    Great review. 698 Mono vs. 950. It comes down to this - playful & approachable vs. pure adrenaline rush. Whichever you pick, wheelies are NON-NEGOTIABLE 😉

    Traded my 950 RVE for the 698 Mono RVE with the termi race kit. Waiting for delivery though. Very curious about the experience of the lower power but in turn lower weight. Thanks for the video!

      I ended up trading my 950 too. The 950 has balls to the wall power so it's a very different experience. The 950 vs. my 240hp Streetfighter even has a huge difference. The 950 just has silly amounts of torque. I love it but I wanted something more controllable and easier to learn to stunt. While the torque in the 698 is nowhere near the 950 (I've never felt a bike as punchy as the 950.), I was pleasantly surprised that when I accelerated hard on the 698, I had to hold on tight. It's got some good power to it if you twist the throttle. You twist the throttle an inch on the 950, you get thrown off. LOL. But you can crank the throttle on the 698 and have some great fun (especially since it will wheelie right from 2500 RPM or so. It's a fun bike so far and I can't wait to see how the Termignoni's and tune will further wake it up!

    I'd have to go with the 698 between the two, but I've also owned another Ducati with that 950 engine. I'm like you in that I've got to experience all of what Ducati has to offer. That said, I rode my 1098s into work today because I felt like flexing on the plebs. It was everything I hoped it would be.

    Was considering the Husky/ KTM supermoto prior to buying the Hyper 950. I love my 950 but yet it falls short where the Husky/ KTM shine. On other hand the Husky/ KTM fall short where the 950 shines.

    Awesome comparison! How is the seat comfort compared between the two? You mentioned in the Mono review that the seat on the Mono was pretty decent :)

      The seats are similar. The Mono's seat is a little narrower. But neither seat is what I would consider 'plush.' A bit on the stiff side. But that's to be expected with these bikes. Overall, after this 200 mile run, my backside felt the same as my other bikes (including my Multistrada).

    Good Video! No bike provides a bigger smile at speeds below 60 than a ~650SM, or is more agile around town. It's not fun above 70 (position and wind), it's safer to have that 'garage sale" at a lower speed anyway. I'm still rocking my 20 year old SMC625, less weight (291 pounds), less power, less gears, zero rider aids compared to the duci, but I don't think I'm missing out on any of the fun.

    I have a 2022 Ducati Monster, is it possible to loop the bike even though I have it set at wheelie control 1? Cant really figure out how ut works..

      I actually spoke with a Ducati engineer for about 30 mins on this. In theory, yes, wheelie control on the monster will work with the IMU to calculate angle and cut spark thereby controling and stopping lift. But always cover the rear brake anyway, keep your handle bars straight, and keep the throttle on so you come down smoothly. Wheelie control 1 should let the bike come up I'm guessing at least three feet. I'm making a video on this soon so stay tuned.

    Good comparison!! The mono is lighter and probably more fun to ride, but the 950 has more power, that sexy rear with the mono... is just prettier and more muscular. Both are awesome of course, but I 'd probably go with the 950. :-) maybe a used one

      Can't go wrong with the 950. IMHO it looks better and the jolt of power with every millimeter of throttle is fun (in race mode. You can tone that down in a lower mode of course so it's less crazy.). Let me know what you end up getting!

    I thought the tech pac and traction control, wheelie and slide control software was the same between the two bikes at least on the 2024 950 Hyper SP.

      No the 698 literally helps you safely drift, back it in, and will basically do a wheelie (and hold it) for you (but you have the get the termingoni exhaust, upmap, and the wheelie assist app option).

    Shame you can't get the Ducati Wheelie Control software for the stock bike or perhaps with the street legal Termignoni slip-ons. Perhaps if they bring out an SP in a few months that'll have it as standard.

      Fully agree. While it does have wheelie control (the safety mechanism), I agree that wheelie coaching app would have been nice on the stock bike.

    This bike looks like a lot of fun on the track. Is it just a bike to ride like a hooligan or can you actually be comfortable on a two-hour ride? It seems like it would make a great second bike for short trips.

      My initial thoughts are the 950 would be better for a two hour ride. But I will test that out soon (because a trip to my mother's house is 200 miles round trip). :O)

      @@phresco732 Yeah if you can keep the R6 for the highway, the 698 is definitely the bike to teach you to wheelie (and drift). I have to test it on a long highway ride but I need some non-freezing weather and snow to melt here in the Northeast. :o/

      My 950 stalled occasionally. My dealer did something to fix it (or at least improve it). Zero stalls on my 698.

I road raced for 25 years, and now live in Alabama "age 55" with the most glorious back roads known to man,,,,,, I want to back it in and wheelie it out!!!! What are your thoughts on the bike of choice for me "still fast as F at age 55"

      Do you prefer balls to the wall power (950) or more control (698)? Are you good at wheelies and drifting already (950) or more looking to improve (698)? Either are great for twisties.

      I had the termignoni on my 950 and the 698 is stock so but compared to sounds I heard online, the 950 sounds better.

    Today i payed a deposit and next week i must choose between 698 rve or 950. 950 is cheaper because it is 2022 model. I dont know what to choose.
    Unfortunately there is no testdrive.

      Do you want insane power on tap (950) or do you want something so light, you can flick it around corners (698), but doesn't have the torque of the 950? So you sacrifice brutal instant torque of the 950 for the light weight handling of the 698. The 698 is also fast (I'm working on a video about that soon.) but the 950 will throw you back in your seat. The 698 has more linear power delivery. The 950 can give you whiplash. I should mention my 950 had Termignoni and upmap.

