may be Waters.

I loved all of your song choices, excellent representation, and I do love battles, so I guess I stumbled upon the right channel to sub to 😊🤟 Beautiful masterful work btw
German thrash, especially Kreator and, to a somewhat lesser extent, Sodom, were basically taking the aggression of Slayer and amping it up even more. I would say that those bands were basically playing death metal, before it was a thing, so therefore I think the Germans made thrash more brutal, but in terms of memorable, groovy thrash, I give the vote to America. It was put together better, and I'd say that musicianship was better with the likes of Hetfield, Mustaine, Cliff Burton, Dave Lombardo, and Hanneman in particular, and Anthrax's rhythm section was and is extremely tight
Your Videos are soo cool man keep up the good work !! I really like that you hype yourself up while you are playing the other Riff. It just makes me smile so hard :D

Go for it! I bought my 1st guitar in pieces for $8 and 2 blank cassette tapes. Mow lawns, shovel snow, deliver papers, pick weeds and get an amp too if you want! They say "hope" is a bad investment strategy, so sitting around waiting and hoping is probably not the quickest way bro!
Yes, it was fantastic to be a metalhead in Germany in the 80s. A huge German metal scene, tons of good bands and still getting to know what was going on in England and the USA and also what was going on in Europe. Every week there were a few good bands playing somewhere, and with the ticket prices at the time, we saw everything we could afford. 50+ concerts a year were not uncommon. I didn't realize how special it was until I was talking to my American cousin during a visit, who complained about the horrendous prices for concerts. The costs were similar to what we pay nowadays.
Indeed, I saw them live in 2018 in Mexico City, they totally kicked ass, people went crazy, they put up a great show (There are videos here on YT). Can't wait to see them this year along with Kreator, Sodom and Destruction in Monterrey, yes, the 4 german in the same night. It all started with Metallica album Kill Em All in 1983 that shocked metal world, after that everyone want to be the next Metallica
Awesome video! I had to google one band; that is just testament to the thouroughness of this compilation. I have been rocking out for nearly forty years!
Thanks mate 🤘
That Angel of Death riff might be the best riff ever... the drum timing make it so infectious
Thanks a lot ! In times of pandemic this comes in handy, greetings from Rio Gallegos, Argentina 🇦🇷
Burton C.Bell killing it on guitar, AMAZING!!!
spot on
Thanks man. I've been waiting for this.
What an awesome shredding tribute to both sets of "The Big Four"! This is badass!
Kreator 🤘🤘🤘🤘
If we're talking riffs then I can't go past Slayer and Megadeth. Great vid!!!
British big 4: Judas Priest, iron maiden, black sabbath, Motörhead
Best
A new contender has arrived.
That’s not thrash though
Ewww except for maiden
@@sirsaltytampon4379 bro you are actually on crack😬
Love em all, all awesome bands, i feel like tankard doesn't get enough credit though.
Super entertaining! All these bands were a huge part of my life and, in particular, these albums. So much good music and guitar work here. WOW!
Love all these bands and being originally from Germany and living in the US I try to show all my metalhead friends that don't get much foreign exposure the tectonic big 4. Kreator is my all time favorite
Good choices .love all THRASH metal.but the sounds of German THRASH has that extra hard hitting sound!💥👹💀😠💪
Honestly, I am a 50 something year old metalhead from the USA who lived through this era, never heard of a British big four. I heard Kreator, that's it, never heard of those other bands. Guess they weren't promoted in the USA. Sounds like music I would have liked. Will definitely check it out.
Kreator for me was the first one...extreme aggression 89 and coma of souls 90..great stuff...saying hi from germany...Rock on.
i thought kreator was from here sounds awesome!!!!
I liked the video before even watching
I can't believe I just found this channel, freaking amazing!!
Thanks man ! Welcome !
Jackson is honestly my favourite guitar brand I love them so much
You're an excellent human being sir. Thanks for turning me on to Holy Moses! Keep it up brother. Maybe we can do a guitar thrash duel one day!
Metal era of big 4 VS experimental-era: Anthrax with John Bush, Metallica 96-2003, Megadeth 94-99, Slayer 96-2001.
Seconded
John bush for the win
Oh my God, are you Evgeny Linnik from Ouroboros?! This band is insane, my favorite tech death metal band!
@@kermeetton sorry man, but no, just namesake.
Wicked video!! I’ve been a metal head since sixth grade and I need to check out these German bands!! Thanks bro!! 🤘
Jeff Waters/Annihilator vs Alex Skolnick/Testament?
Silver streak would annihilate Jeff waters
shannon wyatt Sure, whatever you say. Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one.
shannon wyatt yep
Alex is the best soloist of the two in my opinion. They are both legends regardless
@@shannonwyatt1286 Skolnick destroys just about everyone, to be fair. But, if anyone is gonna give him a challenge that isn't in his own band, it may be Waters.
Mega Dave rulez them all! Greetings from Germany. 🤘
Gruß aus Düsseldorf 🤘
Selbe Ecke...die Welt ist ein Dorf.
Gruß aus Gießen 🤘
Mega Dave 😂😂 sorry ^^
Reign in blood is the most extreme album off all US Bands, but you can find many albums of this type on the german side. So german metal is definitely extremer, heavier and faster! But this doesnt mean to be better!
💯
Thats why I always prefered german thrash. Dark Angel from US is sick tho.
Um just heavy out of the big 4?cause ya know America has Death.
Reign un Blood most Extreme???? Nah Bro, Just get a death album (like leprosy) and then you can see...and it's no the most Extreme
Am talking about Thrash bands not Death Metal
This was definitely fun to watch. Keep up the great work man.
You just earned a sub. Thrash on!!!
Thanks mate ! Welcome 🤘
Amazing video!!!
My fav are Megadeth and Kreator 🤘
A concert of both Big 4's would be epic🤘 great video!
Really good video may be try others great bands of thrash metal like Exodus, Testament, Overkill, Dark Angel🤘

Like usual bro! Absolutely fantastic! Slayer & Metallica are best!
German metal is better - more speed
@@Rusw0lf melody duut no speed
The two of you are so great at hyping each other up. Good stuff.
I loved all of your song choices, excellent representation, and I do love battles, so I guess I stumbled upon the right channel to sub to 😊🤟
Beautiful masterful work btw
Thanks mate ! Welcome 🤘
Recommendation of the day : Artillery.
Believe me, you won’t regret
Nothing special
Fucking right, I recommend Terror Squad, By Inheritance and B.A.C.K.
Their best albums IMO
Thanks, I heard a new band today. It's really good! Cheers!
Yeah great band
Un capo éste sr tocando las guitarras,me encantó su vídeo...mis saludos atentamente desde la Patagonia norte Argentina 🇦🇷🤘🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Which ever side Jeff Hanneman is on wins...
Yes! May he Rest In Peace.
Legend Jeff
Geil, macht voll Bock! Aber mir fällt gerade wieder auf, wie fett Metallica-Riffs sind!
Danke Adrian !!
Ja voll geil. Das einzige Problem das ich mit Metallica habe ist Hatfield's Gesang.
Schattenhieb Jetzt Oder in the 80er?
Der Gesang hat mir nie gefallen.
primär die alten Sachen, zwischendurch zu sehr mainstrea m... - meine Meinung - 🤘
Schon ein absolut feiner Mix aus feinster Mucke. I absolutely celebrate your channel, man. Your choice of material is outstanding
Vielen Dank ! Cool das es dir gefällt !
Slayer e Destruction... Sem comparação. As melhores e brutais.
Nuclear Winter!!!! \m/
Dang Mr. Suffocater!
You have every guitar I have ever wanted.
We would like to see that Suffocater Collection sometime on video.
The German Big Four... Of Course... Always loyal to their music values... Greetings from Chile..
it's actually Chile being loyal to our music values, when it comes to military marches ;-) hola!
Viva chile
Venom influence
German metal is better - more speed
And Tankard were writing songs about drunkenly puking on themselves and getting too scared of zombie movies 💪
Sodom dived in death metal...
You're totally killing it my man
Nothing hits harder than 7:53… PUMPED WITH FLUID, INSIDE YOUR BRAIN… PRESSURE IN YOUR SKULL BEGINS PUSHING THROUGH YOUR EYES 👀
Ура товарищи !
Тарас и не на мове?..
Ну, что ж, действительно - ура! ☺
Аж поперхнулся читая коменты на английском, увидев русский.
Реально отжег Тарас. ))
А в целом Ура🤘
Great video. American here but a Kreator fan. They’ve rocked hard for many years!!
Brutal
I love big 4 german
That first Slayer riff beat them all, but none of them can touch Metallica as a whole.
Excellent work and choices! 🏅Your methodology has me wanting to choose my own favorites 😁🤔😊
Your Videos are soo cool man keep up the good work !! I really like that you hype yourself up while you are playing the other Riff. It just makes me smile so hard :D
I'm still trying to save money to get my first electric guitar I saw a sick looking Mitchell for 175 I'm deciding if I would get that or a Epiphone Les Paul right now my parents have to pay the rent so I'm waiting until next week or someday when a miracle comes from the guitar gods
I would recommend Epiphone- a reputable company, and if you get to learn on that instrument, you're ahead of the game.
Did you consider Harley Benton guitars?
LTD or Jackson please...
Tankard.... so under rated!! 🤘🏼🍻
We've got the money! And we've got the time!
R. I. B rest in beer!!
Tankard has a big thrasher fan club in Latin America
Indeed, I saw them live in 2018 in Mexico City, they totally kicked ass, people went crazy, they put up a great show (There are videos here on YT). Can't wait to see them this year along with Kreator, Sodom and Destruction in Monterrey, yes, the 4 german in the same night. I've told friends that Tankard should play 2 to last, or maybe the last of the 4 given what I saw in Mexico City...
I recently quit drinking, am I still allowed to listen to Tankard? 😂