      @@DucatiDiaries my only moto experience is hypermotard 796 in 2011-2013. I used it as an everyday bike, few times for very long trips (2200 km in a weekend), few times a year for trips 400km long. I even used it to go deep into forests to gather berries and mashrooms. When i see so called “off road hypermotard videos” i understand that my off road adventures were 10x times more “off road”. In my town there were no moto schools, so I couldn’t learn how to wheelie or stoppie. I think of myself as a novice driver.
      Now i want to drive a bike again. Finally i have a possibility to buy a new Ducati. Also, i will be able to learn to ride a bike in a school. I’m 44 and i feel that if I don’t bike a bike now, later i will find reasons not to buy it.
      I now live in Yerevan, Armenia. There are mountains around the city 50 km away from it. I hope to travel to different villages, to travel gravel roads and sometimes to drive a bike around the city, though it is dangerous here because of the horrible driving culture here.
      Also, if possible, i would like to have such a bike, that may be converted into a snowbike with a ski instead of the front wheel and a truck instead of the rear wheel. There are fantastic places here, where snowbike will be a great fun.
      I want my bike to be durable with a long service interval, because I don’t know how to take care of a bike and i will go to the dealer each time when i need to do anything with my bike, accept lubing the chain.
      Taking this into account, i was thinking of 698. It is light, powerful enough to be turned into snowbike. If accidentally i need to drive a long distance (1500 km), i hope i will be able to handle that. I also do not need speeds above 160 km/hour.
      But i never tried 1 cylinder bikes. And I’m not a hooligan. I prefer smooth driving instead of sharp jumps in acceleration while changing speed. And finally i was offered a new Hypermotard 950 from 2022 for a price 2000euro cheaper than 698.
      Maybe my reasoning is wrong and 950 is better for me? Maybe turning into a snowbike is a bad idea for 698? Maybe the difference in handling because on the difference in weight isn’t that great? Maybe 950 is much more stable and smooth on a road?
      Sorry for long writing.

      I’m a bit afraid that it is too loud, which means my neighbours will not be happy in the evenings if i drive home late. But they will need to leave with that.
      I’m also afraid that i will not be able to drive 1100 km between my two cities which i did twice a season on my Hypermotard 796 15 years ago.
      But the good side is that maybe one day i will buy a snowbike kit and transform my 698 into a snowbike, because i have lots of snow in my region.

    Neither bike you can't go wrong with each has it's own personality my pick would be the 950 there's just no substitution for horsepower.

      That's true. And the 950 is definitely the sexier of the two. I traded the 950 towards the 698 though because it can teach me how to wheelie though. LOL

      I put a deposit on a 698rve but then I discovered the 950. Now I think I’m leaning towards the 950sp. I love hp and torque and just feel like the 698 will not scratch that itch. I raced at a club level for a few years so I know the fun factor of low weight and flick ability. That’s why it’s a tough decision for me. My current ride is an 18tuono factory tuned with a pipe. Im worried the 950 won’t have enough poop for me. I think maybe the 950 for now and I’ll let everyone figure out the bugs and tuning for the 698 and maybe grab one used next year and have two ducs!

      @@motostacker3321 Make sure you ride the 950 before you commit. It's torque is almost too much. It jolts you. LOL. But I guess I always rode in sport mode. The 950 RVE is certainly a gorgeous beast. The 698 doesn't have that crazy power but it does have a surprisingly good amount of power and keeps pulling up to 10K RPM in every gear. But yeah, I've never had a bike tuned for so much torque with the slightest twist of the throttle as the 950. Keep in mind I had the full Termignoni system and upmap on mine so it was a bit more powerful. Either way, you can't go wrong with either bike and you should test ride them both.

    That wasn't a review. That was an advertisment. You didn't mention any negatives. As an owner I will tell you some of them. They are heavy as tanks for their categories. Way too expensive and the cost of parts and maintenance makes you drive them slow and careful which demolish the whole purpose of owning a bike like this.

      You're correct. It wasn't a review. It's a comparison and owner recommendation of two bikes, just like the title says. I never felt the 950 was heavy. It's an absolute blast to ride. So is the 698. But both differ and that's what I discuss in the video. These are both top notch bikes. I find nothing negative to say about them but if it were a review, I'd try to be more critical. If you think it was an advertisement, you didn't pay attention to the video or read the title.

      As someone who has owned the 950 and currently the mono I would say they both rock. If you want to save money scroll right past Ducati. Ducati has never pushed value, instead it’s pushed boundaries for racing and beauty.
      I will say the mono is the most fun bike I have ever owned, and it’s also the slowest by far.

      Dry Weight 139.5 kg / 305.4 lbs vs Ducati 698 333 pounds (151 kg) without fuel. So yeah heavier, but jeez the KTM are so flawed I loved and hated both my 690 smc’s (2010 and 2019 model). Never buying a 690 again.

      IMHO electric bikes are not where they need to be yet. They need to be much lighter with more range. A difficult task. And I have two EVs in my garage. 🙂

    There's only one sm that is a ktm 990 smr very rare but it will destroy a ducati

      I have both , ktm 990 smr and ducati hypermotard 950 sp . The Ducati does everything right, is easier to ride fast. The KTM with the center of gravity closer to the front wheel makes more stable wheelies. Both have power, with the Hypermotard the torque is there earlier and the engine revs higher. Riding naked on the KTM without riding assist also has its appeal. 🤙😏✌
